I just saw some videos and people having some kinda RLOD "Red light of dead" bug in their phone, I'm guessing what are chances I can get that and how to prevent having that?
Also I ordered my new nexus 4 via ebay, and since it came from America to Europe, charger doesnt fit in my power supply aka wall so I'm using S3 Mini charger, will that work?

Yesterday I called Google customer service, can explained to them that my wall charger was making a buzzing noise. It was very annoying, and I ask them if they can do a warranty exchange for a new wall charger. They explained to me that they had no warranty exchange program for Nexus 4 phone wall chargers, but what they could do was send me a new phone with the wall charger in the box. WTF was that? They said it was their nexus 4 policy. I didn't want to exchange my phone because I already have a screen protector, and media inside. I told them to cancel the order.
Has anyone experienced the same? And why do they have to exchange the whole entire phone for a simple wall charger?

I'm in the same boat, kind of.. my phone changes from AC charging to USB charging, causing it to charge super slow.. and they won't do anything about the charger apparently.
Because the charger comes with the phone. They don't have separate chargers, so just buy one aftermarket.
I am in the same boat, don't want to RMA the phone, but the charger buzzes loud enough to keep me awake sometimes. My sense was that everyone's charger was doing this though, no?
I just turn on a fan.
Mine too.
looks like most people who bought this phone direct from play store experienced this, mine also.
but nexus 4 that released officially in my country, doesn't have this kind of issue.
different batch, perhaps?

i got mine from T-Mobile and my charger in the box does it as well. Not a big deal i use my Galaxy Nexus charger and all is well.
I just can't believe Google doesn't have a separate charger , that doesn't come included with the device

Bought from playstore here, first batch, my charger is dead silent. I'd rather have my charger buzz then my phone...that's for sure.

Is it safe to use the charger from the Samsung Galaxy S2 with my Nexus 4? It fits perfectly. Will it deplete the batteries health or anything? Thanks!

That's the whole point of making a standard charger. Of course it's safe, any micro USB charger is safe.
I'm charging my Sony Ericsson with Samsung charger in one room, and Nexus 7 charger in other room, and my SE charger is in my backpack to carry around.
It's safe and it's better you use the Samsung one rather than stock nexus 4, since it has deep problems! (red light of death)
I've used the charger of my Samsung Galaxy S2 a couple of times. Works fine.
So do other chargers, like my old Nokia 1.2A charger. And charging via Qi (Philips pad) and USB port of a PC works fine too.
Just make sure you use good quality chargers, and not fakes.
And yes sometimes it's hard to differentiate between the two...
I'm sure any micro usb charger is fine. I use different chargers all the time. If it fits, it'll charge.

The charger has nothing to do with causing the "red light of death".

If you'll look through Q&A there are several threads about it. People panic and create them instead of looking for others with the same problem. The phone shuts off and gives a blinking red led. Most of the time it's fixable
Hi everyone
I'm looking to buy a new charger/cable for my nexus 4, but I've heard some horror stories about generic\non-LG chargers killing nexus 4 devices
(red light of death or something...)
since I really care for my nexus 4, I wouldn't do anything that might potentially hurt it,
are micro usb cables from ebay (the 1$ kind) completely safe? to charge my phone through my laptop
and usb wall chargers (also - cheap from ebay)?
Just buy a charger from HTC, they are comparatively cheap for original accessories. I use my old charger from my HTC Desire all the time, no problems at all...

I prefer Samsung charger.. It will also not wear out the charger port.
Nexusâ´
If i remember right the cables aren't as much of a danger as the wall adapters. The adapters provide the power and if there is substantial ripple can kill a devices battery. However a charger from a known OEM should be fine (Samsung, HTC, LG ETC.)
Hope i helped :cyclops:
If you're willing to spend a decent of money on a good cable get one for $20. Lol. I still have one from Bestbuy. It's been 3+ years and it works and lasts longer than other USB cable I have ever used.

I have a nexus 4 that i just gave to my gf because i got a nexus 5. First i ordered a cheap qi charger on ebay that worked for awhile but after i returned the n4 to stock it wouldn't work...it would recognize the charger but would give a blinking light "error" on the charger. So I then bought a nice Nokia dt900 charger off ebay for the both of us thinking that the cheap ebay one from china was junk. Well its the same problem. My nexus 5 works great on the charger but the N4 wont charge. Like I said it recognizes the charger and the symbol on the battery (bolt) will go on and off every 5 or 10 seconds.
Anyone else have this issue?
It's finicky. The sweet spot is below center. I leave 1/4 inch of my dt900 exposed below the phone and it's always charged by morning. It does do some blinking but it gets the job done.

its def something wrong, cuz neither one will charge it right. But i have no idea how i would fix it. I dont see how it could be software especially being on stock 4.3
Update: Now its charging fine on the cheap ebay one but keeps going back and forth between charging and not charging on the nokia dt900. The nexus 5 charges perfectly on the nokia...i dont get it
Hi, after me and my brother took our Note 4's EUROPEAN MODEL N910F to pakistan the note 4 kept switching itself off. When we got back to the UK the note 4 still kept switching itself off. They were both under warranty and 'GeekSquad' from Carphone Warehouse are certified by Samsung and after repairing it they said they replaced the screen???? But I can't seem to imagine that the screen caused the Note 4's to keep switching themselves off randomly.
I know that in pakistan it is DC - Direct Current whereas in the UK AC - Alternating Current is used. Also in pakistan we left our phones in the socket charging and when the electricity went and the generator was turned on, the phones were still plugged into the wall charger. Could this have caused an electrical surge and broke something inside the phone?? My note 4 was just about 6 months old and my brothers was 9 months old.

Yes that is a likely cause and that's why you should plug your electronics in a anti-surge socket when you travel abroad, using a transformer is useful because of the difference in current transfer in countries.

Okay thanks! I just bought the note 5
What if I took a portable charger with me and charged the portable charger (without anti-surge socket) and then charged my phone from the portable charger? Would that work and would that prevent it happening again?

I just saw the Aukey Turbo Charger (compatible with note 5 fast charge/quick charge 2.0). It says on amazon that it also has surge protection built in. So this should protect my device?

If it states that it has anti-surge then it should, but I can't take responsibility. :good:
