First of all try to restart phone and then test Google Play.
If this didn't help try switch connection WiFi/Mobile data and then test Google Play.
If this didn't help you could try to go to settings - apps - Google Play - Clear Cache. Then test Google Play.
If all this didn't help and you have a proper data connection you might have to go to settings - apps - Google Play - Clear Data. After doing so you will have to re-establish / re-connect to the same Google Account currently use on your phone!

hello, by any chance, do you turn on the 'restrict background data' on play store in data management setting? happened to me too if i restrict the data, had to swipe away 'play store' in task manager, then open it back to be able to use it.

How to disable google play store auto update?

After flashing evry custom rom , google play store is often trying to update himself by downloadin latest google play store.Any body know how to stop this downloading/update ?
A quick google search will solve this issue. Go to Google play store settings and turn off automatic updates.

NO.
It will not solve his problem.
• The Auto Update option is for Apps (that are installed on our device)
• Not for the Playstore.
• He want to stop Playstore from auto-updating.
We can't stop Playstore from updating itself.

so what should I do? A quick Google search or disable auto update from playstore setting.
Oh...come on.
Atleat first try to understand my problem.
Google play store auto update is so annoying in Nougat/marshmallow.
Maybe we can delete it and replace with a very early version that doesn't phone home all the time?
And what the heck is Google play services for instant apps?

If I replace the google play store apps by earlier versions in system ....I think it also will try to update.
Though I will try.
Thanks Raymond. Can you please try this technique here:

I need a fool proof tutorial of this technique.
I only managed to disable the selfupdatecheckerscheduler service using the disableservice app

Sorry if I came of as a bit rude and sorry for the late reply. I misunderstood your problem was apps auto-updating by themselves and not the google play store itself.
As for the play store auto-updating by itself, can't you restore to factory version in the app settings?
Just uninstall the update and back to playstore factory version.

"Google Play Store has stopped"

Hi all,
Sorry if this isn't the right forum to post. My essential phone seems to stop working whenever I try to scroll through the Play Store > Under Games. It's the only category that seems to do this and I'm not entirely sure as to why?
My phone is using stock android 8.1.0. I'd appreciate any help on this, I've only experienced that typically once or twice on Custom ROM's but never on a stock android without any modifications.
Thanks!

P9 Lite unexisting build number, throw away?

Hi there, I wish your expert help please (I'll throw this phone otherwise, too much effort/time lost).
I'm using a P9 Lite with build number VNS-L31C432B417 , Android 7.0.
I can't find any good reference to that number on the Internet.
Since months Google services is not running any longer on my phone, e.g. G's icons all disappeared. Cleared cached of G's apps , made whatever (but rooting), without success as of today (no emails, no youtube, no play store etc).
Now, I wish to upgrade the OS but it keeps saying 'No Updates Available', your phone is already up to date...
Connection Mac desktop-phone via HiSuite fails (despite I enabled HiSuite on HDB, on my phone's settings), "HiSuite quit unexpectedly".
Use of HiCare useless as well, no update found.
Can you please help out here ?
Thanks much for your time

Hello,
yes the "phone throw" will be part of the disciplines
of the next Olympics, so train well ...
I state that I am not an expert, just a user like you, perhaps with a little more experience ...
Okay, I checked and your firmware is actually the latest available.
That's weird...
How is it possible that you no longer have the services of big G?
Which big G app did you clear the cache if you no longer have them on the device?

Hello, hi, thanks for your answer.
I can still see them all listed in Settings > Apps ! That's the point.
I can see them (GMail, Google, Google News, Play Books, Play Games, Play Movies, Play Music, Play services, Google+, Hangouts...), and they are up working.... I cleared the cache mainly for " Google Play services ". Some of their icons are still on my screen but e.g. clicking on GMail or YouTube I get " Gmail won't run without Google Play services, which are not supported by your device " ....... !!!
Of course I logged out and relogged onto my G account .... but nothing changed.
So ?

Ok, it's clear, google play services for some reason no longer does its job.
Dude, I don't know, something screwed up your device.... once I solved it like this:
Settings> security> device administrator and disable 'android device management':
Go back and access apps, then find and press on
google play services:
Press on uninstall or uninstall updates.
Open the play stores and update google play services as one
any application.
If it doesn't automatically, look for it in the top bar
and update it ...
I hope it works for you too ...

Thank you for your suggestion..... I just did a hard reset and obviously everything got back working...... Not really the way to solve the issue, surely the most effective.
