Help! My Moto G4 Plus wont let me factory reset - Moto G4 Plus Questions & Answers

So, i just bought from a friend a Moto G4 Plus almost brand new, everything working great.
But this morning i realized my notifications dont show, i cant pull down quick settings, home button and recent screens button are non responsive and i cant see the lock screen anymore; I try to unlock my phone with the fingerprint sensor but it unlocks with any fingerprint or even just by pressing the on button.
With all these problems, I went online to search for possible explanations for all of this. I tried to factory reset it but the button is a little faint and it wont let me. I tried to hard reset it but it also wont let me do that. I uninstalled all the apps i had to see if any app had done this but everything still wouldnt work. Also tried deleting all other information but still, home button and all other things dont work and still cant factory reset.
Also tried factory resetting it with two different programs conectting it to my computer but neither program recognized my phone even though its battery was over 80%.
I am getting really frustrated. I mean, everything else works fine, but all these things should work and everything and its really frustrating trying to use the phone having to go back on everything to go to the home page.
Anybody have any suggestions or have had the same problem? Tomorrow im gonna take it to a guy i know who fixes phones but would really love to know if i can solve it myself.
Thanks in advance

Search here how to flash the stock from for your model. It should fix it unless its a hardware issue.

Just did, and int fixed everything, home buttons working, quick settings are coming down and all the other things.
But, now my network connections are unavailable. My mac address is 02:00:00:00:00:00, my ip address shows as unavailable and my phone also wont read my sim.
I already flashed it again and also tried restoring it to factory setting because now it lets me do it but nothing changes. I cant connect to anything on Wi-Fi, it just stays on the screen of Wi-Fi turning on

I had same issue when memory bocame full! I did hard reset.

Need help with today screen failing to boot up

Okay, so yesterday i installed Skyfire and SPB Insight. It was allright, reboot was fine, but i didn't like the software so i uninstalled them.
After that, the phone works fine, then i reboot it and it just doesnt reboot. It passed the SE logo, Xperia splash, and the Windows Mobile Logo. It then stops while loading my today plugin. Nothing i can do about it.
I reset it through the reset button, and it only managed to load my phone 1 time out of 5 reboot. By now im thinking that it there were conflict with my plugin after that uninstall so i just Hard Reset my phone, and load the backup from SPB (only contact, task, email and messages, no program)
It then goes well, until the problem happened again
I had less software installed (didn't use a lot of it last time around) and all the software i have now was just fine when i had them installed in my phone a while ago. So whatever the problem was, it survived through hard reset. Unfortunately
I suspect this has something to do with today screen. All plugin that i have now (added one) are SPB Wireless monitor, SPB Backup, Beejive. I only use SPB wireless as my plugin, the rest is not.
So what should i do now? What might be the problem? Im on R1A, so i suspect it might be a bug, and im hanging on to wait till R3A comes out...or should i just flash custom ROM?
If anybody could shed some light on this, i would be very gratefull.
Regards
Sheen
give the battery the full " charge "
Have you checked |START|SETTINGS|PERSONAL|TODAY|ITEMS| to make sure your today screen items are checked?
@lakeg
Full charge?
Its not about the battery....the phone has no problem with hardware, it just stucks in that today screen unable to load the plugin
Any idea?

Yes, i did unchecked the Skyfire and SPB insight before i uninstalled them.
After Hard Reset i only have the Date, SPB Wireless, Messages, Calendar, and Lock device checked.
Also i might add, after i unsinstalled them my today screen was behaving weird. The today items that i use was swapping order, i tried to change them around again, soft reset, and the problem happened
Edit: Totally off topic, u live in Newcastle mate? i use to live there in Jesmond

If you are still having problems after a hard reset (|START|SETTINGS|SYSTEM|CLEAR STORAGE|) there might have been a change to your registry which is stuffing things up. Might be best to reflash your rom or flash a new one (Touch-It 7.1 is great!)

