[Q] Can't upgrade or recover i9506 - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Good evening all,
Trying to recover back to 4.2.2 after a failed update to 4.3.
Kies is going through the normal download and recovery screens but fails, the GUI offers nothing on errors numbers or similar.
After a failed update / recover the phones displays;
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: GT-I9506
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
KNOX KERNEL LOCK: 0x0
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0X0
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE
RP SWREV: S1, T1, R1, A1, P0
WRITE PROTECTION: Enable
UDC START
SW REV CHECK FAIL : [sbl1]Fused 1 > Binary 0
My usual Google Fu is failing me. Any ideas if I can stay within Samsung's walled garden and get back to 4.2.2 or up to 4.3?
Or will I have to flash / root / bootloader a new ROM on?
Cheers
kgb6

You cant flash now android 4.2.2, you will have to flash android 4.3. But this "SW REV CHECK FAIL : [sbl1]Fused 1 > Binary 0" is what worry me

Thank you for the reply Joku!
Every attempt in Kies to update or upgrade fails, is this expected given the state of the phone?
What is so troublesome about "SW REV CHECK FAIL : [sbl1]Fused 1 > Binary 0" ?
Cheers

Go to sammobile website and download 4.3 firmware. I guess once u have 4.3 firmware you cant roll back to 4.2.2.

Phone stuck on "Samsung Galaxy S5 .. Powered by Android" screen

So originally I had 5.0 stock firmware that was updated through Samsung Kies.
Then I started using Samsung SmartSwitch (new Kies) and it told me I had a new update. I tried installing it and it failed.
So phone was stuck and error message showed ".. update failed .." and so on.
I decided to put the phone in download mode and flash the stock firmware via Odin but no matter what I try, everything fails.
As of right now, I've read and tried multiple things. Like this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784880
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/help/wont-past-s5-powered-android-screen-t3225682
When I go to download mode on the phone, here is what reads on the top left:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SM-G900V
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
REACTIVATION LOCK(KK): OFF
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE (CSB)
RP SWREV: S1, T2, A1, A2, P1
SECURE DOWNLOAD : ENABLE
UDC START
The following guide shows very good instructions with all the files but I am unsure of which version I should be using or even the file for that version since there are SOO MANY files there. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784880
A little detail answer would really be appreciated.
Thank you!!

were you already rooted? if not then you cant downgrade due to the bootloader being locked

[HELP!!!] Need Help with SW REV CHECK FAIL: Fusion 3 > Binary 2

Hey there, I'm new to the whole rooting thing, and I messed up while doing it the first time so I get stuck at the Samsung Logo now, and it says while on that screen 'SET WARRENTY BIT: KERNAL', which from what I have read online means that my bootloader is messed up, but I don't know how to fix it. I will provide as much information as I can while not being able to load into my phone.
Info:
Model: SM-S902L(GP)
GPSAS902CB
FFC ID: A3LSMG900V
Galaxy S5 (TFN Region)
I've tried custom bootloaders, Stock Firmware, Factory Reset. Just about everything I can think of. I've even tried the stock firmware for my model.
I get the error: SW REV CHECK FAIL: (aboot) Fused 3 > Binary 2
Additional Info (From Screen):
ODIN MODE
Product Name: SM-S902L
Current Binary: Custom
System Status: Custom
Reactivation Lock(KK): Off
Knox Warranty Void: 0x1 (1)
Qualcomm Secureboot: Enable (CSB)
AP SWREV: S1, T3, R1, A3, P1
UDC START
If anybody can help that would be much appreciated!

Is "Set Warranty Bit : kernel" the brick message of death?

Hi all,
Smg900p Sprint s5 had the new CM13 nightly and seemingly out of nowhere it rebooted to "Set Warranty Bit : kernel"
When I switch to download mode this is my screen:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME:SM-G900P
CURRENT BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
REACTIVATION LOCK: OFF
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: Ox1 (4)
QUALCOM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE (CSB)

The message "SW REV CHECK FAIL : [aboot]Fused 3 > Binary 1" is added to this after I attempt flashing the stock rom with Odin. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
After I installed a custom ROM on my s5, s4 and sm-g350 this message came. I think it's pretty normal.

When I reboot all I get the Samsung Galaxy s5 screen and at the top in those yellow letters "Set Warranty Bit : kernel" and it's stuck there.
Tried deleting everything and flashing stock rom from both RWilco and Sammobile and it doesn't work. I suspect my the bootloader is dead which I'm working on now OR that I tripped the knox security which forced it to lock.
I've seen suggestions on downgrading to 4.4.2 but believe that there isn't a way to download for this model. I've tried Sammobile's version and it doesn't work.
This sucks.
Why don't you try refreshing the bootloader with Odin?

Sorry, I'm not sure I know how to do that. I'm researching and working on the bootloader info right now. Any advice is much appreciated.

Need Latest ROM for Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N9005)

I have Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005.
I only have this info about my phone that is written in the above line.. because I bought it in used condition, I don't know whether it is repaired or refurbished.. it was working fine on Android 5.0 (it had some Vodafone apps) then I tried to install 7.1.2 but it failed because I wiped out system before installing.. I gave it to a repairman who installed 4.4 on it and that was not working fine I again tried to install STOCK 5.0 on it through Odin but at last it failed and said "invalid ext4".. now my phone only says " Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again"
Now please please please tell me, what can I do.??? It's a serious problem for me

Stock roms .
updato.com sammobile.com samsung-updates.com
1) Download the latest Odin...I have attached it if you need it...
2) Download this Official Stock Lollipop Rom from HERE...
3) Unzip the above Firmware file...
4) Enter into Download mode (Volum down+Power+Home)...
5) Put the .tar.md5 file which you extracted before into AP of Odin & press Start...
If you get a green PASS message in Odin, you did the right thing...
