Samsung has advertised Download Booster to work on LTE networks. But what about the 3G version? Will is also have similar functionality over a 3G network?
No mention about it in the Samsung India microsite: http://www.samsung.com/in/galaxys5/specs.html

I am assuming it will not have the feature.
I also assume the feature is available with the LTE model because LTE is consistently faster than most wifi landline networks, allowing you faster download speeds when LTE and wifi are combined.
just taking a guess here.
Its just a combination of wifi+mobi network so it is possible.

Ok, it seems that the Exynos Version does not have Download Booster, as mentioned in this video

Hmm. Interesting.
But it does not seem to be present in the Indian Exynos models.

No. I've only seen in the videos that it's not there. Never got the chance to check out the Exynos model.
And Samsung doesn't mention the feature at all.
Which model did you try? SM-G900H?
Download Booster Galaxy S5
I have the international model of Galaxy S5 SM-G900H 4G version and it doesn't have the Download Booster, can someone tell me where (if) I can turn it on
THX
Download booster depends on LTE.
Exynos variant does not have it at all.

It has hidden download booster.
I am myself tested it.

Hi all,
I have the s5 unlocked version in NY, NY which according to the box supports LTE (I know this seems obvious, but still). However, I popped my sim in and I can't figure out how to enable LTE. I've gone into mobile network settings (photo attached) and I also downloaded LTE toggles, but the just force close.
Any ideas?
[Edited: just added photos of the phone so we can skip the whole 'you don't have the phone' thing. I need some honest help here. Thanks!]
[Edited: The phone uid codes don't work, I get an error, and also the APN settings are correct (fast.t-mobile.com).]
[Edit: Turns out this might be solved. For whatever reason, the version of this galaxy s5 is the SM-G900H model, which apparently does not support LTE... why they would sell a phone that says "for sure in north america only" that is GSM only is beyond me.
Can anyone confirm that this variant does not support LTE?
The SM-G900H is the Exynos version(?) and does not have LTE antennas, but you can check it by installing Antutu or something that shows hardware information.
The "American SIM only" is Samsung's region locking irregardless of the phone variant, if it gets sold in the US, it has to have that.
EDIT: okay, I'm a bit confused as some SM-G900H info mentions the Snapdragon SoC. Definitely install some benchmark apps or system tool info to check the hardware.

What does Antutu device info says? If Exynos 5422, it won't have LTE, if Snapdragon 800 / Krait 400, it should have. In any case you should contact the store where you bought it, and if no LTE you should go for refund.

You should return it if possible, if they ask why, say you live in US and nobody told you it doesn't have LTE.
You can only get LTE if you buy a carrier branded version of the S5. In my opinion that is ridiculous. But that is how it is. The versions at Best Buy and Samsung do not include North American LTE support. I believe the version you have would only support AT&T HSPA+ (3G). If used on T-Mobile, it would only support band 2 3G (1900) which may be very limited.
Related to exynos 5422
Is there any way to use LTE On Samsung galaxy S5 Exynos 5422?
Thanks I'm a little new in this field
Hello friends
I am buying Samsung Galaxy S V so i am confuse which version to buy?
The Snapdragon version
or
The Exynos version
and i am buying in White color so anyone please share his or her S5 White one?
Depends on which region you are in as to what version to buy. Do you need certain LTE Bands?

If the S5 turns out like any of the previous Samsung devices, then the Snapdragon one is the better to choose for development etc, in regards to stats, even though they both have different CPU's they both perform around the same rate.. So neither one is the "better" one.

ok mate i will buy octa core one .
Speaking of this. Does anyone know a place to buy an unlocked one in the US? I want to use it with straight talk, but don't want to have the at&t stuff on the back and on the phone. I think unlocked phones get updated quicker??
Not sure if I trust the Joe Schmoes on Amazon
Thanks!

It's not recommended to flash the firmware from a different variant and you may brick your phone if you do. The different model numbers usually signify that it is intended for sale and use on a different carrier. And would then have different bands supported. And possibly hardware differences as well e.g. if one system is CDMA.
I believe that these two models are Chinese variants, probably LTE vs a LTE/CDMA hybrid (dual SIM) models. If you look at the data sheets for each model, you can confirm what differences there are in supported bands, LTE, SIMs and so forth.
.
Thanks... Have been looking through spec sheets but i'm getting some contradicting intell lol... But there had tot be some difference along the lines of what you're saying i guess

Get the official data sheets directly from Samsung.
Don't depend on specs of unknown accuracy from third party sites.

Guys bought a Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900V ( white color brought from abroad from Verizon USA ) and it is on stock rom+firmware and Android 4.4.2
It shows LTE option in Mobile Networks, but I called Warid ( the service provider in my country ) and they said that Samsung S5 is not supported with Warid LTE as Warid 4G and LTE needs 1800MHz which my phone version doesn't have.
Here is the specs link:
http://www.verizonwireless.com/smartphones/galaxy-s-5/
The specs don't mention 1800MHz LTE band whereas the G900F version does have this band.
So am I completely out of luck, or can I install a custom ROM/Firmware/Radio to change my cell to SM-G900F or somehow enable 1800MHz frequency by some manipulation/hack/patch or is there no chance???
Thanks in advance!
No chance, its a hardware thing.

Thanks for the reply, if it is indeed a hardware restriction then what would you say about this thread and this post in particular:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56520513&postcount=517
This guy has the same phone and version as my S5.
It seems we can enable the LTE bands with some patience and work, should I try this on my phone or is it not worth it???
Thanks!

Hi,
I'm new on here so I'm not sure if anyone can help. I have looked around other threads but have not found the solution for this specific model. I purchased the Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900H through Amazon.co.uk last year assuming this would support 4G. However, I'm now just finding out that this might not be the case. As shown in the screenshot below, I don't have the LTE option in the Network Mode menu. I called my provider Three.co.uk and they said to do a factory reset (which I did) and then they said to update to Android 5.0 (which I did) but still no luck.
I prefer not to root the device and break the warranty but I will if there is no choice. I have also attached a screenshot with the details of the build number / kernel etc.
Please bear in mind that I am not very experienced at this so please explain what I have to do in plain English.........
Thanks so much!!!!!!!
@jeroenmw g900H doesnt support lte/4g
I have SM-G900H model and it doesn't have 4G LTE.
You can check its specifications online.
Just google model name!
So even rooting the device will not work?

No, it 'll not work even after rooting...
Because its not in hardware!
Get SM-G900F model if u want to use 4G/LTE
The SM-G900H is the variant of Samsung Galaxy S5 that is built using the in-house eXynos Octocore system chip. This variant does not have hardware support for 4G LTE networking.
For 4G LTE support you need one if the Galaxy S5 variants based on the Qualcomm Quad core system chip. Only the Qualcomm-based handsets have hardware support for 4G LTE.
If you have the option to return your phone for a refund I suggest you do that and get one of the other variants (preferably the SM-G900F for the UK). One of those should work with your carrier's LTE support.
How to use 4g in Galaxy S5 sm g900h??? Please help me
I am with a SM-G900H, and it have a 4G sign on the back cover, how it not have 4g ?
