Any of u has any idea when there will b kitkat update for our sm-p600???
There are enough thread about this topic. We don't now, if a update come. But there are good chance for 4.4 Kitkat, but we must wait and patient.

Why do you care about RAM usage? Android is going to use most of the RAM anyway, it's how it works. And it's only for better performance.

Okay, how about a desire for less lag? One can hope, right? I know the 4.4.2 update on my Moto X reduced an already smooth system even more, otherwise the "improvements" were not really noticeable. However, with the purported touchwiz UI update many potential improvements are possible, especially with the reported speed of the 12" version out now.

I have 10.1 2014 and new 8.4. I've frozen some apps from 10.1, and use ssLauncher, no lag, great performance, great battery life. New 8.4 running new UI from Samsung sometimes still lags. Eventually I'll use another launcher and will freeze apps, for now I'm just running rooted stock.

You won't hear me crying, you also won't hear me say this tablet is lag free. Not that it matters to Samsung but I voice my dissatisfaction with my wallet.
The tablet has great potential and I hoping the refined UI makes some of it available.

Do you use an external sd card? Read somewhere that its the external sd card use that causes the wake up delay. Not saying it as a fact, just something i read.

I think it depends on the speed & brand of your card, I bought a Samsung 64GB Class 10 UHS-1 Grade 1 70MB/s card from Amazon and I don't notice any lag whatsoever.

I have lot of good quality, corrupt free pdf files, which upon copy pasting in my P601's internal memory cause-Unfortunate,IndexService has stopped. I tried every possible way but this issue still persist. So hope its resolved in next update.
Fingers crossed.
& BTW will India get Kitkat updates?
Wake up lag is a exynos problem as far as I know. My sgs3 has the same lag as the note 10.1 2014. The note 10.1 variants with the other chip (qualcomm?)*shouldn't have the wake up lag.
Just something I've read though, but both my exynos devices have a slight wake up delay.

If you are coming from an EVO, then hell yes it's a good choice! But be wary, ICS on Note sucks. Either stick with Official Gingerbread, or jump straight to Official Leaked Jelly Bean.

Its a good phone with great development still !
Stock ICS is okay-ish, But whack in a custom kernel (essential) and it will make a massive difference, Besides, there are some awesome JellyBean leaks out now with tons of features so theres no point even thinking about ICS.... its history.
However, If you had that little extra $$$ why not consider getting the Note 2 ? there are some deals in the UK where the phone is free, but the montly payment is around £35 GBP
I assume thats what you meant by free right ? cause if someone is actually giving you this for free with NO contract at all....... TAKE IT !!!!
Note is always a good phone to buy even after 6 months from now. For now it has enough power that is needed by a tab or phone....
I am using it for the past 9 months and is still on stock ics 4.0.4 and its working way too perfect for me no lags or hangs. Still a best choice at a now reasonable price. Go for it.

They stick their half-assed Gingerbread UI to ICS, made performance worse, and totally makes a total mess that makes Note completely horriffic to use.
JB solved all that. Almost thrown my phone out of the window.

I have some old people that are rocking ics just fine. Its all relative, some better experience on ics, some gb, some jb.
Personally I was dissapointed with ics cause it would better utilize the hardware then gb. Considering the hardware integration in OS functionality, it wasnt to great. Android wide problem.
Problem I have JB is the ram bloitedness. The phone slows doen when apps are loaded, whilst theoretically this shouldnt be the case for android OS.
I notice the degradation of its specs in performance. So if your going to buy something that should last I'd recommend buying the newest stuff.
However if you do light browsing, no multitasking, then this is a perfect device, now also cheaper.
If you do multitasking, even with supercharging and bulletprooving apps you will find loads of reloads when switching apps. Kinda sickens me, why load it in memory if it cant keep the state properly (apple can do this)... The newest leaks look promising, but they will lag.. Then again if youre a light user it should be fine.
I noticed I almost never use pc when I got this phone.

Yep, TW-ICS really sucked.
Have not noticed any of the ram problems you have mentioned although I haven't been on JB-TW for a very long time.Try CM10.1.The new builds are very good !
Ics dont suck at all. The earlier releases of ics had some issues but those that are released late like in the regions of india pakistan and middle east. Its working way too perfect, with no ram leaks and plenty unused memory. They fixed the battery and other issues. Yes the notification menu is almost same as was in the GB. But overall a better experience than GB.
Note and s2 are among the first phones to get the ics.

I cannot understand why some people say that ICS on the Note sucks. In fact it runs smoothly, it's stable, no problems at all. The only disadvantage of ICS is the brickbug. JB on the other hand is still in beta stage. If you go for JB you will have to deal with force closed app, sudden sleep of death, bootloops and the like. JB on the Note is not ready to be used as everydays rom. It's not yet reliable.

