Do Ya'll think that $130 is a good price for a brand new Impulse 4g to use on straight talks byod program? And i've searched and searched and cant find much on the support side for this phone is there any promise for the future?
Price is nice, but you don't have any custom roms. If I remember correctly, u8800 roms don't work on it. Also, there is very little support from huawei.
Well i went ahead and ordered it i've seen a few people having successfully flashed a custom rom onto it or atleast got it up to gingerbread so there may be some hope yet
Good luck If you get some roms running on it, write a topic to general discussion, and if you have questions, put them to this section.
Will do and thank ya for the reply
Just wonder what you guys think....Do you think it's necessary to have a forum dedicated to the US version of this phone since the roms for the international version won't be compatible with it?
I think it would help since there won't be any confusion as to what version a particular rom/kernel/mod is for...I think it would also help as far as troubleshooting is concerned too.
What do you think?
Sounds practical to me

I agree, there Is no point in cluttering this forum with a different device. Its a completely different beast.

So many newbs will be flashing quad core ROM's on their dual core phones, and vice versa.
It's going to be a real mess for awhile. And likely a lot of total bricked phones as a result.
This will happen, perhaps we could wait untill US versions are ACTUALLY available?
It will be broken down into VZW, Sprint , ATT and TMO..maybe under one thread, maybe completely seperate....
While sharing the same build, they will have different model #'s...as has been the case with just about EVERY phone ever released...
Chill out guys..GNEX started on Verizon...now they have a GSM/Verizon/Sprint sub thread...
Did you really think a dev would post a US rom into a I-9300 thread without clearly stating it's for said device?
They need to separate all of the variations......Korea, Japan, etc. This forum is already becoming cluttered
Sent from my GT-I9300
Closed as this has been answered before, at the very least the USA S4 versions will get their own dev sections, but the exact layout is still under discussion.
Yeah yeah, I know Im breaking the "Only post dev threads in the Dev section" but this is where this needs to be for a day or so...
Currently, we Mods are throwing around the idea of possibly merging the AT&T/T-Mobile forums with the HTC One. Hardware speaking, they are the same phone (minus the fact that the developer edition has a few more frequency bands). Software-wise though, I need to hear from all the Developers if there is anything different that needs to be enabled or done to get an AT&T/T-Mobile phone to run an international rom and have EVERYTHING work perfectly (i.e LTE).
Ive spoken to a few of you, but I want to hear from all the Developers. Do you think its a good idea to have all three forums merged into one... and can all phones run on the same roms and have everything work 100% and not leave out anything? This is a crucial piece of the puzzle to figuring out if we should proceed or not.
Ive also thrown up a vote just for the fun of it.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to chime in with your thoughts/opinions on the matter.
My vote goes for "yes".
Actually, lets use the new system...

For some reason the mention system didn't alert me, but I saw the thread
I say merge them. People keep asking over and over whether things are compatible with att and t-mo.
As an ATT user, I recommended mods should move ATT development & original development to HTC One as sub-forums, the rest like general + Q&A section can be merge with. There are not any many dev's in ATT development, it's boring .
@ to person click no to make separate is a SGS4 user lol, im just kidding around.
Have no problems with merging them, vote is "yes"
I'm not a dev but I still support this idea. It will make things much either rather than having people ask if certain things will be compatible and it will also save relaying the information to 3 different forums.
What about the Sprint variant? Is that too different so it needs to stay separated?

Maybe keep the general forums separate and merge everything else. So one forum with 7 subforums.

Sprint is CDMA, so it MUST stay seperate.

Sprint (and Verizon if they ever get it) will stay separate due to it being CDMA and the phones not being 100% identical hardware-wise.
Not a developer but I say merge them all into one, becomes far easier to find, search and relay information. saves having to duplicate everything and things will get more attention

I definitely vote yes i dont like creating/maintaining more OPs than i have to...
Yep i think merging will be the best option
If they are merged, which I am a proponent of, it would be beneficial to have a sticky kept up-to-date which lists all the compatible carriers for this section with any carrier specific FAQ for developers.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2
I say merge 'em, but there are a few network related software tweaks in AT&T based ROMs, so AT&T users should probably be made aware of the different behavior they might notice when flashing ROMs not based on AT&T firmware. A sticky should do the job. Can't speak for the T-Mo version.
Yes...merge them, I'm using tmous phone with an international Rom and it works great.

Really? I didnt know there were any software related tweaks. Care to elaborate on what these are? It may be beneficial for us to know what these are. Thanks.
Very minimal tweaks on things like mms size, signal bar inflation, etc. That torxx and mike1986 have incorporated into their installers. Not 100% necessary but makes things nice.

Could it be possible to create a section for Developer Devices. I had an S4 Developer Edition and now an S5 Developer Edition and it can be very confusing when methods for root, flashing roms etc start to flow for the Note 4. For Dev Edition owners, flashing a retail version of something can be disastrous and much of what works for the Dev Edition will not work for the retail version. I know of at least 6 Dev Owners that locked their bootloaders because they misunderstood instructions and locked their bootloaders. If we could keep things separate it might help many users, retail and Dev owners, from doing something that winds up bricking their phone. Just a thought for consideration. Thanks.
I Agree

+1. Dev Edition is on the way. Locking the bootloader would make me sad.
I contacted a Mod Kenny about this, I'm not sure if he didn't understand but he kept saying he created a forum in General. I 100% agree I really think we need a focused area for Dev Edition only to help people new old understand there are 2 versions of the Verizon phone and though they are on the same network they are different phones! Try messaging Kenny or other mods, this is a must!

I think this is for true, no kidding developers which most of us are not. Not sure we would be allowed to post non-developer type questions and information in this section. Besides, from past experience, true developers talk in a language that only they understand, LOL.

It would be so helpful to have something like
**Verizon Note 4 Developer Thread - Model: SM-N910VMKEVZW**
Developer General - Talk away
Rooting / Recovery Information How To's, Etc. - Instructions whats going on, future root etc etc.
Roms - Developer 1
Roms - Developer 2
Roms - Developer 3 Etc.
This would keep all the Developer Edition Content contained so Regular Note 4 users aka noobs don't get confused and this and that.. and at the same note we as the Developer Edition community could keep our goals, questions, ideas, and developments focused.

I happened to stop in here looking for the stock build to get started on a kernel, and I figured I would throw down my $0.02
If the chatter in the T-Mobile section is any indication, a lot of first-time owners are buying the developer edition because they saw it listed on Android Police or some other Android news site and want to avoid having to unlock the bootloader and such to install custom builds. Creating a developer edition section is only going to end up leading to these "noobs" with developer edition phones trying to figure out which versions of things they should install.
If you are just looking for a section restricted to actual developers, there is http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/galaxy-note-4-developer-discussion-developers-only

In case you were curious, that is called "proper English" and it's the one language school don't appear to be teaching anymore. I think it was part of a budget cut to get more books for "Ebonics"

I'm all set up to expand. All I need to port the kernel is a stock boot.img
Dev Edition definitely needs to be completely seperate from the regular device posts. Too much of the content is mixed, thereby making this section look unorganized. There may be a "Developers Section Only"; but not all related posts are posted here. This would include general and troubleshooting posts. Make the change moderator!
I've gotten to the point to pick out my rom for the ATT I337 NI1 . So, I'm curious the recommended roms to go for?
My goal is to bring some more life to this phone. It's been sluggish lately. So, I'm hoping whatever I go for has decent features and all around performance in comparison to the bloated crap.
