Well, When I arrived to my home to lunch today I was to check my Touch to send a message and I saw this! (See attachment)
I really don't know what happened! the phone doesn't suffered a hit or drop! the screen surface doesn't have any scratch.
Oh well, I will order a new screen from here...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290160074209
What do you think?
Ouch..sorry
i've drop mine few month back, puting my touch between my lap while i step out from my car. #@#$%!
send back to HTC Distributor cost me couple of hundred. LCD broken is Touch weakness. my previous 838pro drop twice doesnt even break the lcd.
ouch. that's a broken touch
Same happend with mine too... Some where I must have put a pressure on my touch while I had it on my pant pocket... Screen cracked in to pices... Had to spend 100$ to get it changed by HTC... I dont know how to protect, it was inside the pouch which came along with touch...
It does state in HTCs documents with the phone not to keep it in your pocket, but this is the first time I heard of damage as a result!
I have almost had the same things.... the screen cracked but without having any pressure.. I have always the touch in my pocket in the pouch but everything is still working fine there is just a crack in the screen but it looks like a 1cm long scratch .. and if I put a little pressure it's like moving (left part move apart from the right part) but I can't use it normally .. I have been so lucky !
how can we be responsible for having to press hard to use it but the screen is easy broken .... it's really baaaaad !! it's not our fault if they did something conflicting !
ohh I'm so sorry man, because of that I'm still thinking to choose between a HTC Elf or the Kaiser one, I have read some german test about the Elf and other pocket phones and they warned specially about carrying the Elf on your pocket. Anyway the price and the shipping price are OK, but don't you have an authorized distributor for HTC's produtcs in Venezuela? If you do the work by yourself you will loose the warranty.
In Venezuela they will say "que coƱazo"
i bet this will happen more often w/ touch & touch slider. the screen is even w/ housing unlike other htc pda's which have the screen recessed into housing. just look at all the broken iphone's on ebay already.

Keys in the same pocket? happend once to my MP3 plyer
I had the same experience. Turned my touch off and placed it on my desk, the next morning there was a tiny crack in the bottom left corner and the entire screen was shining Whit e(like a screen full of dead pixels).
I could still use the PDA on my PC using mymobiler. HKD$500 to get repaired even though I tried to prove that I never dropped it or scratched the screen.
I suspect some of the Touch's have faulty manufacturing, but with screen cracks its impossible to prove that you didn't damage it yourself.
@ #6
Not a dig at you, but that document
Hahahaha so where do they suppose you keep your phone when your out? hold it in full view of the public?
Damn, is there an application/software that can fix that? Just teasing. Seriously though, that's tragic. I believe the more advance devices become, the more sensitive it is. I think way off in the distant future, high tech devices will come with a metal casing or something. I lent my girlfriend, of four years, my unlocked sony ericsson p910i phone. She shattered the lcd by accident by having keys in her pocket. She then asks me, can I fix it, lol.!!!

Thanks, I'll try this for the next one
pressure
this looks like a pressure problem. and although im not sure how it may of happened to you folks, but my girlfriends laptop did the exact same thing when we went to tibet.
tibet is so high up that the air pressure is quite low, like half of normal if not less, its really tough to breathe and canned foods almost explode when the pressure gets that low.
Now for you, and i'm just guessing here, but by any chance was it raining the day or the day before your screen broke? i mean low pressure system could of done it if its a really touchy device to begin with. have to remember, these things are made at or near sea level. if you live in high altittude, and a storm comes through it may just be enough to blow it out. I only say this because what i see on your screen and what happened to my girls ibook are nearly identical. Does the black blob move? she had three of them, and they would shift across the screen, not fast enough to watch, but noticeable over the course of a day or so.
that and combing it with a weaker screen with a error in it
as, i heard before from people having tach screens, is that it can crack very easlie, i have a friend how has the same problem with his Iphone, he just charge it, and when he wookup he found it all cracked and broken.
so from now on he need to charge it over work only
Ok, I replaced the screen, very easy to disarm the phone
Got a refurb. from alltel for an insurance replacement for a cracked screen on the 18th Friday of last week.... Today I was having some issues with the touch screen and ended up maybe pressing some buttons too hard and now the LCD is cracked....
The screen also has the burn in white spot... What are the chances of them believing me.. Its what really happened and there are NO marks on the outside of the phone.... I have to say it must be a defective LCD...

That is common with all makes of this phone. You could easily get a replacement for that, but it will probably show up again in the future.

