[Q] New battery : never to 100% - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Since my Nexus 4 battery life was getting worse, I decided on buy a new battery from EtradeSupply.com
Installation went smoothly.
But since then (about a week now), I was never able to charge the battery to 100%.
When I check the phone after a few hours, it says Fully Charged, but then when I unplug it, it shows 85% or up to 91%
I have tried charging my phone while turning it off, full discharge, I tried re-calibrating the battery, but nothing works.
Any idea what is happening?
I am running KitKat, with CM by the way.

Are you sure that is an original battery? I bought a new one on ebay and it has a lot of problems. after i bought it on lgspares.com and it is good.

I got this one : http://www.etradesupply.com/oem-lg-nexus-4-e960-battery.html
It's supposed to be OEM LG legit.

try to reset battery stats with this
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration&hl=en
i had similar problems in my previous phone when installed a custom rom. this helped me.

Turns out the battery was defective (or fake).
It died completely a few days ago, and couldn't turn on the phone anymore.
I ordered another battery from another website, and the new one is working perfectly (charges to 100%)
So my advice : avoid http://www.etradesupply.com/ !

CM10 Battery life of 48 hours...

I've seen lots of posts on the various ROM an Kernel threads talking about the lower battery life people are experiencing.
I'm sharing my battery experience. Obviously with the i9000 getting older the same is true of the battery. Mine is 30 month old, and the battery life had really fallen off.
A li-ion can't be expected to last for 30 months of daily or twice daily charging. My drop in life was slow and progressive until it reached a cliff-edge where it was charging to '100%' in about an hour and lasting maybe 4 hours if I was lucky.
So I brought a new official Samsung battery. I won't tell a long story, but my advice is to avoid any Samsung branded i9000 battery - it is probably a fake. I purchase one from eBay - fake. One from. High-street store (in packaging) - fake, and another from a large eBay seller who specifically advertised it as genuine - fake.
They worked, but none had a true capacity of more then 1000mah and none lasted more then a few weeks. See pictures.
In the end I purchased a Anker 1800mah battery from Amazon. First clue it's good is that it's heavy! Now getting 48hrs from cm10.

I recently bought a supposedly original new oem 1650mAh battery (i9001 model), but have my doubts about its specs and it really being original Samsung. So thanks for the advice, sooner or later I will definitely try this Anker battery.
Think this might be worth investing. Thanks for tip!
thank you
New battery
I tried different ROM's and they kept on beeing more and more bad ... (concerning the battery status)
Then I bought a new battery - and suddensy the ROM where better
If ROM is bad -> BUY NEW BATTERY!
Thank for you tip,I think my bat also old already~

[Q] strange battery drain: fast to 1% and like that forever!

Hello!
I bought a new battery (original motorola) from amazon a few weeks ago and it drains in a strange way... it goes down from 100% to 1% in like 3 hours and then stays at 1% for 3 more hours... does anybody know the reason of this?
I already wiped battery stats (manually from recovery and with battery calibrator)... at the beginning i thought it was a matter of time, that the battery would have worked after a few complete cycles of charge but it didn't go that way!
thank you all!
Here goes a screenshot of my battery status... and i'm still using the phone at 1%...

I had the same problem with my phone when I got it and I tried everything with battery calibration and such.
In the end it was a mix of several problems:
1st my battery was crap. I tested all the batteries I could find on ebay from any company and I didnt have the 1% issue in the end anymore but the voltage was crap.
I got an original hf5x battery in the end, no drops and everything is fine.
Also try this:
Get Battery Monitor Widget Pro-->Calibration-->set the output voltage of the charger and read the data what the battery tells you.
The cheap ones say 1150 or so, my hf5x told my 1700.
Then charge-->uncharge-->... and battery monitor widget pro is dormant and calculates the real voltage of the battery. Then click on "Update mAh" and set it to the setting the app tells you to.
Thats your real voltage, no 1% issue in the end anymore.
Most possible that your battery is a fake which hasn't the required capacities. Is often happen with after-market batteries.
Thank you very much dude! Could this fix the "drops" problem of the original battery too?
I bought this one because the original one had 20% drops...

[Q] Broken Nexus 4 or what?

Dear all,
I got my N4 since 2 weeks and it worked very well for many days: I used stock 4.2.1, unlocked bootloader and rooted, then updated to 4.2.2. Few days ago I noted a very strange behavior: the battery discharge very fast even without any use. I spent many days debugging the behaviour of the phone also using Better Battery Stats. The result: during standby about 95% of the time in deep-sleep but the battery went down to the rate of about 20%/hour. Then I decided to make a factory reset of everything: I've tried with 4.2.2 but also with 4.2.1.
Nothing: restored every part of the rom (using the official occam image) except to lock again the bootloader, factory reset from the stock recovery and booted. No SIM inside and airplain mode: discharge in 4-5 hours without even touch it...
It looks too strange for me (I used other Android phones in the past): I'm starting to think that something got broken in my Nexus 4. Maybe the battery or something in the hardware that discharge the battery.
What do you think about my case? Any attempt before I contact LG for the RMA procedure?
Many thanks.
I would flash a custom rom and a custom kernel, Project Butter uses a lot of power to have everything as fast as possible. You can have the same/better speed with a custom rom without sacrificing much battery + customization.

I doesn't look a question of "non optimized use": they behaviour is very strange. A full battery (100%) goes to ZERO in about 5 hours without touching the phone, with stock image/recovery/radio/bootloader, without SIM, in airplain mode and after a fresh factory reset.
HELP: I bought it in Germany (Media Markt) and I live in Italy. I'm starting to cry just thinking how to proceed to the RMA...

Contact MM in Germany.
If they can't help you out contact LG Germany directly. They might help you out.

Can I be sure that this is an hardware problem? I did the same test yesterday night using a cm10.1 build. Same result. :'(

I have a solution
Buy a good cover for the phone, and just slap the sim directly to the phone without using the tray. This works for me.

^^wrong thread lol
anyway you might want to try opening the back and disconnecting the battery, give the connector a blow or whatever and giving it another try... from previous posts i have read it seems you can do this without disturbing any warranty stickers.

Lineage OS vs Resurrection Remix

Hi all! I'm currently running lineage OS 14.1.2 on my opt and I'm not really happy with the battery life! I haven't really calculated how much so I get, but my battery gets drained before the sun sets! I use it frequently, but only for light apps. Like checking notifications from time to time and a little bit of texting. I keep location off, Bluetooth on (I have a mi band 2, which does not remain connected to the phone. The band app only connects to the band when I get a notification and sends the info) and I keep my WiFi on (I forget sometimes). I keep the brightness pretty low too. I noticed that the battery drains much faster with location on (expected I guess) and also with lte. The reason I'm complaining about the battery life is because I was using a redmi note 4 (with a 4100 mah battery) before this and I used to get more than a day of usage (literally). Now, obviously 800 mah can't make a phone last twice as longer as the opt, so I thought that it's software related and I heard that RR Rom gives better battery life! (Plus the stock camera doesn't work on lineage OS) any help from you guys would be appreciated!! ?
Two last updates doesn't work wery well. I have many freeze and battery go down in little time.
