I have a nexus 4 that i just gave to my gf because i got a nexus 5. First i ordered a cheap qi charger on ebay that worked for awhile but after i returned the n4 to stock it wouldn't work...it would recognize the charger but would give a blinking light "error" on the charger. So I then bought a nice Nokia dt900 charger off ebay for the both of us thinking that the cheap ebay one from china was junk. Well its the same problem. My nexus 5 works great on the charger but the N4 wont charge. Like I said it recognizes the charger and the symbol on the battery (bolt) will go on and off every 5 or 10 seconds.
Anyone else have this issue?
It's finicky. The sweet spot is below center. I leave 1/4 inch of my dt900 exposed below the phone and it's always charged by morning. It does do some blinking but it gets the job done.

its def something wrong, cuz neither one will charge it right. But i have no idea how i would fix it. I dont see how it could be software especially being on stock 4.3
Update: Now its charging fine on the cheap ebay one but keeps going back and forth between charging and not charging on the nokia dt900. The nexus 5 charges perfectly on the nokia...i dont get it

So i was playing dead trigger with my sixaxis (awesome combo btw) with an overclocked kernel. everything was going fine till i saw the 14% battery left window and it went away all by itself very fast. i didnt think anything of it. (this whole time i was plugged in) anyways, i played for another 45 mins and all the sudden, i got some static and then a shutoff. i let it sit for a while (maybe it overheated?) turned it back on 10 mins later. went good for 5 mins, then shut off. the screen was just black. i un and repluged in the charger and didnt get the white battery symbol. i was thinking "oh **** i just fried this thing" so i took the usb cable out of the charger and dont ask me why, but i smelled it. and i instantly knew, burnt electronics. got my droid x charger and plugged it in. instantly got the battery symbol. this is a temp fix cuz its only 700ma but does anyone know where i can get another charger, possibly better quality, or a way to fix this? for some reason my computer just doesnt have enough oomph to charge it. its probably only ~500ma.
Thanks in advance.
P.S. Anyone else have this problem?
yea happened with my wire too. like the adapter piece still works its just the usb wire thats fried
Found this link on the charger issues thread

it's not a detachable usb charger, but should work.

It might be my cable, but thats the one im using with the droid x charger soo... yeah.
i forgot to mention that the charger smelled burnt too but i though maybe it just runs hot.
Thanks for the link to the charger!
One last question.
is this the same way as the (dare i say it here) iphone charger that couldent support the phone running and charging the battery? because my friend burnt up his charger by doing that. im thinking about making a 30amp usb port and just let the onboard battery charger take care of it. then again, id rather the charger blow up than the little processor for charging the battery.
And JESUS these captcha's are freaking unreadable!
All of the voltage looks the same as the Asus charger. The reviews also state that it works like the OEM charger.

Well even though the charger seems to be working again, I will probably buy that one because the plug doesn't come right out the back of it. Thanks

*EDIT
Does it also do the same deep cycle charge that the OEM charger supposedly does?
I put a Nokia MicroUSB cable into the orginial wall plug. The name of the cable is CA-101 JX-USB. It's an official Nokia cable that came with the Nokia 5230 two years ago as a data cable.
When I plug it into the Nexus 4, the battery symbol shows that it is charging, but the whole symbol also blinks. And the screen doesn't go dark. I didn't really pay attention and when I woke up the next morning the phone was empty.
The cable works fine in two other Android phones I tested it with: The HTC Evo 3D and the Huawei U8600.
I won't use this cable again for my Nexus. I just wanted to warn everyone to be carful about the cable and also would like to ask if someone can explain this. Also I would like to know if this damaged my phone in any way.
Thank you!
I'm using the same exact cable since I bought N4 and never encounter the same problem?
In fact, I just bought another CA-101 as spare.

Hi!
I've just received the Q9 Wireless Charger from a manufacturer in china.
It's Qi-compatible and have been seen working with the Nexus 4.
Mine does not seem to work.
The manual says a led should be shining green when it's ready to charge or when it's charging. It's hard to read the chinese translated manual.
Mine just shines red and blue constantly and nothing is happening with the phone.
Am i doing something wrong? Do i have to activate it in my phone? I've tried putting it in any direction in any place on the pad.
Someone have a clue?

I have the Energizer Qi charger and when I place the phone on the charging plate, a light over the plate shines a steady blue until charging is complete. Flashing multiple colors (especially if one of them is red) probably means there is a problem with the charging system or the power.

That's what i'm afraid of. The thing is that the leads shows blue and red all the time, even when the phone's of the pad. Updating with a picture.
try position it with the centre?
Done that too...

