Hi,
I have 4.2 on my LG G2 D802 and KitKat was just launched in my country. My phone is rooted and I got TWRP.
Can I download and install the KDZ-file (KitKat) without removing TWRP?
Do I have to remove any mods I have done to the system? Like G2 Xposed etc?
Please respond, before I do the update (don't want to brick it).
Thank you!

Do not make OTA update with TWRP on you phone ! you will be stuck at recovery !
You cannot flash a kdz without lossing root and twrp !
Flash this ROM and follow the thread so you get kitkat with root and you keep your custom reovery : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2661866

I know not to make an OTA update.
And I don't care about loosing root and twrp. I'm wondering if it will work fine to install the KDZ-file and it will work like a original-phone. Or if I do have to remove TWRP and mods first?
Thank you!

you can flash official KDZ no matter u have twrp or not ! but be aware that your bootloader will be updated and you will never get custom recovery again (till now)
I have searched a bit and from what I have found the phone will not be restored after a KDZ-flash? I want my phone completely wiped and restored to stock when I install KiKat. Can I restore my phone in settings before I install the KDZ-file?
Will this somehow be a problem when I have a rooted phone and TWRP?
Please help me restore my phone to stock and update to KitKat, I want it to be completely stock and with nothing left in it.
Thank you!

I used FreeGee to try to install a custom recovery after root. First TWRP, stuck at performing action. Then CWM. Then the older CWM. Always stuck at performing action. The old CWM worked. Reboot to recovery and get security boot error. Looked around on forums and found a CWM batch install that everyone says works for them. Still recovery boot error. Anyone know what's up? I'm on AT&T D800. Rooted by ioroot25
Also RomManager says I have both recoveries installed. Thinking this might be the issue. How do I delete one or both and get on the right track?
I think I have the same problem. Could u solve the problem?

Safest way is to go back to stock 4.2.2 first, then root with IOroot then install recovery.lok

Thanks again for quick help however I have checked the downgrade process and its too long plus I have to download stock 4.2.2 firmware which is 1GB plus in size..
So is there no easy method to install recovery on already rooted stock 4.4.2 firmware?

No, no easy one, and some might even say none at all, but you can read the rooting thread where they discuss recovery as well http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448887
Hi folks! I have a Galaxy S4 GPE, rooted and unlocked, but stock otherwise. When I try to run the OTA update for 4.4.3, the phone reboots into TeamWin recovery and appears to start installing. The install errors out though. Can I not install the OTA update because I'm rooted? If so, would reverting the rooting allow me to install? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Is there a thread on how to do that? I seem to remember when I installed this recovery tool to root the phone, it wiped everything. Is it going to do that again? Because I don't want to have to keep wiping my phone every time a new Android update comes out just to be rooted.

I went through that method, and it's essentially the same thing, except that I'm downloading the actual update file myself and not letting Android handle it. Needless to say it didn't work. I also updated my TWRP to 2.7.1.0 and tried; no luck. I also uninstalled SuperSU to see if removing root would help. It didn't.

It's the problem of no read for be vague. It worked perfectly on the GPE of my sister. The update that appears in the website is ready for install it through custom recovery. Read all the guide:
Hello all,
I have a stock 4.4.2 20h d802 that I plan to reinstall with cm12 as soon as m1 is released.
I've read a kazillion threads here and thought I had everything covered but the more I read more variations I can see.
I would prefer a PC free solution.
20h blocks towelroot so I guess I have to use stump root instead.
I have the following plan. Any advice or anything missing in here? I do not want to brick my g2
1) root with stumproot 1.2 apk
2) install autorec apk to automatically downgrade boot loader and install old twrp
3) upgrade twrp to 2.8.3 with zip file from recovery
4) erase cache from recovery
5) flash cm12 from recovery
But now I am reading stuff about baseband flashes and that lollipop needs jellybean stuff. So am I missing something our am I good to go?
When I flash lg official rom I have to choose the specific 32gb version. Will this be okay with generic cm12?
Thanks for any help!
Stefan

Sorry, but what somebody tells you now, might not apply at the m1 time. Or might have better ways. Might be a long wait as well.
Just saying that you will need to ask this again when the M1 comes. Right now you can only ask how to flash it now.
Thanks for the the reply.
I thought m1 is just a few weeks away so figured I'd start with the rest of the process already so that rooting, autorec and twrp are in place.
But for arguments sake, let's say I want to flash the current official d802 nightly. Would these steps suffice? Do I need to worry about Loki.sh a well?

