Just got my EVO replaced with what i was told a new one since within 30 days, i told the girl to let me first check to see if its refurbished but she insisted to activate it first since it is new. Well i go outside and ##768# and it is not refurbished but was activated one month ago, has 210 minutes and 87 calls with 700mg of data used, also a screen protector. I go back and the manager still telling me that its new but they just tested it. Once i told him it had a screen protector he admitted that the phone has been there for a month sort of for testing.
Can someone please tell me what did i get? Is this the floor model or someone else's phone? Not that many calls 87 but still not 0.
Seems like a floor model.

Thats what i thought but i don't remember seeing screen protectors on floor models and can you make calls from them? Also it was activated on 6/30, one month after they came out.
maybe it was a 30 day return that didn't have anything wrong the phone..possibly from someone who worked at that store....who really knows....I would have passed on it though because they lied to you and said it was new and obviously it is not. But that's me, would be different if they were honest and gave you an option of waiting for 1 to come in or take this previously activated 1 now.
omg I would be livid. They gave you a used phone whether it was on their sales floor or someone else's pocket. If I were you I would make it clear to them you are not stupid enough to fall for their lie.
I hit ##786# on my replacement as the guy was doing some stuff on the computer before he activated it. I told him "oh cool, this is a new unit" and showed him the menu. He **** bricks for a second and said something about how he could get in trouble if someone saw the phone in that menu before its activated.. pfft, whatever dood
yea i would take it back and demand they give you a NEW phone. That clearly is a used phone.

I was just coming to post this.
I may buy one or two just to root and mess around with.
Worth a shot anyways.
It seems a deal! Better than the one I brought from craigslist, paid $100 without sdcard and headset.
BTW, I don't have to activate it, right?
I'm thinking about getting one. I dropped my Hero last week and scratched it up pretty badly (I was going to swap housing, but I don't want to bother with that). I'd use the refurb as my daily, with my other Hero as a testing device

I just ordered one. I had the option to have it pre-activated but I chose not to do that. I'm trying to get my husband on the Android bandwagon and this was a cheap way to do it. (He's currently in our family plan with a BB but wants to jump ship to ATT and Iphone. ugh, I know right?) If he hates it, I have a backup Hero and I did not have to extend my contract.
ordering mine tomorrow, went from a htc vogue with android hacked on to it, to a blackberry curve and now to an htc hero till my upgrade kicks in, never again shall i upgrade to a blackberry....piece of crap
looks like they must have sold out of the refurb heroes... :/
sadly wasn't able to order my phone that night due to mail holiday keeping me from getting my debit card on time but called sprint and was told they would have them back in stock on thursday

They're currently out of stock, but according to the post above you, Sprint should have them back in stock by tomorrow.

i emailed their customer support and im waiting for respond, ill keep you guys updated
I looked yesterday and today and could not find any Refurb'ed Heros, there were some others. Wish I had seen this earlier, would have been nice to get one for my daughter.
yeah i checked into it again, won't have any for a while :/ i suggest you look into ebay if you want to try, alot of reliable sellers.
Keep looking... it's definitely worth doing.
Mine came in a Sprint OEM "Certified Pre-owned" box, packaged as if it were new. The only thing missing was an SD card (heck, it would be just 2Gb which is worthless anyhow) and a printed full manual. The phone looks brand new, except for one minor flaw--a tiny dent on the speaker grille. Otherwise, you wouldn't know this was refurbished.
The battery is in a small plastic bag with a sticker closure. It was not charged, so the phone required the full charging time to get going.
i found some from ebay that were bought up from sprint by bestbuy.
I just looked on eBay for a private party selling a Hero. I hate buying from the jerks too lazy to post real pictures of the product. I'm not buying a new phone, so why would I ever buy anything without being able see exactly what I'm really getting?
Anyhoots I won an auction for one the guy says is 4 months old for $133. Just watched for auction ending in a few minutes that fit what I wanted, placed my bid, 10 minutes later I had won.
Not refurbished, and more than $79, but I'm sure my daughter will love it.
Nice job, sadly my paypal account is locked because i forgot about it and never put in my information, i went looking for people selling and accepting non paypal purchases, i ends tomorrow so hopefully i win, it's refurbished.
Here you go guys,

should be about 11 up, most are bids but 2 of em can be bought directly and shipped out.
So I found a person on Craigslist who had a Droid 2 for sale, good deal. So I met up with him, checked out the phone, everything looked good. I called Verizon before making the exchange for the phone and verified the ESN was clear. I get home and try to activate the phone and can't. I called Verizon back and this time I'm being told the phone is still allocated to an account but not active, probably someone who didn't pay a bill would be my guess. It's still early and I haven't tried contacting the person I purchased it from, but providing that falls through what are my options? Or are there any?
I've had verizon for almost 12 years now, can't say I've had the best experience but this just takes the prize. First guy says yes, second person says no, I'm probably out money. ><
Be careful. It could either be stolen or his and he could be filing a claim that the phone was stolen so document everything from the transaction to ensure you don't end up in the wrong. I'm not sure if anything can be done if you have a linked but not active ESN.

