Error 0x1117008 - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi i have a d800 model of lg rooted 4.2.2 i have read a thread saying that you can update to kitkat even though rooted by calling ATT to push first the 10q update to your phone before pushing the main kitkat update and i tried that called ATT but after they pushed the 10q update i got this error saying ERROR 0X1117008 then it rebbots saying your phone is suspected rooted there is no update for rooted phones...can anyone explain this on me is it really possible to get the KK update even though rooted?

according to my thorough reading of the at&t kit kat roll out thread if you have modified anything it wont allow the install of the update what most people did was return to 10d via the lg flash tool root(and not change anything), update to 10o make sure root survived if not then root, then get att to push 10q check if root survived if not then root manually and then get att to push the 20c(kitkat) and fingers cross root would survive but there were the few which root did not survive and would start all over again hope this helps :good:

Thank you so much for the reply now its clear to me thats why im having error because i modified something..again thank you Zombie i really appreciate it.

you are welcome good luck with your update and if root isn't that important remember that bifau posted the dll and tot files in the at&t g2 development thread so that's another option if you are just planning on checking out whats new and then jumping back :victory:

Thank you zombie will check that .

the implications of ROOT

hello!
i just got my N4 a few days ago...
didnt even change a ringtone yet... just downloaded some apps, and costumized the phone a-bit.
i do want to root, because some advanced actions such as recording calls (legal in my country) require root.
i was about to root using the Nexus 4 ToolKit posted here:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1995688
but when i run it it always says its tookit ver v1.3.0, and a 1.6.0 is avilable, i update but when i re-run it, it says its 1.3 again...
and even if i go past this step and get to the "What build do you have?
the only answer i can pic is 4.2 (JOP24C)
and i own JOP24D (2.4.1) - will this be an issue?
and also - if i root my phone, and lets say androud 4.2.2 comes out a day later, does the phone still update? or do i stop getting updates as soon as im rooted?
TY!

If you get the donate version it will update it so that you can do the 4.2.1 build. I think it was like $5. Well worth supporting the dev

alright cool i don't mind paying 5USD...
but what about the most important things?
does rooting 100% erase evetyhing?
Do i keep getting updates to my phone? or when a new version comes out i have to re-root or something?
It will erase EVERYTHING and you would have to go back to stock to get the OTA or wait for a build to be flashable

If the ROM got OTA (over the air) you can update i guess, not really populair with OTA, but you can download 4.2.2 stock ROM or custom ROM when it comes out.

i just have one more question - that i didnt understand.
as of now, unrooted, if 4.3(lets say) comes out tommorow, my device updates, bam.. im 4.3
if i root now, at 4.2.1, the above will not happen? meaning in order to update to 4.3 i will have to lose all my data again?

ashamed to say i didnt really get it.. lol.
you said OTA is "Over the Air", right?
so if i rooted at 4.2.1 (just rooted, no rom or anything), and 4.3 came out do i
1. Have to delete everything AGAIN and re-root on 4.3 to get the update
2. have to find the 4.3 file online and install it somehow
3. do nothing, the phone automatically gets updated
ty =)

Getting root on your device does not delete anything. What deletes everything is unlocking the bootloader (which, at the present time, is required to obtain root). You only have to unlock the bootloader once. Once it is unlocked, getting root is trivial.
Every time you receive an over-the-air update, it will remove your root access, BUT, as I mentioned earlier, getting it back is trivial when your bootloader is unlocked.

Have you read the stickies in the General and Q&A sections? There is a couple of stickies by me in the General section (the "Basics" and "Root" links in my signature), and there is also a sticky by Jubakuba in the Q&A section.

I did not!
I will do so as soon as I'm done with work.
Will prolly open a thread titled "rooted 4.2, how do i update to 4.2.1" unless its in the stickies..

The easiest way is to wait for the OTA notification to appear on your device. Then just accept it, and then root again.
I've written up something for the Galaxy Nexus (sticky in the GNex General section), but nothing yet for the N4. The basic premise (and most of the commands) are the same. You can browse through it for some background info.

Updates after Rooting AT&T G2 ?

If I root the phone using below, do i receive updates from AT&T ? Does it break the software ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45692679#post45692679
Yes you will NOT be able to receive the updates from AT&T. You can restore to stock if you want to take the update, or you could wait a few hours till the devs here strip it, root it, make it better in every way, and then upgrade to it. Either way, carrier updates shouldn't keep you from rooting if you want to.

