Hi everyone, sorry for opening a new thread, I was not sure where to put it.
Today I've played with one new HTC 802W (ONE DUAL SIM) in Hanoi, Vietnam.... and I noticed it has only 1.5GB of RAM So I am confused. Shouldn't it have 2 GB, or a little less? not 500 MB less. My friend on HTC ONE (single sim) has 1,7 GB available to use.
I benchmarked the phone, it is very close to Galaxy S4. Quality seems to be pretty good, so I don't think it is a fake.
Here are few images. does this phone look ok to you? Does it look like real HTC ?
It also says for camera "megapixel" instead of ultrapixel, but I suppose this is software error in the benchmark application.
Please help me.
It is ok. It is not fake.
Just do some ota update until it reach the latest os 4.21.1402.5 and it's benchmark will beyond s4
It will take some huge data plan.. Try to do it at high speed wifi connection.

I can't do that there... not comfortable to update phone at their shop lol.
will do that in my country when i am back. i will need to delete chinese stuff and put stock HTC firmware. This is solvable, right? I saw some buides here.
p.s. what do you say about RAM? Why only 1.5GB usable?

Hey All,
Does anyone have a list of confirmed features thats going to be added on the official 2.2 ota update. I've searched around for a bit but can't find a simple list of what's going on it and what's not.
E.g Is it getting wifi tethering (apparently so) and is it going to get apps2sd?
I'm pretty sure it's not getting full flash support and I'm betting it's not going to get Live Wallpapers either (Unless it's on a custom ROM, but i'm not interested in them atm)
Thanks a lot
It is getting a2sd, and wifi tethering, thats about it. Definitely no flash support (ever) and no LWPs.

If you are going to update to official 2.2, you can`t root. SO please, think before acting, we don`t need another person to whine about not being able to root, we have enough of them
don't say ever xD

My computer hates everything about the rooting process so I decided to wait for the update.
Additionally, I found a site earlier which claimed the update carries a performance boost and an increase in battery life. Both of which are needed tbh :L

I decided to install froyo.
There are no live wallpapers
jit is not enabled
wifi teathering is
so is apps to sd for supported apps
the camera now works in portrate mode
but still only shoots low res
there is no flash 10.1 but the flash lite as found in the eclair rom is there
IT WILL UPGRDE YOUR HBOOT AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ROOT
and the app backup function has been hidden

Hardly. If you look around the forums a bit, people are complaining far more after the update about lags, poor battery life et al. The only solution is to format phone + SD, and, after that, it is normal, but, there is no "gain" over 2.1
For me its running at the same speed

Long story short, I had the uk desire HD and loved it. My only complaint was the washed out photos and 2g service...(rogers)
But now Telus has launched their new hspa network in winnipeg.... so I could have it again in its full glory.....
I am on my phone right now (2g) so I can't research much...
How are the latest roms and kernels?
Any gingerbread ports yet?
Thx in advance

The Telus device appears to have different audio chipset, so current custom ROM's are resulting in the loss of sound to your device, which being a phone is currently a bit of a show stopper bug

whoa, this is horrible news.... and lame all at the same time.... so no one has a telus device, working properly? Sounds like a simple driver tweak, but I am no developer....
I was about to flash my dhd tonight, and it was one of the main reasons I picked it over the iphone 4..... this could be a short lived purchase.
Also, is it ALL sound? The handset won't even work? /cries
If you look through the "no sound" thread you will see a fellow member wrote a new kernel allowing you to use different roms. Im about to try revolution hd myself right now.
Is that you kakarot from Redflag? you and your phones
Or if you want to stick with stock for now without any other kernels, you can downgrade using the "downgrade from 1.8x/1.72" thread and make a gold card and go to town. Then search for the "randroid" telus rooted 1.84 rom.
ahahha, yes it is me.... lol, my phone issue is getting much worse it seems... as I now have 2 nice phones on 2 different companies....
are they "specific" roms only that have this fix? any links appreciated. thx again....
I am not a big fan of stock, I like to root/unlock/flash/custom/kernels... I had the desire hd uk version, but got tired of 2g.... thought I would do the telus one because of the new hspa network (which so far, the upload is amazing, but download is pretty darn average).
I think I will pm u
search for the "raidroid telus rom" and use that one for now. You can use the revolution rom and use the Telus kernel.
Trust me, it works with either of them. Until the source gets released (prob next week) thats all we have for now (which is quite a bit for a new phone)
Im rooted and unlocked on Rogers.
Yea, Thx. I tried it but the sound was horrible....so now I am on the stock one.... I need more flashing, Hahaha..... I'm on tells but my rogers works as well.

Has anyone had a problem where after flashing your telus sim could not connect to the thelus network?
i have rooted and s-off and eng s-off. downgraded worked fine obviously. had the no sound problem but telus sim still worked. after flashing to a different ROM my telus sim no longer works in my DHD. seems to work with rogers and bell though. my sim also works in other DHD's but not mine.
any help is greatly appreciated!
Vodafone Australia has announced the FOTA of 2.3 for the Desire HD today.

Great news! Australian HTC Desire HD owners are getting an update to Gingerbread (Android 2.3) starting from today. Over the next few weeks, your handsets will receive a notification inviting you to update the phone software. We recommend connecting to a WiFi network to download the update. Thanks for your patience and we hope you enjoy Gingerbread.

I upgraded with the RUU a couple of weeks ago, but it's good to see everyone else is finally getting it.
Well after a some testing it seems that the update from vodafone aus also has the poor wifi connectivity bug.
I have also noticed that the dialer seems to be using quite a bit more battery usage than before the update. it seems vodafone have put some of their crap-ware in the dialer package and that is causing the problem.
Hows everyone else's update experience going?

Battery life and the absence of bloatware are two reasons why I switched to CyanogenMod 7. (As well as the extraordinary wait for the update to 2.3.)
If your phone is rooted you can flash a new radio and RIL to get better wifi connectivity (and 3G/HSPA). If you're interested, these are available in the DHD Development forum.
I now get 3-4 days from a single charge. I hope I don't need warranty because it's voided...
I've been using custom ROMs soon after getting my phone, I wonder do I need to revert back to Vodafone AU ROM to receive the update?
Ya updated mine yesterday (3 Australia) but sad that it don't come with Sense 3.0 ...

Which RUU did you use? I've been asking Vodafone if they have one to flash.
I actually have been trying to install but I keep getting an error when it re-starts for the installation process. Gets about a 1/4 way then I get a red triangle with an exclamation point in the centre...
Any pointers or suggestions?

I have an unlocked DHD that i imported from the UK before they were out in aus
I've had my first S4 for 7 days. Needed 3 hard resets in the first week - UI freezes, hangs etc. Took it back to Telstra, confirmed bad hardware and gave me a new phone. Second handset has been fantastic - fast, smooth, stable.
Most Samsung features work pretty well - drama shot for junior sports coaching is an excellent idea. Love the fact that I can upgrade storage via SD card, link with Dropbox and can swap the battery for higher capacity if needs be. No need as yet - heavy use and my battery lasts more than 10 hours.
If you experience any interface issues, get the handset swapped: probably just a rare lemon. Thanks to everyone who responded on this thread.
Initial issues: features are unstable (gestures, air view, smart scroll, interface and keyboard hangs).
Now I definitely don't regret this new phone having used many different types over the years (Blackberry, HTC TiTan Windows mobile, iPhone 3, iPhone 4, now Android).
Send it back to Telstra for a replacement

Should be fine. No issues what so ever with mine on Optus - rooted and remove all Optus craps.
Of course it will. When you have all your music, pictures and some data sitting on a slow device (like an old sd card), then indexing slows down (picture gallery, videos, music. map data). Like any IT system, a fast phone will be slowed down by the slowest link - if that bottleneck is the sd card, then it needs to be remediated.
That is the reason why I did not get the S4. To new technology for me to mess with.

Will definitely update the thread title to more accurately reflect my experience with the device. But surely I need more than 3 hours for the device to prove itself??
Flash performance, and SW performance degrades over time, so I'm giving this phone 48 hours to prove it's stable, before changing my mind.
I'm not convinced yet, but at least the signs are positive in the first 3 hours.

Of course I will, once satisfied this was just a bad piece of hardware one-off. But performance degraded over time, I will post updates over the weekend and hopefully change this title to "satisfied" on Sunday (ie 48 hours to ensure it was just an anomaly)
Yep, i think you got a lemon

24 hours after exchanging the handset, I must say this one is much more stable and I have confidence in my choice again.Hopefully it continues to please and there's no freeze. 24 hours now of smooth use, no hangups/freezes.
But, the native email app crashes every now and then, only while checking Exchange emails. Anybody else seeing that?

1. My explanation is the stock camera app isn't that sophisticated. Other gurus have mod. version. You can try out. I have not.
2. That's bad as it shouldn't be that way.
3. I suppose the 4G icon will be shown on the notification. If you don't trust that, you can run SpeedTest to find out the exact rate.
4. I don't know but rumors indicated that France will get KitKat before anyone else, including U.S. which should be in late March '14.
For your camera problem there are 2 solutions.First is to flash the mod from xda forum or to flash an AOKP,CM,Pacman rom.The stock Android Camera App Captures the best photos and never blury...For 4.4 just flash a 4.4 rom!
