How hard will it be to create custom kitkat roms on our current twrp or cwm recoveries?

Using twrp ...Whatever the most recent is 2.6.3?
I,have successfully installed cm10.2 Roms in the past.. However when I do the same with a kitkat ROM.. It always fails, I've tried paranoid and cm..... I've wiped, cleared cache and dalvik but alas to no avail :3
Does anybody have suggestions? I almost died of smiles when knock on worked in 4.3 cm (kind of) but I'm sick of the stock ROM and lg's...... Sh-ware

There's a discontinued 2.6.3.4 in the Original Development section. Flashes kk ROMs just fine

Seems flashing that particular recovery with flashify is... Unhelpful xD just fails to boot into even lg's three power button precursor

Yeah, I encountered problems through flashify too. I just flashed the zip from TWRP 2.6.3.x, then rebooted the recovery.

Hey for 4.4 Roms you need twrp 2.6.3.3...comes in a zip so easy enough to just flash!....also Philz custom cwm recovery supports 4.4
yeah update recovery, but also do a system and data wipe as well.
be sure to have a backup
and fully downloaded rom.

Hi guys, I'm extremely troubled. I am running the stock firmware 10b. I rooted and tried to install custom roms. When I flash custom roms, I get some errors. I seem to be able to flash gapps And other mods, but I just can't install custom roms. Is there any fix?

I can't seem to flash any 4.4.2 roms because I have the old 6.0.3.2 twrp and there is no twrp for the D803 model.
I've been flashing flex roms and such and all work fine but the new roms give me the "failed to flash binary" error.
Anyone with a Canadian variant that knows what I can do? Should I move to the CWM recovery instead?
Thanks in advance.

have you guys tried freegee from the playstore?
I think that might have been how I installed twrp originally. Thanks

Why don't you use philz recovery.
It uses the new binary zips by default and has an option to allow the use of the old binary.

How does one even install CWM?
I've been stuck on TWRP 2.6.3.2 for a bit. I tried to install CWM via loki but that failed, because CWM is not lokified. Then I tried the dd method, and that just bricked recovery, and I had to flash stock firmware to get recovery back.
Is there a custom recovery for the HDX 8.9?

This ^
Meaning no CyanogenMod or KitKat based Roms.
ive had the AT&T d800 for a year and a half now. i used ioroot to root the phone, and autorec to have a custom recovery. whenever i try to flash a rom, it always fails without doing anything. i dont want to go through the trouble to revert the phone back to stock jelly bean just so i can flash roms again. how can i flash roms without fully restoring my phone back to jelly bean?
Current Version
Android: 4.4.2 Kitkat
ROM version: Stock D80020k
TWRP: 2.7.0.0
tired of stock always being buggy...
Did you heard of autorec? It restores jellybean bootloader which allows you to flash roms which still uses the old loki method without the need to restore back to antthing else. Btw I also suggest to update recovery. If you do autorec, choose the right version for your model.

Yes just flashed the bumped recovery. If you would ever upgrade to the kk bootloader for some reason like custom lp stock roms then you have to have an bumped recovery else you will get an lg security error
