Hi I keep hearing people complaining about their battery draining, but I found turning off and on some features does infact stop the battery from draining too much, but this only works with the latest 4.4.2 update because I noticed that Power saving mode was not working on 4.3. You should set your setting like this:
The final step is to set you screen brightness to 25% (Brightness level by Curvefish) and turn off your wifi.

Hi, is using daydream a good idea?
I would let it run about 7 hours each night, do you think this would affect the screen lifetime by a noticeable amount?

Well if you aren't using the phone, I can't imagine why you'd want the screen on for 7 hours. Eventually your screen will fail, might take years and years, but leaving it on an excessive amount will certainly shorten it's lifespan.
If you just want a clock for when you wake up, I'd recommend just turning off Daydream since it only takes a second to turn the screen on. Daydream certainly isn't enough of a time saver to compromise your display's life.
I was always using my Palm Pres as night/alarm clock on the touchstone charger without issues. Did the same with my GNex and its docking station and plan to do the same with my N4 and wireless charger.

If it takes years it doesn't matter, I will switch to the next nexus when it's out anyways, so I won't use this phone much longer than a year. It's not about the clock, it just looks really nice (using beautiful widget) and when waking up, or just in the evening it would be a nice feature.

Hello folks,
I'm facing a battery drain problem when the Tablet is idle. In the last week i managed to get >11h Screen on Time and awesome idle battery stats. But now my battery drains even if the device is in Deepsleep with Wlan on and Synch on (>97%) about 1-2% per hour. [With Gnow off, Bluetooth / GPS / NFC off). The curios thing is, it happens with all Roms I tested so far, when I'm replacing the stock kernel of the rom with the ktmanta Kernel.
Can you guys give me an advice ? If there were wakelocks which wake the Device i would know what to do, but with Deepsleep > 97% ? The only Wakelocks are gmail and google account synch.
I would be thankful for every Hint.
Best regards

This most likely and issue with the kernel. If your kernel supports underclocking you should consider doing that because underclocking uses less battery. With all that stuff off and ONLY wifi on, during sleep you should not lose more than a percent every couple of hours. I have kept mine stock but im well aware that most battery issues are relating the kernel. I have a nexus 4 and Gnex before that both rooted and used to run AOKP before but not CM 10.1. So I have seen enough battery issues to kno that this completely because of the kernel.
AW: Battery drain even in deep sleep
Okay, I'm aware that it has something to do with the custom kernel. But the weird thing is, that all was good and then suddenly after 3-4 cycles my N10 started to lose battery in Deepsleep. There wasn't any change in the rom / kernel or settings. If tried several Roms / kernels but only get rid of it, when I stick to cm stock kernel.
Atm I'm on the actual ktmanta underclocked @ 200-1400mhz + undervolted

If it is happening with every custom rom you have tried so far then maybe it is time you try a new kernel. Also, this might not be it but just to be on the safe side, check what apps you have running in the background. Might help.
I just bought an unlocked Samsung Galaxy S5. It's pretty nice and all except the battery life is terrible. I tired to do it by turning things off, but then I was just left with a boring that can't even do anything. What's the point of all it's cools stuff if you have to turn it all off just to keep it alive? I heard that after rooting a phone one can download custom ROMS to improve Battery life. My problem is I don't have a single clue on how to use them. I've tried Omega, Waman, Alliance, Cyanogen and others but I don't know how to use any of them for battery life.
Is there some sort of tutorial for using them? Or anything at all that could point me in the right direction? I'm so confused I think I'd rather just buy and extended battery.
How long does your battery last? Maybe your expectations are unrealistic
I recommend you to flash an AOSP based ROM and install Greenify. Maybe you should also flash a custom kernel for tweaking your CPU.
Furthermore you could buy a new battery

Ok, but what does all that do an how do I use them?
For the first time in years with being with a Xperia Z phone, I have run out of battery before the day was over.
I'm getting between 2.5 to 3.5 SOT, and yesterday it just wasn't enough. With the Z3 (no plus) I got 4 to 5, sometimes even 6 (though I never quite knew why it would differ so much with similar use).
Sony needs to sort this out, and fast, or the Z5 will not be for me (I've been with the Z series since day 1). Oh, and yes, I'd still be on the Z3 had I not dropped it once too many.
This is a Google issue. See battery thread.

Then you're doing something wrong. I easily get a SoT of 4 hours and sometimes 6 to 7 hours.
Install the RAM cleaner
I faced this issue before. When I look deep into the process and so on, I found that the "wechat" and "facebook" is consuming a big piece of the resources. So, I deleted it and the battery life seems like last a bit longer than usual.

Facebook definitely is having problems here too, sometimes it bursts up in battery usage and has around 20% when the day is finished which is unacceptable
I suggest you to use Snapdragon battery guru to control how much background apps connect to the internet.. So you can control facebook and others...

I just started University again after a summerbreak so its been lots of 3g/4g and one sentence sums everything up.
The mobile radio bug is the worst thing in Lollipop without any question. Its just horrible how Google has handled this.
Its not acceptable for Facebook and Chrome to eat up 50% combined out of all the battery drain

My device is severely bugged by a battery drain. Android-System is using almost as much battery as my screen.
Disabled Google Backup, deleted cache and dalvik, deleted Google Play Services Data it just keeps eating my battery.
Amy suggestions?

This is a bug on 7.x.x, I know a few who have the new update somewhat fixing it. But it is just a bug on Nougat, some ROMs fix it to a point. But if you want to get rid of the bug, you will have to go back to 6.x.x until it's restored, unless there is a 3rd-party patch I don't know of out there.
Thanks, didn't have it with dp2, funny stuff. Which roms do fix it partially? @TnT_

But try clean install tho
I also have issues with Android System and Kernel drain.
Tried with fresh installs of stock 7.1.1 and the latest PN. Tried with stock and custom kernels but is does not help.
My SOT is pretty good but I loose almost 2%/h during the night in standby. If I turn on airplane mode is decreases to 0.2-0.3%/h but I barely have any apps installed and they use almost no data.
Turned Wifi scanning etc. off but it doesn't help.

Did you try battery calibration
Tried calibrating my battery. Not solving my issue. And it's getting worse imho.

Wow it's probably a software bug or I hope not a battery issue
There's a free app called Disable Service by WangQi on the Play Store. It requires root.
Download/install, and look under System, then Google Play Services, and lastly, Network Location Service.
Uncheck it, reboot the device, and see if that fixes your battery issues.
Some apps do rely on this service for getting your location, and poorly coded apps will crash, but proper apps will usually by default fallback on the GPS signal (if enabled), and get your location the hard way. Apps like Tinder, PlentyofFish and other dating sites that use "Nearby" type match results are notorious for using Network Location Service to get your location because it's fast, and technically falls under the "Internet Permission".
Thanks @Wiltron, already tried that and GPS starts to kick in draining the battery even worse... Problem is I'm on a clean and fresh system. No apps started or granted permission except system apps, Tapatalk and WhatsApp. Location usage constantly shows Google play services as last user, play services is constantly using location.
