I was running X Note on 4.3 and decided to upgrade to xnote 8 . I downloaded the official polish 4.4 firmware and followed the instructions and every thing seemed fine, I lost my TWRP recovery so i decided to reinstall my custom recovery. But now i have done that my phone is stuck in a boot loop. What have i done wrong?
I have tried the chain fire method and the Goomanager method but none are working?
My phone is up and running on stock 4.4.2 but i cant install any custom recoverys. What can i do?
Probably using the wrong version of custom recovery. Grab the latest CWM by chenglu (.06 ) or the newest TWRP and you should be OK
I have tried both of the latest Cwm and TWRP and even cf auto but it still won't root my phone

Hi mate
I flashed the the KK firmware from sammobile with the update boot loader ticked. Booted back into the stock rom fine but what ever method i use to flash a custom recovery just fails. When i tried the Goomanager method my phone boot loops and i have to re flash the phone again. I have tried both the latest versions of TWRP and CWM. Never had any problems like this before. When i 1st got the phone i did the chain fire method which takes less than 30 seconds but this also doesn't work know.
I took the phone back to carphone warehouse this morning and they have sent it off for repair. Hopefully ill get a note 3 back running 4.3 and ill wait for the official firmware:good:

Hey People,
i previously rooted my phone on stock firmware along with changing the kernel. I have no restored and removed root back to stock but i get this message when doing a OTA update as i need the latest update to enable 4G on my phone. It says Your device has been modified. Software updates are not available. How do i go about fixing this? I have done some research and used the triangle app to reset the flash counter which now says Official rather then Custom In download mode? If i flash the firmware does it automatically Re flash my Kernel or is that separate? I have looked for the stock i9505 kernel i Just cant seem to find it.
Will appreciate the help
Thanks

flash stock firmware, stock kernel included
It's normal that it says that. Just install Xposed framework, then Wanam Xposed, there is an option to fake the system status as official and thus you'll be able to update firmware OTA.

Thank you for your answer, but unfortunately I can't use Kies since I use Linux and there is no Kies for Linux. May be another solution like adb?

Thank you!
I wiped the data, without success, then I flashed everything again with Heindall 1.4.0, then wiped everything again. Now I have official status and should receive OTA updates.
Edit: but after rooting the official status is lost. Now I think this may be normal.
I've always used Teamepic root and then flashed my rom, that didn't work with the S4, at least for me.... I couldn't get into recovery.
So I tried many other ways, every way I have found on the internet and if it's not one thing it's another. SSU will either say binary not available or when I am installing from recovery (cfroot) it says install aborted. I've flashed to the stock rom so many times since yesterday I'm about to go nuts, but nothing will get this phone rooted, please help!

If you have Kitkat on the device (tried flashing) then you need the Kitkat TWRP - hence the BL - You cannot go back to 4.3 if you've attempted to flash KK

Why not flash a normal ROM?
By that I mean, a ROM which is not touched by any service provider.
People have been reporting Fails while flashing carrier roms through ODIN... It generally seems to fail on the "Hidden" partition....
so i have an s4 that had 4.3...well it has an unlocked bootloader and recently i lost the stock recovery and no custom recovery was on there. so did the 4.4 ota update like a genius and now the phone is stuck in odin download mode. cant get it to boot cant get anywhere. im in the process of downloading the stock 4.4 firmware and i downloaded a custom rom and custom recovery. i didnt know where to go from here. would it be ok to flash the stock firmware with odin? or could i just try a custom recovery and custom rom in odin?? looking for some serious help. thanks in advanced
Do you have an i337, because if you do the bootloader is not unlocked. You're going to have to flash the stock firmware in Odin

You're screwing up because you haven't read about the things you are trying to do. If you want to learn and do things correctly, I suggest reading the pinned threads in the general and q&a sections paying close attention to the information that is specifically about your model and firmware version. The things you are trying to do and the questions you are asking have been answered many times over in those threads.

You need to flash full nb1 to regain stock.
Once you are in nb1 you can choose to stay stock or downgrade to mk2 to root and install safestrap.
From there you can install any Tw rom not AOSP YOU CAN NOT FLASH CUSTOM ROMS.

Recently I used odin to flash Russian marshmallow on my note 4 SM-N910C. I also flashed TWRP successfully.
I tried the usual rooting method with cf-autoroot but I got into bootloops. also I tried flashing the spacex kernel but the device didn't start up at all.
Now that I tried everything I know, is there any method to root it?
I had to go back to 5.1.1 and wait for rooting method for 6.0.1.
Any help will be appreciated.
Flash the SuperSU zip from TWRP? Do that.

Flash (for Root) this SuperUser zip via TWRP 3.0+ for stock MM 6.0.1 (N910C)..
ChainFire (the Dev. for Root) requests to link to his files, but cannot, for the life of me, find where I downloaded it from, so here is my personal copy..please donate to ChainFire if you can, for all his hard efforts..

Yes that's it. I have a strange issue though. If i flash MM manuall from the poland version......i can get that twrp to work.....if i take the OTA to MM from the poland Lollipop..... Then that twrp wont work......the reason this is an issue is because the OTA MM is faster and more fluid on my device than the odin tar......why idk. This is a strange case lol.

CF (N910c) did work for me, but after few days mysteriously stopped working. No SU binary could be found and therefore no root . Then i decided to root again but unsuccessfully. CF does what is supposed to do and after a phone reboots no root, so i tried this way and it worked: Flashed TWRP tar from odin, than flashed superSU zip from twrp. phone rebooted 2-3 times (this is normal) then when it booted, still did not work until i rebooted it once more manually and screen "android is upgrading" appeared for a few sec. After that everything works as is supposed to.
I have found this video on YouTube (Spanish but it contains download links in video description) and detailed explanation how to do it.

Yes i tried this first http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2897428
and it worked. After few days root acess somehow dissapeared. And i was not able to root again using cf root. I flash cf root, phone reboots, flash su binaries and reboots again. When it boots up again no root access. (Stock Android 6.0.1) Then i tried method i mentioned in a previous post and it worked.