Is the power cord connected securely? Maybe it's not pushed in completely (or shouldn't be pushed in so far).
For what it's worth that's not the Qi symbol on the charge plate.
If possible, send it back for replacement. It seems to me that those two LEDs should light up for no more hen a few seconds after the device is plugged in and then turn off until they nerd to indicate some condition like charge complete or error.

I have the Q9 charger for couple of days.
It's takes many tries of locating Nexus 4 on chargers surface to make it work.
Many times (most of my tries) I unable to make it work at all.
I am wary disappointed with this charger. It was waist of many.
I shouldn't have to be such cheapskate.
Q9 Qi-charger broken
I had mine for about a week now. Used it with my Nexus 4. Charges the Nexus quickly, but when at 100% it stops charging. Only when unplugging charger and re-plugging it, it will charge again. One morning Nexus was at 77% while laying on charger. After a few times unplugging, the connector was pushed into the charger leaving it useless. Do not buy!
Just got one too
I have to place my Nexus towards the top of the charger for it to activate and start charging.
Took me a while to find the correct placement.
My pad is supposed to flash blue when its charging - It starts charging and then seems to stop, then start again, then stop - not sure if this is normal or not.
So far i'm pretty disappointed with it, I assume because I got a cheapy from china that this isn't the normal experience with QI chargers, but I doubt I will be buying another until I see someone else with a much better model.

IF IVE HELPED PLEASE HIT THANKS
I bought the DT-900 earlier on this week assuming it would work as it's QI compatible but have heard stories on here of people getting issues.
Should I just send it back without bothering to open the package?

From what i heard is that Nokia wireless chargers cannot be used by android devices and in some cases may even be hazardous to your phone.
I wouldn`t try it myself.
-Edit- It seems the 4.2.2 update made it compatible, look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38019440#post38019440.
Thanks I'll test it tonight then and report back if I have any issues.
I have one and it works okay. The charging light on the charger stays constantly lit with the phone on it but the charging text on the phone will cut on and off for about a minute then eventually become steady. I also found that the position of the phone on the charger is critical, I place mine so that about an inch of the bottom of the charger is still visible. It doesn't work so well if the phone is directly centered on the device. It would give me a 30% boost in about an hour so its working okay. I was using it everyday for two months so I don't know where people come off saying it will damage your phone especially when they don't even own it. I had to stop using it as I put a Ringke case on it and you can't charge thru it.
Edit; I took the case off and it seems to be charging better since I update to 4.2.2. It will now lock onto charging almost immediately even centered.
That's good to know. I'm quite looking forward to using it now.
Will report my findings tomorrow.
Right just to confirm, it's working fine for me. Yes the charging text flickers on and off a few times but the phone eventually settled down nicely.
Got the charger on my desk. Really loving this phone even more now!

I bought 2 of the Nokia Wireless Charging Plate DT-900s and all was well and good Thursday night. I left my nexus 4 on over night and it charged fine. Friday night, however, different story. I woke up to a dead phone. Thinking it slipped or something, I thought nothing of it. Saturday night I heard the connect notification followed by the 14% notification for about 3 mins and Sunday I woke up to a mostly dead phone. Last night and today I have tried placing my nexus 4 on there in different orientations and swapped both chargers out to no luck. I put my nexus 7 (2013) and it stayed connected for 10 mins without issue. Is there anything I can do to my nexus 4, outside of a factory reset, that would be a good troubleshooting step? As always, any and all help and information is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

i would also like some information on this subject. i have a DT-900 from my 920 and it disconnects and reconnects constantly. i thought about returning my n4 back to complete stock but i was wanting to see if this would help before trying it.
You have to fine a sweet spot . I had mine nexus 4 charge and stop but I played around with the position and found on that works great. Maybe a weak QI receiver BC I had no issuse using my lumia 920

Apparently only revision 12 and higher Nexus 4 devices work well with all Qi chargers. Unforrunately, I have an r11 device and bought three of these Nokia chargers. One worked for an evening, another worked off and on, and the third one hasn't been opened yet.
Guess I'll keep it plugged in. Maybe the N5's wireless charging will allow use of these chargers.
I'm having the same issue with the same Nokia wireless qi charger - sometimes it works great, mostly not.
The N4 registers a connection with the audio tone, the white charger LED lights, the charging icon on the N4 shows it is taking a charge, but nothing (much) happens - maybe a slight charge but nothing significant. The battery usage screen shows the phone has been connected and has received a continuous charge.
The fix seems to be to reboot the phone. Then everything works as expected. But that defeats the purpose of having a wireless charger on my desk - I just want to be able to pick up the phone, use it and put it back without worrying if it is going to charge or not.
This is so frustrating. I charge my phone by USB at night so it's not a deal breaker but wondering if this is a recent issue (I have only had my N4 for 3 weeks).
EDIT: just confirmed I have a Rev 11 N4. So is this a known issue? Reason to RMA?