Running ICS stock with speedmod kernal and the only complaint I have day to day about the phone is the black crush in videos. Otherwise its great. Battery life, power, phone use, gps, etc, etc.
I'm not sure if there is too much crap in the default kernel, or if the cpu is being underclocked somewhere. But this 'feels' choppier to me then the S3 ever did which should not be the case. I can be in facebook and just scrolling along and poof .5 sec lag then it jumps ahead of where I wanted to go, and I am seeing this all over. Even in the play store installing apps. Suggestions ?

Thank God it's not just me. I just exchanged the One that I bought on the 23rd for the S4 today and noticed a bunch of lag. Kind of upsetting. All the reviews I watched there was no lag at all. The One and the S4 have the same chip but the One is clocked at 1.7. Doesn't make any sense that it's snappier than the S4. I REALLY hope I don't regret my decision because the One I had was very good quality control wise..
I've noticed a bit of a slow down when unlocking from the lock screen and opening the app drawer. Nothing major but pretty annoying. The One I traded in today had nothing like that. Oh well.

I also experience lag on my gs4. Not terrible, but my gs3 is faster in everyday use.
It's gotta be able to be fixed through an update right? If it's happening to all of us..
My international exynos I9500 has a bunch of lag also so don't feel bad guys. My guess is that it has to do with the 4.2 Jellybean. That version is pretty much optimized for the Nexus 4 (which I had) and had almost zero lag. That was probably the snappiest android device I've used along with the Note 2.
The HTC One is still on 4.1 so my guess once it's updated to 4.2 it will lag just the same until the overlays are optimized for it (Sense and TW).
In this meantime it's kinda bullsh1t that a phone with this much power still has more lag than a prior gen Galaxy S3.
I use a note 2 and I see the lag in the s4. A new "flagship" device shouldn't have this much lag on it even with all the bloat... The s3 didn't even lag like this which is kinda sad.
Whoever can show their lag on the clip. This would help me and others. I'm now curious since I've been on my Nexus 4 with 4.2.2 for a while now that I'm so used to lag that I dont even notice it.

Here is mine. The lag is not bad, but pretty much everywhere. Obviously an issue with 4.2.2. I don't know. When it doesn't lag the phone is super smooth. I hope they fix this soon.
Samsung obviously didn't optimize their software to run properly on 4.2.2. Makes me miss how fluid the UI was on the Note 2.
Not the best quality, but still good enough to see.

Why would you clear your ram...
With 2 gb theres no need to. Plus its fluid when you leave it alone. Thats like using a task manager from the play store.

For tests like this, it's best to clear ram so you're starting with an empty plate. Just like if you were benchmarking, running browser speed tests, etc.

I wouldn't say it looks laggy. It's more sluggish. But its pretty minor.
It's not as fluid as I want it to be. I might get annoyed.

Can you do one after the reset. And another one with ALL the gimick features off? Thanks.
Noticed exactly the same on my mates gs3 - it was unusable, up to 3 seconds till home launcher and frequent redraws.
Samsung completely kills androids performance, and for that price and hardware its a shame.
Thats why many people prefer apple - my iPod Touch with 200 apps still runned better than my mates gs3 for almost the double price with 50 apps. Android is getting very, very slow after some use. Calls, sms, apps, after every month you'll loose lets say 10% of performance, related to how you use your phone, more performance loss in the beginning, less after some use.
And touchwiz makes everything sloooww :/
You only notice, when you install 300 apps on iPhone and gs4. Gs4 will lag, I can gurantee.
Especially 4.2.2 was a kind of downgrade, lots things are "tasty" things, you may like or not.
IF Google could bring beak Gingerbreads performance and ram managment + project butter and some new features on android 5.0, I would marry them
I just did this video about 10 minutes ago and would like to get some input on it. I will try to do when in more depth video when I have time.

Hi all, the nexus 4 is the devices that I want to buy, but I wanted to ask you something: is it the most lagfree device avaible in the market? How is it after installing many apps? I've read in many reviews that's the smoothest android device, but I would like some confirmations
PS: I have a galaxy ace and I know that the nexus 4 will definitely be a super-upgrade
I've got about 100 or so installed apps and it works just fine.
Edit: just checked. I have 129 apps.

Its definitely one of the fastest out there if not the fastest. The pure Google experience that you get with the phone is awesome. If you like to flash your phone there's a huge variety of roms that can be personalized to the tiniest details, and with the right combination of a rom and a decent kernel you will forget what lag is.

With a nexus 4 you won't "need" to flash anything, you can do it if you want some extra customizations, but even the stock rom is lag free. Install apex or nova launcher and boost animation/window speed, and you'll get an even snappier experience.

