I have to send my s4 back to at&t and need to downgrade it back to stock, i was reading all kinds of different ways, just wanted to make sure i have this right before i do it, odin the 4.2.2 stock firmware, and use triangle away to reset the flash counter? Is that correct, baseband is UCUFMLD and its MDF v1.0 Release 2

Didn't mean to thank this he's not looking to downgrade and root, he wants to flash back to stock. Just use the same firmware package as whatever you were on.

In the same process of downgrading you can stay on stock MK2 OR NB1.

OP said he's planning to send it in though so it's best not to do any downgrade.

The only way to go back to stock from a custom rom is to odin full nb1. From the link I post it before. You cant use firmare from sammobile. I did try without success.

You can use either cf auto root and root the same way as you did with mdl or you can use crawj's mf9 stock rooted tar and odin that to get rooted.

OK thanks alot for the speedy reply. Didn't know if the cfauto root would work with the mf9 build. I did searh, but couldn't find anything. I did see the options u mentioned though.

Not really possible ATM. No tar file available. So you are in a way stuck with 4.3 rooted.

Not really unless cnexus makes a stock odexed rom then we can just flash that, flash stock kernel and stock recovery and unroot. Then do a factory wipe. But we dont have those files so if you modded your phone. You stuck until we can get a working tar or the files needed.

I think I saw in the general section that there is a tar file for Odin now. You may want to check there

Yes, the full MJA tar file is available on sammobile.com, download it and flash with odin.

Safestrap question.

Hello I did a search and can't get a straight answer. I have the att gs4 4.2.2 rooted and I'm wondering what version of safestrap I need. I see mixed answers like 3.65, 3.71, 3.72 and I'm not quite sure which is it. Help will be much appreciated!

You need to search and read. It depends which version of 4.4.2 you're on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=49562527

Check in settings/ more/ about device towards the end what build you have. If you are on 4.2.2 you dont need safestrap any recovery can do. If you are on 4.4.2 its a different story you have a whole different process before you get safestrap. Safestrap use is for locked bootloaders that came after builds NB1 and NC1.
Since you are already rooted there is no use for safestrap. If you are looking to flash custom roms check the ones are compatible with your present build.

Thank you but I installed another recovery a while back and it deleted my stock recovery. I posted on here asking what I need to do and they told me safestrap. I'll keep looking around.

If you're on mdb/mdl firmware all you need to do is put on a custom recovery to flash roms. This should help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42320391

See the second post in the link. You will need safestrap if you're on mf3. But you might want to consider updating your firmware to mk2 then see the first link I gave you. That way you'll be able to flash 4.4.2 roms

He can just accept the OTA in settings/more software update or go to the link provided and flash the full nb1 through Odin.
