Do we know whether apps like Watch ON and the sensor extras (motion/eye tracking) will be supported by the google edition phone? My guess is we wont have to wait long to get the Google edition software onto our AT&T versions.
Google edition will have a pure android aosp system, and that means no.

According to this.. Maybe..
The article can be found here.. The photo below shows it having air gestures and view so MAYBE its all true or maybe its still just a rumor at this point..
Maybe not WatchOn but the it blaster may still work with an app from the play store if air gesture and air view are really going to be included..

No worries.
I hope the Google Edition does end up having some sort of support for the IR blaster, ect, but I really doubt that will happen. What I'm really looking forward to is better camera support...the camera software on current AOSP roms is woefully inadequate, especially considering how mediocre the camera is in the first place...

I was running SlimBean for a while, but now I'm running WanamLite, and I'm thinking about trying out Android Revolution HD. Like you, I don't really care about eye tracking/air gestures...but the camera just kills the AOSP experience for me.

I would like to request devs to port a Galaxy S rom to Nexus S because of the media codec support and the touchwiz interface.
The Touchwiz UI alone is not enough because it misses all the useful additions that Samsung integrated into the ROM.
Buying a galaxy would be the best solution?
Dude it cost me a fortune to buy my mum a "star" god knows how much a galaxy will be!
I know what you mean but I think a galaxy rom would be a big downgrade on nexus....no gingerbread
Porting a galaxy s rom to the nexus s would be extremely hard if not impossible.
As the galaxy s runs android 2.2.
But since its the same hardware there is a possibility.

yup loved the touch focus
cant do 720p thanks to hardware limitation blame Google becasue they wanted to implement NFC crap the pretty much replaced the HD chip and Micro SD slot area.
But yea no doubt NS still better phone just wish we could utilize it for what its worth
I'm running CM and I do miss some things. Codecs, HW accelerated browser, touchwiz, swype... But it's not worth the crap that it comes with. RFS lag and flaky lagfixes, bloatware that's hardwired into the framework, interface lag (no JIT, makes a huge difference). Basically it's not a good tradeoff. Once I have voodoo sound and swype back I'll forget Samsung ROMS.

The movies I've converted look good enough. Nothing over 2gb works but think about it......its a phone not a home entertainment system. It works great as a portable device. If I want to watch something in full HD there are better ways than a 4 inch screen.

The face unlock seems cool but what is your in a dark place like a bar. I hope they have an alternate way to unlocking it in that situation.
The new camera app looks sweet and I love how fast it can snap pictures on the Galaxy Nexus.
Taking out physical buttons was brilliant. Not only does it make the screen bigger but this way you can have what ever buttons you like (fully customizable). Unlike now as I never use the search button on my Dinc.
i Love the idea of the facial recognition, im sure rooted devices could eventually impliment thaf into unlocking apps too.
and when they had the mess up, it looked like it went to the pattern unlock, so i guess thats a back up.
the buttons was also great, much more room for larger screens, but the lack of physical buttons also worries me a bit.
hopefully some nice development will come out of this, so far i think this is the best android version with the most features and ui changes

I like the new font.
it may not seem practical with our phones, but you could always use the other camera, turn your phone facing you, and hope it recognized you.
the bricked layout is nice, its not as simple as windows phones, but its a great balance between simplicity and advanced customizability.
also i believe some apks in ics will be ported for other android versions too.

Yes, most likely through market updates. Although if your willing to try you could attempt to install the apk from the system dump. I might mess something else up though, and even if it didn't I don't think the gmail widget would work.

i want s4 camera basically all those features of s4 camera so is there any other way i can get that on my aosp rom
and as a base i have used our stock google aosp rom no mod nothing
I guess No. As it requires a different set of framework.
Off-topic: I hope people here don't eat you alive but sadly the most common answer to such threads on xda is: "What a loser, why buy Nexus..Go get a Samsung.. Huh"
s4 camera hardware is completely different than the nexus 4 camera hardware, how do you expect the s4 camera on a nexus 4?? and no, porting the s4 rom onto the n4 isnt as easy as an app, theres much more to it, especially from a completely different phone with completely different drivers/framework/hardware.

It controls it all! The program Peel is fantastic. It's a tv guide & remote control all wrapped into one.
It blows away my Harmony One Universal Remote, hands down!
I use it all the time! It was one of the big selling points when i bought this model.

The people that did CM are using the European model & their models don't have the IR Blaster, therefore it's not functioning.

Honestly, if the camera is important to you, get used to Sense.
What's up with these bounty's ? Some sort of new 2014 trend or something ?
Sense camera is closely integrated with the Sense framework. Porting it to GPE is just not possible until HTC releases the specific drivers to run along with it.

Last night when I saw this thread I was thinking the exact same thing But...it's their money they can probably spend it any which way they choose on the things they feel are important for them :good:
Actually, it is possible. You would need to be rooted & you would need to write an exposed module to hook those app & direct the calls to secondary framework.
This is actually similar to what Amazon/Lab126 is doing with the HDX, minus the Xposed FW of course. They use moddified AOSP framework, but they also use Amazon framework for the Amazon specific applications. That is located in a secondary framework directory /vendor/amazon/framework, where you will find the amazon-res & additional framework-res.
It would be more a hack, going this route, plus it would take quite a lot of work, but it is possible. The tough thing is that you would likely have to write numerous redirects, since the HTC dialer is also heavily integrated into the people, messaging & email apps. It would likely be easier to switch to all those apps, but at that point, you are almost just as well off using the Sense based rom.
Also, unless there is a dev that is really craving this exact feature, $20 or $30 is a tough sell. There is a lot of documentation on Xposed & some good tut's. Have a go at it yourself. Once you get the Xposed module down, the rest would likely be a matter of pulling & testing the apk's & necessary libs.
$100 bounty for someone porting this phone into a flying batman.

Okay, just a little off topic. I am pretty sure you can do this now. Just a matter of Xposed & a module, or one of the open mic apps. The M8 supports hotword & the 801 has the ability to support always listening, but again, different topic for a different thread.