I played with HTC One which is claimed to be the fastest, smoothest, and powerful Android phone. Yes it is! But sometimes you will have the stutter feeling when opening apps, just sometimes though, and it is somewhat unpredictable. its fast but not quite like a Nexus. you have to experience it to know what i mean. plus most apps are developed based on a Nexus, so yeah you'll have the best experience.
I have about 113 apps and still no lag. stock everything until last week i flashed franco kernel. planning to jump onto cyanogenmod tomorrow.
With all the things you say, you make me desire more and more the nexus!
I'm on stock, unlocked and rooted with 700hrs of up-time so far, no crashes other than a couple of 3rd party apps and no lag whatsoever =)

hey man, I came from cooper too and now I have an N4. It's a really good phone, specially when you flash franco's kernel and CM10.1 nightlys (yeah, you don't have anymore to wait updates from Maclaw, OldDroid or biel ). Battery life is good, and with franco kernel it's even better.
All the UI and system apps are really smooth, but when using some apps it's a pain to scrool (apps's fault). Videos and music also play without interruptions. Buy it, you will not regret.
Well I also have a note 10.1 and I'm not sure I'm noticing the lag you're talking about in the facebook app...

Had my N4 since Xmas and whilst the UI is smooth scrolling in certain apps is a pain, like XDA or tapatalk or facebook.
I have tried loads of roms, currently using Sabermod which has the least lag but there is still judder issues with some apps, ALL android devices that I have used (N1, S2, S3, N4) have suffered this problem. Until all major apps act as lag free as my launcher I cannot say the N4 is lag free

I don't think what you are describing is lag caused by the Nexus 4...
It's lag caused by your data speed.
With your facebook example, scolling sometimes stuters as it downloads the actual data & information from facebook itself.
The facebook app tries to place new information at the top & then it tens to want to automatically jump to the top.
If you were connected to LTE or even a fast WiFi connection that problem would be less noticable.
But as said earlier... it's just bad coding from facebook.
Come on man, the Nexus is amazing...
It has the same amount of RAM as my work computer, & lags less.
Personally I find the Nexus 4 to be a very fast device, I wont say lag free as I can certainly see some lag but is it the fastest device out? You bet, ive played around with a very new note 2 and an s4, the N4 seems to be much faster than the Note2 and marginally faster than the s4 just pressing the home button on those two devices show about .5 seconds slower than my n4 in action.
Battery life? Hmm struggle with mine if I am honest but I get a day now, it seems I get way less than everyone else and I am not sure why but I feel i got unlucky with my device and I pray to god I have a faulty power button or something so I can RMA within the warranty to hope for a new device haha.
Its the best value phone and has pretty much the same specs as the top phones, whats not to like? And its a Nexus .
Maybe I should add that the device is also faster than the iphones/ipads I have used which shocked me as people always praised their performance... lol, the N4 is simply held back by some poorly coded applications but what can you do? Hope Developers get better

Strange; I install the factory ROM onto my N4 and N10, and was quickly reminded as to what lag truly was... it was not pleasing :/
Hey everyone!
Just got the Galaxy S4 in my hands (i9505). Before it I had a HTC One and a iPhone 5. I don't know if everyone knows it but both devices running very smooth. You just got NO, really NO lags - never. On HTC One you got even no lags on third party apps like Chrome or Opera browser.
On your Galaxy S4 you will sadly notice more often lags. There is no browser running smoothly, no gallery showing you pictures smoothly. Just launcher and a few more third party apps are running very smoothly.
Why is that so? How can we change? Tested roms like Wanam Lite or Revolution (roms that doesn't change/add much) and also some Kernel. I never noticed a smoother performance.
Help needed - I think everyone is interested in improving the performance.

Samsung rushed the phone to launch it. It will take a few updates to make it run realy smooth, it allready improved a lot compared to the first rom it came out with. BTW Android Revolution runs realy smooth imo. Also turning off some unneeded Samsung features improves performance.
swap for I9500 LOL

Try flashing stock android 4.3 from google edition. No lag, works perfectly.

Any 4.3 based rom should run absolutely smoothly. Unfortunately to get this you'll have to flash your device.
I'm sending this from my S4 on CM 10.2 and it's smoother than an iPhone 5 on ios7 beta!

If you type in iphone 5 lag you will get 24 million results... Galaxy S4 only 4 million...
Since i got the revisited DBT 4.2.2 MGA rom yesterday it has become much speedier and snappy imo. Its a great phone but it still needs a bit of work software wise. Overall i`am very happy with the device.

WOW golly geeeeeeez, so the iPhone is 6 times better than the S4
Lol, the S3 was absolutely useless. Laggy, does not multi-task (i9300) cracks around bezel, uses yesterday hardware (Mali 400) etc....
The i9505 is far better and essentially solved the woes that the S3 had. Perhaps a few more firmware update will do the trick.