I did the hard reset via the hardware button method. Is there any different with the Clear Storage method?
And correct me if im wrong, but through hard reset isn't that means that we "reset" everything back to factory state? i mean the registry should just be reset back to default isn't it?
I'll hang on a bit while waiting for R3A, if it doesn't come out in 2 weeks or so i'll probably flash one of itje's ROM...but again, how about the change in registry that stuffed my phone up?
confusing

Not sure if it makes any difference what so ever. I also don't know if registry changes revert back after a hard reset. It just seems odd that you are still having issues after a hard reset...
Anyway... nothing a new rom won't fix.
Goodluck with it

alrighty then, thanks for ur help then mate
just an update on my problem,
It seems that the culprit behind it all is my provider. Yes, u read it right...the provider. My Cellular provider has been having problem lately with their services. Dropped calls, late sms, and most annoying of all a slow/barely useable internet conection. The signal would shows that its fine, but in reality it doesn't. It just shows that i have signal but the network sometimes doesnt work.
This i think might be the problem why my phone stuck on today screen. It sometimes shows that i have no signal and then just freeze, or it sometimes shows that i have signal but freeze anyway. My solution to this is that i put my phone into flight mode every time i want to soft reset it, no problem so far....it goes away smoothly into the today screen.
i'll keep u guys updated if this method fails
Nope...it still doesnt work...
i hard reset my phone twice today because the problem still persist....its driving me nuts
Can anybody help? please....
All i can do now is wait patiently for R3A and hope it'll fix this problem....if not, im giving up on my X1...so frustrating...

Phone going crazy

I'm having some serious issues with my phone. This morning the battery was suddenly drained completely, don’t know why yet. Then after charging the phone a bit and rebooting it, it constantly goes into driving mode and starting the voice command application. The most strange thing however is that when I choose to power off the phone, it shuts down but then automatically reboots.
I know I should try factory reset, but anyone else had this problem?
(I have original firmware and the phone isn't rooted)
EDIT:
Doing a hard reset seems to have solved the problem.
Maybe your power button is broken (constantly pressed)? Did the phone get wet?
I have not heard of this. I've heard of bootloops and the phone rebooting when trying to power off but thats usually due to custom roms and people flashing over other custom roms which causes conflict. I think factory reset may be the only option. However, with the Galaxy S there used to be a way to get into safe mode. I beleive you'd hit the menu button as soon as you saw the Galaxy S boot logo. I haven't heard of a safe mode yet for SGS2 but perhaps someone can confirm if its available in this model?
If you can still get into settings of the phone when its on, I'd try going into Settings > Applications > Manage Applications and clearning data for voice commands
It almost seems as though your phone is registering home button being clicked thereby turning voice mode on and also turning it back on after a power off.

Hi,
I was have exactly same problem, reset don't resolve my issue.
Solution was to replace my phone.
Thanks for the help, gonna try factory reset first. But this doesn't look like a software problem, so probably gonna need to replace it

Well this is a strange problem. Is it possible a bread crumb got under your buttons? Or some case is so tight it is pressing on some buttons?
Don't have a case around it, but the power button isn't stuck I think because wouldn't the menu for shutting down the phone etc. appaer constantly? And if it's something under the buttons then it is just bad design, had the phone only a couple of weeks.

I had the same problem mate. And that was exactly what I thought, I actually started a thread on this problem about 2 weeks ago. Was really strange, people told me to take it back. But What I did was factory reset on the phone. Which still didn't completely solve my problem. So I left the battery out the phone over night. The most annoying thing was, the screen kept turning on, like something was being pressed, can't have been the middle button, because the menu would have come up, it didn't do that. And then to make matters worse the tap to speak driving mode kept coming up.
I then took out the battery and left it out over night. Put it back in, in the morning. Charged it up. Didn't do it again.
Hope that helps. Try it.
Ok thanks, I will try it. It is really a strange problem as you say. After the factory reset the problem showed up again but not as often as before. Also after upgrading to latest firmware today, according to the battery monitor android OS is using 45%, that looks really strange to me.

