Hi,
my touchscreen is broken and I want to save some of my data. Specially the whatsapp chats.
I tried quite a few things, but nothing works.
I have USB-debugging activated, now I installed adb-driver, but it needs to be authorized by clicking on the phone and that doesnt work.
I dont have root.
Is there any way of getting my data back?

Hi,
I'm using the ESSential ROMs. Got an ELFin. got plenty of free memoty.
Doing any of the following actions might cause the phone to freeze partially: accessing contacts, replying to sms, trying to initiate a call.
Partially means that I'd still be able to acess "programs" and run most programs, then exit then rerun etc. However the "background" will not update. At this stage it's not possible to access contacts/message/call. At some point though, it might all get stuck. To remove the partial freeze, I have to soft reset twice. Once is never enough. Removing the battery/power off is basically the same.
Once it's partially frozen, task manager will not work properly and will freeze at about 20% before calculating the full CPU utilization.
Thanks for any help!
oo no replies. Is there anything else which I could add to assist you in providing some ideas? Thanks.
Why do not you make hard reset?
If it does not work out, change the ROM.
I have, the problem still persists after two ROM changes. I was hoping someone encountered a similar problem and managed to solve it...
Well I changed the ROM to Onyx and it works OK now
So, i just bought from a friend a Moto G4 Plus almost brand new, everything working great.
But this morning i realized my notifications dont show, i cant pull down quick settings, home button and recent screens button are non responsive and i cant see the lock screen anymore; I try to unlock my phone with the fingerprint sensor but it unlocks with any fingerprint or even just by pressing the on button.
With all these problems, I went online to search for possible explanations for all of this. I tried to factory reset it but the button is a little faint and it wont let me. I tried to hard reset it but it also wont let me do that. I uninstalled all the apps i had to see if any app had done this but everything still wouldnt work. Also tried deleting all other information but still, home button and all other things dont work and still cant factory reset.
Also tried factory resetting it with two different programs conectting it to my computer but neither program recognized my phone even though its battery was over 80%.
I am getting really frustrated. I mean, everything else works fine, but all these things should work and everything and its really frustrating trying to use the phone having to go back on everything to go to the home page.
Anybody have any suggestions or have had the same problem? Tomorrow im gonna take it to a guy i know who fixes phones but would really love to know if i can solve it myself.
Thanks in advance
Search here how to flash the stock from for your model. It should fix it unless its a hardware issue.

Just did, and int fixed everything, home buttons working, quick settings are coming down and all the other things.
But, now my network connections are unavailable. My mac address is 02:00:00:00:00:00, my ip address shows as unavailable and my phone also wont read my sim.
I already flashed it again and also tried restoring it to factory setting because now it lets me do it but nothing changes. I cant connect to anything on Wi-Fi, it just stays on the screen of Wi-Fi turning on
I had same issue when memory bocame full! I did hard reset.
OK this is weird.
I have my Note 3 running on Norma ROM v17 without problems and a ton of apps installed.
Few days ago I tried to use smart select (with the pen) when a toast message prompted "Unable to capture screenshot. Prevented by security policy." . Well I just ignored for the moment thinking that something went wrong with facebook app which I was trying to capture.
However this seems to be permanent behavior. I can't take screenshots neither by Power + Home combination neither by SmartCapture not even if I try to use a third party application!
Did anyone had faced the same problem again?
Can somebody point me to the direction to solve this?
One last addition.
I don't know if it is related to this problem but I have to report it. The device boot animation is getting resized to top left of the screen every time the device boots. What on earth can cause this?
I"m back wirh a solution.
I was for more days trying to discover how to solve this problem.
Finally I decided to backup my data and wipe the system.
And then I noticed a command lying in the menu called "Reset settings" which I had to try instead of resetting to factory default the phone.
So this command cleared the settings (I really dont know which particular settings were cleared though ) without losing my apps, data, phone setup etc.
The problem fixed.
:good:
Hi everyone!
I have a OP 2 for more than one and a half years now and never had any issues with it(stayed stock...) until recently. I didnt update the phone to the latest version and was putting it off, and today in the afternoon when I tried to unlock my phone it said the 'Fingerprint hardware is not available' and after unlocking the phone with the pattern, it IMMEDIATELY LOCKS ITSELF BACK !!! after split second it just locks the screen while everything is working like connection, wifi, messages, notifications, etc. but due to this I cannot access anything on the phone, can't go to settings and switch to onscreen nav bar buttons, can't force stop/wipe cache the com.fingerprints.serviceext either, tried restarting it several times, downloaded the update but can't even install it because the phone just locks!:crying: I have no idea what would fix it and I am avoiding a full reset and wipe on the phone(also based on all i have read, dont think it would fix it anyways)
If anyone knows whats the problem or has dealt with it or knows someone who has, please help me out here on how to fix this and what to do. I did not root it or flash custom ROM's on it yet and never had a flip cover or any sort of case so literally don't know why it happened.
Thanks in advance,
Max
Hi
I had the exact same issue with mine, I was on LineageOS and could access the logs so I was able to determine it was an hardware failure.
Went to a repair shop to replace the home button, and Bam it worked again.
If you didn't flash a custom ROM it is likely an hardware issue just like I had.
I have a GS5 that I dropped and broke the screen. The phone is fully functional except for the screen not displaying or the digitizer working. The phone is rooted on Lollipop and WiFi and USB debug mode are turned on. Bluetooth is turned off. Titanium backup is installed but for some reason wasn't running scheduled backups for some reason.
I have recovered contacts, photos, etc. I have not found a way to recover application data yet.
Based on what I have found, the only options to recover the app data seems to be either dr.fone or replacing the screen at least temporarily. I have a quote from a local shop who said they would recover the data by temporarily installing a screen for $80. I could buy a new screen for less than that, but I don't want to use the phone as there's some damage to the case etc and it's old anyway. I have a new GS5 (a donated one) that I've already got up and running. All I need is the app data. As for dr.fone, it says it can recover the data, but it needs root...which I have.
Does anyone have any idea on how to get dr.fone to work? Or, is there another option I'm not thinking of?
The other thing I've read is that I could simply plug the phone into a HDMI TV and it will automatically display. If so, I would simply need to get a hub compatible with the phone so I could also have my wireless keyboard/mouse installed. Is that a viable option? If so, I could run titanium backup normally and then just copy the data to the new phone.
