GN3 - Mic muted with speakerphone and noise reduction turned on. - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I can't seem to figure this one out. It occurred on the stock rom before a rooted and is still occurring with Baja Rom.
I can use the speakerphone fine as long as I don't enable the noise reduction. As soon as I do, the other person can't hear me at all.
Any idea what can be causing this? It's quite annoying considering it's turned on by default. I've only had the phone for a day or so, and I use the speakerphone frequently for work.
Thanks!

White Noise in Background Calls

So the phone was working fine for a few days. All calls were clear, however today when I got home and made a call the call was not clear and had a background noise that sounds like a shower. All subsequent calls I make have this background noise and I tried rebooting the phone, putting my sim card in another phone (call was clear on other phone), and tried factory resetting the nexus. The noise still persists.
I was wondering if anyone else experienced this problem and what you would suggest I do. Thanks
edit: Sorry if I wasn't specific, the noise comes in from the earpiece and speakerphone. So it's what I would hear, not the other person. The other person on the line hears me fine without the noise.
EDIT #2: Lol nvm, a reboot fixed the problem.
EDIT: I read Goten's post again, and apparently my problem isn't like his. His problem is with the earpiece and speakerphone being noisy. The problem I'm experiencing is that the person on the line hears a noisy sound during calls.
Does anyone else have this problem?
I noticed that after the update to GRI40 2.3.3 (not sure if it started before that), people are saying that they can't understand me. It's exactly like what Gotenn described. I tested it myself and it sounded as if there's a lot of background noise, kind of like you're near a waterfall or something.
I've downloaded a voice recorder called Tape-a-Talk and my voice recordings are crystal clear, so I'm pretty sure the mic is still fine. Could there be a problem with the noise cancellation mic? Or is this a software problem? I've tried making a call using the handsfree set to make a call, and it sounded good. When I remove the handsfree from the 3.5mm slot, the sound became bad again.
I'm running stock gingerbread 2.3.3 GRI40 on my Nexus One. It was rooted (without unlocking bootloader) when it was on Froyo. It's not rooted on gingerbread because I did not unlock the bootloader.
I appreciate any help that you can give, thanks!

[Q] Mic cutting out repeatedly

Searched through most everywhere and found very few references to mic problems, but no solutions. My mic keeps dropping out during calls (not always, but often). If I switch to speakerphone the other end can hear me fine. It didn't do this for the first couple of weeks (month?), but then it happened 2-3 times in a row so I don't think it's a Sprint or tower issue. Now it's fairly regular.
I'm still stock, not rooted, so I may try doing a factory reset first, but this sure sounds like a hardware problem. But what confuses me is the speakerphone mic working. I thought the S4 only had one mic. If so, then it could be a software issue. Can anyone confirm it uses only one mic?
Thanks,
Greg

You are not the only one I have heard to be having this problem. I encountered this problem with my iPhone 4S after updating to the latest software! I couldnt hear anyone from the other end of the line which is very frustrating. I was asked to try a speaker with speakerphone capabilities until such time I could get it to the service center.
I got my Adfilic Soundbar with a 40% discount with the code J56LI8MN Go to Amazon and look for it.
I hope that helps with your dilemma as well.

[Q] Earpiece does not work: cannot hear calls

The earpiece on my Galaxy S4 (SPH-L720) does not work, so I cannot hear calls (or any other audio that uses the earpiece). The other person on the call can hear me fine and speakerphone and headphones work. I bought the phone used, so it seems like it would be a hardware problem, except for the fact that I am able to make it work by opening HwModuleTest (dial *#0*#) and pressing the receiver button. This creates a tone through the earpiece and the problem goes away until for a while, only to come back at seemingly random intervals, or when I reboot. All this was happening with the stock firmware (4.4.2).
I then switched to CyanogenMod 11 M12 (4.4.4), because I do not like the stock OS and because I hoped it might solve this problem. Unfortunately, the problem still remains, but I now have no way to mitigate it at all because CyanogenMod does not have HwModuleTest or something similar as far as I know.
I found a few similar problems on the internet, but they were are either unresolved or the solution did not work for me. A common cause was that the phone falsely detected that headphones were plugged in, but I don't think this is the problem because I used the SoundAbout app (as recommended in one case) to force the use of the earpiece and this did not fix the problem.
I was wondering if anyone had experienced the same problem or has any ideas of you to solve it. Thanks.I was wondering if anyone had experienced the same problem or has any ideas of you to solve it. Thanks.
Bump. Does anyone ever heard of this problem before?

Speakerphone turning off at random while on call.

Hello,
I have not seen a thread on this nor has Google searches helped but I have an issue I wanted to post to see if anyone else was having the issue.
I use my phone for work and often have it on speaker phone, out of no where the call goes quite and the person on the other end of the call can not hear me anymore. Upon looking at the phone the speaker phone seems to get disabled and the call goes back to the handset. This happens often when using the speakerphone but certain calls are worse then others.
In one call I had the speaker phone get disabled about 10 times which was close to every 30 seconds or so. This is very very annoying, I have also rebooted the phone. At this time I am not modded and have less then ten apps installed and I am pretty sure none of the apps I installed are causing the issue.
I will note that I do have the phone connected to bluetooth a lot and when the issue happened I tried to disable the bluetooth while on the call but the issue persisted.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue?
Speaker phone and Bluetooth turning off at random
I am having the exact same problem. But for me this happens with Bluetooth and speakerphone. This is getting really frustrating for me and potentially dangerous when I try to switch back to Bluetooth while driving.
Have you figured out a solution for this yet ?