And if you mention the white spot to HTC, they'll swear you're the first person complaining about it!
Good luck getting the replacement. If they balk, stick to your guns and move up the chain of command. Eventually, you'll find someone who realizes their days are numbered once the Verizon sale is finalized and just doesn't give a damn.
went to two stores with no luck... had them activate an old BlackBerry and its killing me...
This happened to me, when my mogul got stolen, it was replaced with a refurb by the insurance, the screen cracked after 3 days, I took it back again and got a different one, they said it was from putting it in my hot car, but my first mogul I had for 6 months and never had this problem.
Dear all,
anybody already experienced a broken touch screen?
My Leo fell from 50cm to the ground (tiles), just on the edge. The sound it hit the ground already let me knew - bad suprise...
If you have already some experiences with broken screens: Is there a way to repair it? Is it be affordable?
The device itself seems to work as usual. Even in the upper right corner, the sensitivity seems fair. But I fear a breaking screen as already some glassy bits drissel out...
Thx for tipps
TC
i belive its called digitizer on most touch screens.
not sure if HD2 has different technology.
but the LCD screen is separate from the touchscreen part(thats what you broke)
search ebay for HTC HD2 digitizer
heres the ebay link i bought a camera LCD display from them few times

Hey dude,
Check out this thread
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=613954&page=20
I broke my glass on my screen and ordered a new digitizer, stripped it apart, broke the LCD in the process (a common occurrence as the glass/LCD glue is STRONG), ordered a new LCD, repaired and it works.. didn't quite go back together as it started (slight gap in case, buttons don't come through as much as they used to). Now have the problem of the 'bubble wrap' showing on the screen in a few places.
In short, yes it can be done but if you want it doing right get a professional to do it..
Any one else with there own experiences?
heat it up so the glue is soft and comes off easier, between the screen and digitizer.
if you have sun leave it in the sun to get it up to good temperature.
safest way since it will not get too hot where it melts.
I have a LG G2 VS-980. The top half of my screen was completely unresponsive to touch so I decided to open it up and take a look. The digitizer cable that sits on the glass has been peeled off. Is there any way I can replace this myself? It looks to be sitting on there with just glue.

I'm on same issue.
mine is the screen not responsive about half inch.
Take a look the attached.
I'm assuming this is hardware relative since this happens in recovery mode.

Yes, It's hardware. My first thought was do a factory reset, but no luck. I know there are several places online to get and new digitizer or digitizer plus LCD combo, both are sold with new ribbons already connected to the digitizer. I'm just trying to find if I can reconnect the ribbons myself without having to buy a $70 and up digitizer and LCD combo. It came loose completely by itself. I've never dropped the phone or mistreated it in any way, so I'm also worried if I buy a new digitizer then the same thing will happen again. I've contacted a few places that repair smart phones but they have no idea only just doing some research myself. So now I'm here looking for some professional help.
So here it goes. I've had nothing but issues with screens on the G2. My first G2 had the glass separating from the frame during the first few weeks that I had it, then it decided to go into a boot loop randomly and Sprint replaced it.
My second G2 initially was fine but then of course the glass started separating after a few months from the frame and I just ignored it. About 8 months later I dropped and and cracked the digitizer, luckily I had synced my bluetooth keyboard/mouse to it and was able to back everything up.
I then ordered a LCD/Digitizer/Frame assembly. I installed it and noticed the frame and the glass were separating and I could see the back light like my other screens, this one also had some white spots and looked like pressure damage. The seller tells me that they accidentally sent me a defective screen (a "return") so they send me another one, which I notice has the glass already separating from the frame, at this point I don't really care anymore and just deal with the one I have already and leave the "new" one on the shelf.
About 6 months later a portion of the screen stops responding and sometimes will go crazy clicking and swiping everything. So I decide to order some 3M 3mm tape to properly adhere the glass to the frame of the "new" one I have on the shelf. I followed a guide and it all seemed to go smoothly, I let it dry for a week to make sure it won't start separating like the others. I tried installing it and while it looks great, the phone runs super slow, and touches respond after about 20 seconds. I unplugged the digitizer connections and it still runs super slow with my bluetooth keyboard/mouse. I plugged back in the connections and went into recovery and noticed it was just clicking everything and going crazy. I also noticed I couldn't power the screen off, I had to hold the power button down until the phone shut off.
I ended up putting my old screen back in and it works fine, other than the small portion of the screen that is unresponsive.
Any ideas? I feel just ordering a brand new phone, but I'm pretty sure it'll just have the same issue after a few months ..

What are you doing with it so that the glass separates from the frame? do you use a cover? could you post some pictures?

Nothing crazy. I use it and am typically pretty careful. I had my Epic 4g for 3 years and never had any issues with it.
First one did not have a case, I have had a case for the second one and it took longer to develop the issue.
It seems to be a pretty common issue due to the bezel being so small.