Middle button not working after reset

Hey,
So I just completed a factory wipe and set up my phone again. Strangely though, the middle button on the phone that is defaulted to close all windows/applications and go "home" doesn't seem to do anything anymore. I can tell it still works as when the screen is off, pressing the button wakes up the phone, but after that it does nothing.
Anyone know how to fix this? Not sure where it would be in the settings.
Thanks
I had this when I installed a new launcher...the ONLY thing that fixed it for me was to reinstall the rom. I tried wiping everything I could without getting rid of my data...but in the end that is all that I could do. But it did fix the issue. Sorry if you were hoping for something easier...maybe someone else may be able to help you.
I am still using the stock launcher :S
Try with another launcher to see if it works. If it does, go back to the standard launcher to see if it now works.

Fingerprint hardware not available and screen locks itself immediately!

Hi everyone!
I have a OP 2 for more than one and a half years now and never had any issues with it(stayed stock...) until recently. I didnt update the phone to the latest version and was putting it off, and today in the afternoon when I tried to unlock my phone it said the 'Fingerprint hardware is not available' and after unlocking the phone with the pattern, it IMMEDIATELY LOCKS ITSELF BACK !!! after split second it just locks the screen while everything is working like connection, wifi, messages, notifications, etc. but due to this I cannot access anything on the phone, can't go to settings and switch to onscreen nav bar buttons, can't force stop/wipe cache the com.fingerprints.serviceext either, tried restarting it several times, downloaded the update but can't even install it because the phone just locks!:crying: I have no idea what would fix it and I am avoiding a full reset and wipe on the phone(also based on all i have read, dont think it would fix it anyways)
If anyone knows whats the problem or has dealt with it or knows someone who has, please help me out here on how to fix this and what to do. I did not root it or flash custom ROM's on it yet and never had a flip cover or any sort of case so literally don't know why it happened.
Thanks in advance,
Max
Hi
I had the exact same issue with mine, I was on LineageOS and could access the logs so I was able to determine it was an hardware failure.
Went to a repair shop to replace the home button, and Bam it worked again.
If you didn't flash a custom ROM it is likely an hardware issue just like I had.

Strange instances of multiple reboots!

This is really starting to get on my nerves now. Ever since I got my new S10+ from AT&T, it's occasionally done this thing where after I reboot the phone, I unlock it, and it briefly says "starting phone" on the home screen, and then will mysteriously do a quick reset, where it skips the AT&T logo and jingle, and just shows the Samsung splash screen , then takes me back to the lockscreen and it's usually fine after that.
However, Just now I decided to reset my phone, like one should do periodically, and it did the strange double reset after unlocking... Then when I unlocked it, after the "starting phone" message I tried to open a browser, and BAM! Quick reset again! Unlocked, let it start up, tried to open an app, BAM quick reset again after the screen briefly shifted from landscape to portrait mode (even though I was still holding it long ways in landscape position). Its never done this before and I'm getting concerned. It's never randomly reset while using the phone, this only happens right after a reset.
Any ideas? I've already tried wiping partition cache after big updates, doing soft resets. I'm worried that I'm going to have to end up resorting to a factory wipe, as others suggested I do when I was having battery drain issues on the ASD3 firmware, possibly because of restoring everything from a backup of my last phone when I got this one. Because supposedly restoring from backups from AT&T, Google or Samsung has caused all sorts of problems for people. I really don't want go wipe everything and spend hours try to get it all back on here manually if i don't have to.

Dang... So it does appear to be an issue experienced on both Exynos and Snapdragon variants. I wonder if there is or will be a fix for this. I've been asking around and haven't gotten many responses about this problem at all. I'm concerned because it seems to be getting worse than when I first got the phone.
I'm having the exact same problem. Sometimes it goes through quick reset, full reset, a couple more quick, then back to the Verizon logo, then starts up. Opening an app at that point usually does another quick, then full, then everything works. Glad I'm not the only one, but I haven't found any solutions either.

Mine does the same. Unlocked bought directly from Samsung. I don't reboot the phone very often so it doesn't bother me that much.
