Hello Forum,
Newbie so excuse me if wrong section. I picked up a Xperia Z1 C6903 from eBay as spares/repairs (so I do not know history) turns out the phone is in working order (mirrored actions with my Xperia Z) but the screen display is black with no visuals (touch screen works).
Can someone tell me if they have experienced the same problem with the Z1 C6903 and if they managed to solve it?
(quite a few XZUltra mention SOD (Sleep Of Death) on forum but with no fix - but my problem is the phone is still active but no diplay)
I hoping this is a firmware issue and will attempt to root to original firmware as it is currently on the latest 257 FW - I have managed to take screenshot from the service menu.
So can i get advice - what is the best way to root it to original firmware (bootloader locked) with minimal risk of bricking it as i have never rooted a phone before but I am tech savy & quick learner - PC companion or Flash tool?
Thanks in advance :good:

How did you do the screenshots if the Display is Black all the time? or is not? Is sometime still working like in boot when the logo Sony appear that mean is not faulty and is software related.
Use Flashtool and flash a Stock Generic Unbranded FTF for your model. Let's see if the display will be back.
The screen is always black but responsive to touch - I placed the Xperia Z1 beside my Xperia Z and mirrored each touch to get to the service menu - it took a few attempts but I managed to take screenshot and NFC image to my Xperia Z
I think the problem is with display maybe hardware or software as i am not sure how it may have been caused as i do not know the history - but strange how it still operates
will read more in depth on flashing before attempting to do it as i have no experince in this field YET and do not want to brick it :fingers-crossed:

Hi guys,
because I have so much trouble with rooting, I created a FTF file with flashtool so I can flash back to stock faster.
And if someone needs the file, here is the download for you:
Google Drive Download
It`s working fine, because I tried it many times to get back from a failed rooting attempt!
It`s the German unbranded Version of the new 10.1.A.1.434
Just flash with flashtool.
Have fun!

When flashing with flashtool from 350, do I need to wipe data and cache, or just appslog?

It think this is not needed, because it`s only a update.
If you update via pc companion it will also don`t wipe data.
Mind posting steps on how to flash .ftf?
I have to send mine in for repairs.

Before you start flashing anything make sure you have a fully charged phone
1 Download and install flashtool from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2162907
2.Make sure all drivers are installed for the XZ (you can also use flashtool to install drivers as shown in the pictures below)

3 Once you have installed Flashtool you need to place the ftf (ROM) in the "firmware" folder as you can see in the picture
4 Then start up Flashtool and make sure it's in "Flashmode" (see picture) and click "OK"
5 Now you should get this screen (see picture below)
6 After you have unticked the "DATA" and "CACHE" (or left it the way it is) you will see this screen (see picture below)
Once finish flashing unplug the USB cable and turn on your XZ
I hope that helps.
AW: [FTF] [Xperia Z] Stock German 10.1.A.1.434 unbranded
And be sure to use the latest version of flashtool that was build for Xperia Z!

UK generic .244 R6B - (since pcc release)
Was messing around last night and noticed that stamina mode is suddenly working?
It wasnt working (not changing the time) after updating and hasnt since.
But now its working fine? anyone else had this? as my friends z is still showing no difference when activating stamina mode.
Strangely, the only thing I have changed recently was getting xda premium xD

Nothing starnge.. many people have faced this issue and, it automatically started working. no one knows whats causing the issue or whats solving it
Found differences in R6B after reset phone.
Found and suspected something interesting which is same as our 4.1.2 .350 firmware and inside this 4.2.2 .244 R6B firmware
BE (Belgium) : minor APK for stamina Mode called "Eco Mode Controller"(i forgot the size) which is kinda useless until i need use "BatteryGuru Qualcomm" to get power-saving mode
UK (United Kingdom): minor APK for stamina Mode called "Extended Standby Mode Controller" (about 20.00KB) which is working properly !!! On Par with "BatteryGuru On with Stamina Mode Off". I only got this thing when i reflash UK FTF with wipe data) I suspecting something different that makes staminamode working back..hmm

Correct me if wrong Whitefang
Hello, comrades!
I'm newbie in writing threads, so no rage please, just nice explanation why am I wrong. Thank you
Recently I've changed my phone to Sony Z3 Compact, which I bought on eBay and I didn't realise that my phone model was SO-02G, which means that there is different firmware and firmware developer for it. Since I used Android 5.0 for about a month on my Sony Z1, I knew that I need 5.0 on my new phone as well, but there is no such a firmware yet for my phone. Quick google search and google translate helped me in obtaining 5.0 for SO-02G. I hope my thread wil help someone and if there are any japanese speakers, that are ready to contribute to my adoptation of Google Translated text - fell free to correct me. Arigato :fingers-crossed:

Be ready to lose NFC support after this.
In order to obtain Android 5.0 and above for your SO-02G you should have:
Flashtool with all drivers ready to go
Sony Docomo Z3c itself
Sony D5803 (Z3 Compact) Nordic Customized Android Firmware that you want (5.0 and above)
USB cable (Yes, I should mention this )
15-20 minutes of your time
The guide itself:
First of all, you need to do backup of your data, because otherwise you will get an error or non-working phone. Do you want so? I doubt it.
Then you should proceed with usual flashing steps, beggining with launching Flashtool, connecting your smartphone and clicking flash button.
Select Flashmode

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Then flash it.
After a little while your phone will start with new Android Lollipop, but after about a minute of "upgrading NFC firware" it will return an error saying that NFC is no longer avaliable and if you need to get NFC support back - you should flash Docomo firmware back and everything is going to be allright.
All firwares are avaliable at xda forum.
This topic brought to you by Neckronus adapted translation of 8wired.jp guide and if you can help to translate some more details, please do, I will greatly appreciate it.
**UPDATE 12.11.2016:
YOU MIGHT GET NFC SUPPORT AFTER FLASHING ANDROID 5 YET THE CHANCE IS TOTALLY RANDOM AND THERE IS NO EXPLANATION ON HOW IT WORKS
Hi nice guide friend
I have the same issue with my z3 it's a sol26 Japanese version with 32g of storage I also flashed a global version rom but that turned my storage to an only 16g then I downloaded the sol26 original rom still didn't flash it but its locked carrier and I am afraid of being locked
Any ideas bro?
Thanks
Just exclude "PARTITION"...
In case you flashed mistakenly, flash original device's FTF with including it.
@AndroPlus
Thank you for your reply...just one thing I wanted to ask the phone is unlocked for any operator yet I only found a carrier rom so if I flashed it would it lock the phone?

I assume flashing a stock ROM and a factory wipe doesn't help?
a stock rom and a hard reset after should solve this issue, when you flash firmware for phone, touchscreen firmware should be replaced too
No. I tried and it did not help.
up.. Any help would be appreciated
did you replaced your screen?
i have 2 i9505 and i replaced both phone screens, and after that i update the rom,and now the softkeys dont work.
Thats because the display replacements are not orginal and cant handle with the newest FW
you need do downgrade your phone and buy a new display and then dont upgrade your phone anymore

Installed perfectly with OTA!
Multi-window, google now integrated in Sony home, double-tap square for prev. app.
That's what I noticed so far.

Didn't notice any bugs yet, haven't had enough time for that.
I also prefer stock home buttons. But overall, it seems good. Double window works OK, nougat's theme is beautiful, dual antenna icon's got more compact (that's a plus for dual owners).
I'm more interested in battery life though, hope we get the same battery life we had on lollipop.
Is encryption on by default in settings/security?