Is there a step by step guide to restore to stock for AT&T ?

[Q] Recent OTA update

I am rooted with TWRP and flashed the G-Flex mod for the dual window. Stock Verizon.
I currently love my phone setup right now and don't want to have to return to stock, so I have a few questions about this OTA:
1. What is in the OTA, and is it worth taking?
2. Is there a way I can completely ignore the OTA and get it to stop reminding me?
3. If I do decide to take the OTA, will OTA rootkeeper allow me to OTA update and stay rooted?
4. If I do decided to reset my phone to stock, I should follow this guide right? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476
Thanks for the help.

Rayglobe 3.2 also have dual window.
I wouldn't take the OTA since you have custom recovery (TWRP). I'll let someone with more knowledge chime in but don't take it.
Theres a certain apk you freeze in order to stop it from loading the OTA reminder but it depends on your phone. Some carriers are different.

thanks, I'll try to find the apk to freeze. I won't take it, but it seems like it keeps popping up saying its going to do it at a scheduled time, and I'm just hoping it won't do it overnight when I can't stop it.
Is the process for removing root or TWRP much harder than the process for setting it up? If its not too much trouble I can go back to stock for the update and reflash all my mods, etc.

I haven't rooted my replacement G2 yet - does flashing this most recent OTA update make rooting the phone any more difficult?
not sure, it seems to be able to reroot. Also read something about rootkeeper app, but cannot confirm it's effectivity.

[Q] Root access lost after OTA update - LG G2

OK, I allowed an OTA update to kitkat without thinking. Titanium backup and Superuser now report they don't have root access. I re-ran the root process and received a success notification.
I'm new to the rooting game and am sure the fix (if there is one) is simple. I did a search on the web and through various forums and have not found anything specific for my device (which is no surprise since the update i so recent).
I would appreciate any input...or disregard if your feel it was not worthy of a response
Thanks either way!
You'll have to downgrade to 4.2.2 using the back to stock guide found in the general section. Not hard and had to do it myself.

Republic Wireless Soak Tests 4.4.4 - I have the update!

So I got chosen for the 1000 user soak test. Sadly I seem to be unable to take it. I have an unlocked bootloader an am rooted. I tried to remove Xposed Framework and unroot, but with no success.
When I revert back to a clean 4.4.2, I loose the soak test it seems. I have captured the update file though. You guys can dig through it.
I also tried to use the fastboot command "update (filename)" but got some errors. You guys let me know what you think.

Thanks friend, I've been waiting for someone to capture the OTA. Have you attempted to revert to clean 4.4.2 using the sbf yet? I am going to try just that. I've never put together a flahable update .zip but I'll attempt to make a rooted update out of this if I'm successful (unless someone beats me to it).

I need to flash back to a clean 4.4.2 then rename the file update.zip, put it into /sdcard then boot into recovery to take the update. I'll keep everyone posted. I'm still at work for 6-8 more hours.

Thanks, I did the same thing and successfully updated to 4.4.4. I'll root and try to make a TWRP-flashable update to save others the hassle of using the sbf.
But in the meantime, heres the instructions I posted when the 4.4.2 update was captured early if anyone doesn't want to wait: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52113875
THANKS!
Worked perfectly on mine! Thanks you! I wiped cache before rebooting as well. Phone seems more fluid again. :good:
It worked !!!!!
Just tried twice on my 1st gen MotoX. The update.zip file aborted both times. Guess I'll wait for the RW update - anyone else had any luck ???
UPDATE:
The zip file was corrupted, redownloaded went smoothly - THX
4.4.4 Downgrade?
Hello folks,
This is my first time here on the forums. So I could be asking some pretty noob questions. However about 2 months ago RW sent me a moto x 2013 for my hard efforts as a salesman. And being only 17 years old with a free phone was amazing. So I had 4.4.3 since its been here. And I by mistake updated today to 4.4.4. And now my root is lost and my phone is sloe as can be. And my girlfriend already hates how long it takes to send a text. Any help for a brother to downgrade to 4.4.3 or 4.4.2? Or at least a stable root for 4.4.4 for the time being as I wait for the s6 edge to come out. Thanks in advanced mates!
Is there a way to get the whole image?

You can't unless you buy a code from the "Chinese middleman" if they are even still around.

As far as I'm aware, he isn't around anymore (glad I got to him when I did), so the only means of unlocking the RW Moto X's bootloader is to somehow find one that was never updated to 4.4.4 and use Sunshine