Yea I kinda figure that I'm out some cash and got a nifty paperweight now. I'm calling VZW to raise hell since one person told me it was clean, and the other told me the truth about it. Nothing will probably come of it, but at least I get to ***** at them for it. I did manage to get the guy I bought it from to tell me earlier today that it was on his wifes account and that she needed the money from getting rid of the phone to buy another and have it activated. Of course he hasn't returned any of my follow up calls asking when this is going to happen. Unfortunately this isn't someone I know, but do feel like giving him the ass beating of his lifetime.
Oh well, I should have tried to activate it myself on the spot so I guess you live you learn.
By the way, I've got this new thing called an Android Paperweight that runs OS 2.2 if you're interested in buying it let me know (j/k)

Honestly, if it ends up being a bad ESN and you aren't ever able to activate it you could probably sell it to a developer to recuperate some of the cost. You probably wont get it all but I'm sure you could get a nice chunk back.

I wouldn't even know where to start, but good suggestion, thanks.
I called VZW a few minutes ago to complain and found out that the person I spoke with last night didn't log anything in our account indicating a call and regarding what. The person I spoke with earlier today did. I just wish everyone knew how to do their job properly to make sure everyone in my situation ends up with the best possible results, and not out some money that could be used elsewhere.
So if life I guess

At risk of being ridiculed over what I paid for the said item I'll take offers via PM For the time being I'm still holding out on the dream it will one day soon be functional.
put it on ebay you can still get a couple hundred bucks out of a droid 2 with a bad esn
Good luck man, I hope it will be activated soon!

First things first, never buy a CL phone unless you activate it on the SPOT. Regardless if the 'account is late on payment' or whatever that doesn't mean they can blacklist the phone from activating on the network.
If it is a insurance claim phone it can never be used and you are SOL, but if it's stolen I'd call Verizon again and have them contact whoever owns that phone to call you. You seem like an intelligent person, not some kid posting on here, and having VZW for 12 years confirms that. Do the right thing and contact the owner should it be stolen. Maybe work something out?
You could always use it with a different carrier or sell it to someone who wants to use it on a different carrier..
They flash over to cricket easily, probly to sprint or u.s. cellular also
Doesnt matter what the esn says in verizons system when going somewhere else
If you complain enough they will *SOMETIMES* allow you to swap it for a replacement with a clean ESN, though not always. You could also try going into a store and telling them you got ripped off and seeing if they have a carrier return laying that they might be willing to replace your bad one with, Verizon themselves doesn't care about blacklisted ESN's once they have them, they just simply remove it from the blacklist and sell it off
Streak 7 bad ESN
May be an stupid coment, but just by curiosity: when you change the ROM for some custom ROM , the STK7 is not by default unlocked?.
Mr. Cell Phone Unlocker
If you are willing to pay $75, I stumbled across this site that will do it.
Reputable company, but I make no guarantees of their effectiveness. Never tried it either.
Might be worth a shot

Sorry if this has been talked about, I'm just wondering what a good asking
price would be for a new G2. I received an extra one from t-mobile, long
story!
Was going to use it as a back up but the one I have is fine and I don't want
to let it just sit.
Also, the best place to sell it? I've never done e-bay. Maybe craigs list?
Just looking for options.
Thanks.
You could sell it here on XDA, and tbh, depends on what your offering, if its mint never opened, maybe $350, if its opened and rooted but never really used, you maybe able to get a bit more.

It's mint, never touched. Only opened the box to take out the charger for a
spare at work. Thing has never even been powered up. Hell, I'll take it out
tonight and root it if it will bring a few extra bucks
I got mine on eBay for $300. Most sellers were selling the new never used ones for around $400.

You can sell them on ebay for $400 all day. Craigslist is better since no fees and cash in hand but probably won't get as much.
So here's my situation:
My sister and her best friend recently jumped on the same plan together (my sister's existing plan) and my sister got her friend the Sensation. However, as it turns out, her friend was more interested in taking my sister's old Mytouch 3G Slide (shocking I know). Anyway, my sister and I are now trading--my MT4G for her unused Sensation.
Now, can I call T-Mo and let them know I now have a Sensation so that I can get the proper insurance? I would assume since my sister paid for the phone she's free to do what she wants with it, but I thought maybe there was a stipulation to selling the phone shortly after buying it with a new line. I figure I'll have to give the IMEI number or SN when I let them know I've got a Sensation now and I don't want to get her in trouble, if I could just cancel my Asurion insurance and go with SquareTrade or something.
Thoughts? I'm a worried for nothing? Thanks!
Edit: I meant to post this in the Sensation forum, but I guess it works either way.
call them and ask them. It's as simple as that.
He is right. Just give them a call. I don't think it's going to make a difference where you got the phone. Just tell them you have the Sensation and you want to add the warranty protection plan to your account. It's like $5.00 a month and they honor it pretty well. I'm on my 3rd 4g. Let us know what they say.
Insurance follows your line, not what phone u have. As long as its a tmo phone, u r fine to just swap it and still be covered.
Sent from my Dell Streak 7
Speaking from experience in a similar situation, I'm pretty sure you can just call them up and add an insurance policy for $6/mo even though you didn't buy the device directly from them.
