[Q] ROMs compatible with the S-View case? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello. Can anyone please tell me which ROMs other than stock are compatible with the S-View case? I tried a couple of the Google 4.3 builds and they are - and of course so is stock. I'm looking for a CM10.1 based / Paranoid Android based ROM which supports the S-View window.
Thanks!

They don't support S view if im not wrong. Since the s view is based on Samsung firmware.

Yes but now even the 'pure' Google builds now support it. I've tried three different Google 4.3 builds and they all support it without any of the TouchWiz stuff.

BTW 4.3 made by Samsung not Google , i mean it's modified by Samsung
So that's why s-view cover works fine with it

That's great, I didn't know about the Google edition rom… I'll try it soon!

I'm looking for a CM based ROM that would support S-View Cover as well. I would go with pure Android (like in S4 Google Edition) but it's just too pure for me. I got used to CM on my SGS1 and would love to continue using it, but I can't live without S-View Cover.
SO, is there any CM based ROM that would support S-View Cover? Or are all Google Edition roms just a pure Android?

No CM rom supports S-view at this time. Google Edition is not really pure android, they still have TW frameworks that's why S-view still works

foxhoundrom.net is pretty nice. Very customizable, supports the case. Worth a look.

Does that mean that Google Edition uses TW launcher or it just has TW frameworks "inside" but besides that it is a pure android? I flashed some GE but it looked like Nexus to me so I'm wondering if I downloaded wrong ROM or that is how GE looks like.

It looks like a nexus but it isn't. Pure android is still the nexus line. Can't really say that GE roms are "pure" as they have TW frameworks under the hood (though on the new 4.3 leak for GE S4, it looks like most of the TW frameworks have been removed) hence S-view works on GE S4.
To answer your 2nd question, no you didn't download the wrong ROM.

Try https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hatroid.sviewpro on any ROM

Tried it. Not too bad, but it works off the prox or light sensor. Draw back is your hand can trigger the S View screen with the cover open.
Back to Google edition.
Thanks anyway

[Q] [R&D] Port Air and Smart Features to Custom ROMS

Is it possible to port the air and smart gestures/features/etc. on the stock S4 ROMs to custom Roms?
I ask this because they are really the only features I use that are not on the custom roms.

If the Google GS4 has them, probably. If not, most likely no.

I see, well here is hoping, oh also the multi window thing, that would be nice if it was ported as well.
Yes for touchwiz based custom Roms
I think you might be a little confused. There is no need to port any of the features you are talking about to stock ROMs considering these features already exist in stock ROMs.
If you're referring to aosp based ROMs. Probably not. But some might be compatible.

sorry about the late reply. but yes i wanted to know if they could be ported on aosp roms.
the two i really want is the smart stay option which keeps phone from screen off when you are looking at it and the multi-task side bar, i know there is a app for that already but it isn't really the same its nice that it was a system app and always in the backgroud kinda thing, like paranoid's halo.

[Q] Question about GOOGLE Edition GS4

Do we know whether apps like Watch ON and the sensor extras (motion/eye tracking) will be supported by the google edition phone? My guess is we wont have to wait long to get the Google edition software onto our AT&T versions.
Google edition will have a pure android aosp system, and that means no.

According to this.. Maybe..
The article can be found here.. The photo below shows it having air gestures and view so MAYBE its all true or maybe its still just a rumor at this point..
Maybe not WatchOn but the it blaster may still work with an app from the play store if air gesture and air view are really going to be included..

No worries.
I hope the Google Edition does end up having some sort of support for the IR blaster, ect, but I really doubt that will happen. What I'm really looking forward to is better camera support...the camera software on current AOSP roms is woefully inadequate, especially considering how mediocre the camera is in the first place...

I just woke up when I posted that and forgot about there being two different editions (dev & Google) lol.. I love Aokp/aosp but I'd really like to keep the ir blaster and the camera like you said also.. The air gestures and motions i can do without. That's really the only reason I havent switched to Aosp/kp yet
Matt are you running a TW ROM or Aosp/kp? I was running wicked running Foxhound now

I was running SlimBean for a while, but now I'm running WanamLite, and I'm thinking about trying out Android Revolution HD. Like you, I don't really care about eye tracking/air gestures...but the camera just kills the AOSP experience for me.

If you like stock then why flash a custom ROM? If you don't like the added functionality that custom ROMs bring then there's no point using them. Use stock rooted and be happy, but don't ask (or, by the tone of your post, demand) devs to create ROMs for you which no one else will use.

That's what all custom ROMs are for the N4, since it runs pure Android. I honestly don't understand what you're trying to say.

Because aosp based rom are full of bugs, issues, force close and unstable ? making my n4 lagging without reason where stock doesn't have ?
But I somehow want an enhanced stock rom I don't know why.
Well maybe I could miss pie control which is the only thing that is useful in a n4 custom rom.

Dunno what you're taking about but I've experienced no lag on my N4 with stock or custom ROMs. I haven't come across a ROM which has any serious bugs or stability issues on the N4. Also, PIE is the only useful feature in your opinion. There are so many other useful features available IMO.

That makes no sense. There are no buggy roms on nexus devices. They're stable because nexus are aosp devices.
Don't make stuff up.

Cyanogenmod 7 circle mod

I would like to have my vanilla Cyanogenmod 7 ROM use the circle mod, preferably the one that has those indentations on it and the percentage. Is there a flashable zip around for that?

i don't think there's separate zip for that. probably upgrading to newer cm version would do it. cm 10.1 has that feature.
hope you're asking about the battery indicator.. right?

[HELP]i9505 standard and i9505 Black Edition

Hi
I am new to this forums because I'm buying i9505 soon, the problem is I want i9505 BE but would I be able to flash standard ROMs? (non BE)
I saw another similar topic but it was only a confusion. So would I be able to do it? I don't care about wallpapers and tones.
Thanks
Apart from the a few wallpapers/tones its the same software

It's the same phone. It only has a different type of black color than the standard S4's Black Myst color and has that fancy leather-looking back cover. Other than that they are identical. Which means all GT-I9505 roms will work on it.

That's the Google Play Edition version. It also has the same hardware. Only difference is that it comes with Stock android experience (No Touchwiz theme).
I don't know how much development there is for the I9505G variant, but I recommend getting the normal I9505. It's the same hardware but there is more development support.