Well to tell you the truth I do not remember how I rooted my device. Was really long ago... and what applies to the 20h.
I know at some point I used autorec.
And now I have the 2831 twrp.
What i can tell you though, that wiping cache won't be enough when flashing cm.
IIRC you have to make a clean install when coming from stock rom. So 4th step has to be about that, not just cache.
Thanks. I will make sure to wipe system as well then.
So autorec will leave me with an old twrp I am reading. I need to update this for cm12 I understand.
What exactly is the difference between Loki twrp 2.8.x and bump 2.8.x? The one I got from the twrp site doesn't have either in the file name. A xda guide said Loki trwp is needed and rootjunky on YouTube said not to use Loki twrp but bump twrp.
Now I am confused
Stefan.

same i have d800 outside US.
this is what i do. not sure where you at.? if you in stock KITKAT then just do the rest of steps.
but basically i go back to stock to KK using flashtools. with this guide. asuming you can enter into download mode.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2663369
once you flash TOT method suscesfully. and had phone root and autorec for KK installed
then update you twrp with thermal twrp from blastagator..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development/twrp-twrp-2-8-0-0-kernel-f2fs-tools-t2898705
then download bootstacks 5.0.2 Bootstack with KitKat (Bump) bootloader:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development/lg-g2-bootstacks-t3173715
while you are in KITKAT and have rooted, and thermal twrp installed.
enter recovery twrp.
wipe all (move your pics and important files to pc while in twrp)
flash the 5.0.2 Bootstack with KitKat (Bump) bootloader:
go to main menu in twrp. then reboot into recovery again DONT REBOOT INTO SYSTEM.
then copy this flashable KDZ stock rom it already has root integrated. copy to phone while in twrp
http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-g2/development/rom-t3152368
flash it in twrp. this will install stock rooted 5.02 LP.
to install another rom a stock base.. simply install autorec for lollipop in the playstore
install tqrp with autorec for lollipop
update the twrp with the thermal one from blastagator..
if you want like stock based rom just wipe dalvik/cache/system and data/ and or sd card.
then copy rom while in twrp and install...
Until today I had the impression that my LG G2 was done.
You see, a year ago I had this problem with an update, I carry the phone to my carrier as was under warranty, the Fixed the problem but after that I couldn't boot in recovery mode.
No Power and Volume Down or Up Working, nor the 3 times power combination and then I've just came across this boot into bootloader instructions that I didn't know about it.
Code:
Bootloader: With the device powered down, plug in a USB cable while pressing Volume Up.
Which works like a charm.
So can somebody please point me in the right direction to Install CM13 in bootloader mode?
Best regards
you can't, you can only flash a stock rom in download mode

steps are like this.
you are on KK, you need to search for files as that variant i dont know..
you must root phone and install custom recovery
so cehck here for root..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63327417&postcount=4
when you rooted. then proceed to install twrp. use the same link above and look in recovery
click on recovery.. remeber you are in KK so use the one for kitkat dont use Lollipop.
when you find recovery install it..when you have it installed. update it with this one
2.8.7.3
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development/twrp-twrp-2-8-0-0-kernel-f2fs-tools-t2898705
install bootstacks for your variant. 5.02 KK bumped.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development/lg-g2-bootstacks-t3173715
then you need to find a flashable rom in zip format.. for d805. lollipop. once you flashed it and are in stock lollipop
then find root for lollipop use the links above , i thnk theres root for LP.
when roo is rooted then go to playstore and download autorec for lollipop for your variant..
install and install twrp.. update it with 2.8.7.3 thermal one..
then install hybrids bootsacks. for your variant
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development/boot-g2-hybrid-bootstacks-t3183219
when installing hybrid.. reboot from recovery into recovery again to take effect ... then flash rom and gapps for cm13.
Already rooted. Will check the instructions, overall the one about the recovery...as I said before I don't have a recovery options, when I install TWRP and try to reboot into the recovery mode the phone just reboot.
I believe you gave me the instructions to fix this, fix the recovery, will follow your instructions and will be back.
Thank you for your time.
If it doesn't work try to install the stock kk again and do all the above process again
