This best messenger widget, Pure Messenger, made by xda forum rat koxx, has gone up as a FREE beta for people using ADW and LauncherPro.
Anders and Federico added scrollable support for the widget so it's effing perfect.
Get it HERE while you can.
This is a great alternative to friendstream as well, since it has Twitter/Facebook integration!
Oh and check out Pure Calendar Widget while you're at it!

Nah, you can install it fine. The version that Darch put in the main rom didn't have the widget scrolling support in it yet (which is what gives Pure Messenger part of it's awesomeness).
Fantastic widget!!
been using it on LP since yesterday, I'll definitely be buying this one when it hits the market!
It's been updated to 1.6.9 with a lot of bug fixes, same site as up top. Make sure you update
Is there any way to get the stock news/weather app/widget on the MT4G's stock sense? You know, the stock android one that has top stories and weather? I can't use the cute flip clock widget for weather anymore - it looks cool, but I like to have a more detailed weather report than just high/low temp. The stock weather has more info and a great UI, plus I'd like to save screen space and use it for my news also.
Anyway, any way to get it?

Those widgets are built on the sense framework. You must be using a ROM that is Sense based to get it.

I'm running a ROM with stock Sense, but I can't figure out which widget you're missing.
I believe you are talking about the genie widget, its the google news/weather app. I have it on my stock t-mo rom, pulled it from cm6 and just installed it like any other app.

@TeeJay: sorry I missed your post, but yes I'm talking about the one that sleepyfu is talking about.
So you can just install it like a regular app? Lol I don't know why I thought that couldn't be done...I'll try to find the apk, thanks.
Lol, hilarity ensues. Do you just like start a new account every few days? Thanks for the helpful post.
Er... The OP asked if it is possible to get stock Android widgets on a phone using Sense ROM. Most answers seem to focus on the completely opposite issue: "You can't run Sense widgets under stock Android ROM". Why? Does anyone actually read the questions these days?

Yes we read. even someone with a Sense ROM said "I don't know what widget you are talking about".... so it must be something different that what Sense has....
i wish we were all perfect like you.
And yes you can run AOSP .apk's on Sense's framework.
To the OP here it is; if you are talking about the one in my attached picture....you can download it from here.

I have Fancy Widget version 1.3 that I believe they pulled because it looked too much like HTC sense flip clock and weather widget...it's flippin' identical (pun intended). Look for Fancy Widget version 1.3 apk and that will get your clock and weather widget...when you click on the weather it brings up a 4 day forecast and gives you the option to bring your browser to your favorite weather website...wouldn't leave home without it!

Hey guys. I'm sure somebody here has some experience coding for Android, so I figured you could help me with my search. I am looking for a stock AOSP Xtheme Engine theme for the Galaxy s4. Plenty of themes exist, but few fit the Touchwiz variant. Apparently porting themes from CM is as easy as changing a few lines of code, and from what I've read making them compatible with touchwiz takes only a few more changes. I will link the threads below.
Xtheme Engine themes (with touchwiz discussions on pages 18, not very in depth)
Theme Engine general thread
Hopefully we can get a few themes for the s4 rolling to combat those (me included) who love the features of touchwiz but dislike the design.
I've personally never heard of this one, but I'm looking into the VRtheme engine which works well with TW. I personally like using a MORPH which is basically what I'm using now. Things on the S4 are quite different compared to the S3. Especially the XMLs. Just to compile the SystemUI.apk requires a workaround. But things should be moving along soon. I just got going tonight myself. But I'll sure take a look at it

I agree with you a little on the poor design but I think it's just the colors for me I dont like. I'm a fan of blue and I don't like green as much.

Now is there a way to apply the themes you did to the power toggles and status bar icons without having to flash an entirely new rom? Or is that what you are working on currently?

Sure is sir. The Morph zips that I am using should work for all TW ROMs. But I'll be testing that when more are released. But yes, the morphs are universal. Very cool stuff

Bump, and also in the same boat.
I came from HTC Sense, and find the Samsung dialer very not nice.
I hope we can have something ported onto the S4...
+1
Do you mean stock android dialer in a touchwiz rom?
Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 2
In my case I mean the TouchWiz dialer. (EDIT, to clarify, I mean I dont like the TW dialer, sorry about the confusion..)
The HTC Sense dialer is much more functional and intuitive. It shows you a keypad and your last calls ( and much further down the list, ALL your contacts) on the same screen, and by typing the number/letters, it narrows down the list to the desired contact (whether on the last calls log, AND/OR in your contact list). Its all done on one screen. To do the same thing on TW I have to jump through 3 different tabs or 5-6 key presses.
Also for contacts with multiple numbers, a side swipe scroll through the available numbers.
Plus a few other featureless and tricks makes the Sense dialer a lot easier to use, try it if you get a chance and you'll see what I mean.
Any one if the HTC dialer is ported, or possible to install/use on TW?

I've tried it but its just not the same as the stock android dialer and contacts.
I'm also badly expecting stock dialer, contacts, clock and messaging ...
It would be better that Somebody could create the stock Dialer, contacts and message apk ...
it will be highly appreciated if someone can post a flashable zip adding stock jelly bean dialer, contact and messaging app to touchwiz. Its like having the best of both worlds

Hello. Can anyone please tell me which ROMs other than stock are compatible with the S-View case? I tried a couple of the Google 4.3 builds and they are - and of course so is stock. I'm looking for a CM10.1 based / Paranoid Android based ROM which supports the S-View window.
Thanks!

Yes but now even the 'pure' Google builds now support it. I've tried three different Google 4.3 builds and they all support it without any of the TouchWiz stuff.

BTW 4.3 made by Samsung not Google , i mean it's modified by Samsung
So that's why s-view cover works fine with it

That's great, I didn't know about the Google edition rom… I'll try it soon!
I'm looking for a CM based ROM that would support S-View Cover as well. I would go with pure Android (like in S4 Google Edition) but it's just too pure for me. I got used to CM on my SGS1 and would love to continue using it, but I can't live without S-View Cover.
SO, is there any CM based ROM that would support S-View Cover? Or are all Google Edition roms just a pure Android?

No CM rom supports S-view at this time. Google Edition is not really pure android, they still have TW frameworks that's why S-view still works

Does that mean that Google Edition uses TW launcher or it just has TW frameworks "inside" but besides that it is a pure android? I flashed some GE but it looked like Nexus to me so I'm wondering if I downloaded wrong ROM or that is how GE looks like.

It looks like a nexus but it isn't. Pure android is still the nexus line. Can't really say that GE roms are "pure" as they have TW frameworks under the hood (though on the new 4.3 leak for GE S4, it looks like most of the TW frameworks have been removed) hence S-view works on GE S4.
To answer your 2nd question, no you didn't download the wrong ROM.

Tried it. Not too bad, but it works off the prox or light sensor. Draw back is your hand can trigger the S View screen with the cover open.
Back to Google edition.
Thanks anyway
