Didn't mean to thank this he's not looking to downgrade and root, he wants to flash back to stock. Just use the same firmware package as whatever you were on.

In the same process of downgrading you can stay on stock MK2 OR NB1.

OP said he's planning to send it in though so it's best not to do any downgrade.

So pretty much as title states.. just wanted to find out whether I'd have to re-root the phone and if I would lose LTE (I think I would lose LTE, but not sure about root)? Also, overall, is 4.4 worth upgrading to?
thanks lots!
IMHO update is definitely worth it. You'll lose root and LTE. But you can easily just reroot and flash a LTE radio.

This device is so easy to root don't worry about it. Do you have a custom recovery? If so find the update.zip. If you don't try the ota. If you've changed system files out probably won't work but if you haven't it will

i actually used to have 4.3 on this nexus, but reverted back to 4.2 because when i did it, you couldn't have LTE with 4.3.. so you saying you can flash the radio with 4.4 now?

Are there any 4.4.3 custom kernels released yet?
I have not rooted my S5 yet and I updated to firmware NI2 and now I want to root it. How do I do this without tripping Knox?
Sent from my SM-G900V using XDA Free mobile app
Use Towelroot method.
Will that work even though the kernel is from September?

No
Could I just flash an old kernel, root, then flash back to the NI2 kernel?

Sorry, I'm new to Odin, but can I just flash the boot.img or do I have to convert it to a .tar.md5? And also, will converting it give it a different signature meaning it will trip Knox?

I have the newest kernel so towelroot does not work. Is there any other way?
