Doesn't appear to be no.
And
Nope, unless you are coming via MOP and then it's a whole messy issue to play with.

Do you know which firmware you have on your phone?
If it's 4.3 get it here, 4.4.2 here.

Download the cf-auto root from the link I provided, extract files to a directory of choice, run odin, click pda buuton on odin then select cf-auto root file you just extracted and odin will take care of the rest and your phone will reboot.

Which 4.3? (try *#1234# ) - if you have < MJ3 you can still root with Universal Root De La Vega without triggering knox flag and losing warranty (for now).

If you are on MI7 then certainly go for Universal Root De La Vega (IMHO the safest is to first use for URDLV exactly the same version that you currently have) and then do a lot of reading around here on how you can upgrade with Mobile Odin Pro while keeping root and knox 0x0 :good:
Has anyone in Poland tried to take the OTA update on a de la vega rooted device (SuperSU Root survival) with Wanam saying the OS is stock?
This setup allowed for smaller updates to the radio and the like OTA on a rooted phone. If the system thinks its stock, but you have root what would happen with an OTA update in this situation?
I have a N900T (T-Mobile in the US) and I’m debating waiting for 4.4.2 “final” US version. If I could install it and keep root and Knox 0,0 that would be ideal.
(Educated guesses welcome)
You won't be able to keep root and have Knox 0x0 on kikat. Once you upgrade you will lose root and De Vega dosen't work on anything later than MJ3 or MJ7

Actually you can (on N9005 at least). It is now a 2-step process slightly more complex than just using Mobile Odin Pro, but it works, see here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=49452031#post49452031
(starting from post 365 and about 10-20 posts later you will see the first 2 reports of success).

Hi,
I installed an Samsung Firmupdate this week, my build is N9005XXUENB4.

Just to let you know, note 3 n9005 is otherwise called note 3 LTE, anything with 5 at the end like i9305, i9505, is the LTE variant.
Coming to question of root, that method will work, its called CF-auto root and the latest package can be downloaded from
http://download.chainfire.eu/352/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-hlte-hltexx-smn9005.zip
But this will void your warranty as KNOX counter will get tripped to 0x1.
Having said that anybody who is on 4.4.2(any version), if they were not rooted before, will get KNOX 0x1 (warranty Void), if they try to root.

This should be stickied somewhere, because as someone who is still within the first 24 hours of reading about this device, it is not clear at all.
I just got a Note 3 that is still on 4.3 Jelly Bean, Kies is telling me to update as follows:
Current firmware version : PDA:MJ7 / PHONE:MJ7 / CSC:MJ1 (VIA)
Latest firmware version : PDA:NB4 / PHONE:NB1 / CSC:NB1 (VIA)
I am trying to find out if I can do this safely or not, at the moment my Note 3 is stock out of the box.
If what you write is right, then I should NOT update using Kies now, but root first, if my goal is to keep Knox warranty 0x0.
But how, if chainfires method is also triggering it?
If I had root I could use Mobile Odin and that doesn't trigger Knox?
I have spent several hours reading the subforums for the Note 3 as of now, it's still not clear, I think some more things need to be stickied and updated.
What would the best steps be from MJ7 stock?

Not really, if you are looking up ways to root without tripping Knox then you generally stumble across the URDLV thread and it has this in BIG RED letters across the top... URDLV was a sticky in Original Developement forum...
AFAIK the only way to root 4.4.2 is to downgrade it to 4.3 before MJ4 then root it using URDLV method. Here's a site on how this can be done.
http://www.thebitbag.com/root-your-...ut-tripping-samsung-knox-security-suite/73295
Disclaimer : I have not try this method and not responsible if you brick your phone.
As others have posted, there's currently no method to reset the Knox counter once it is tripped. The bounty is still out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52095753#post52095753

You can't go from Kitkat back to Jellybean.

as mentioned by ultramag69,
unfortunately the upgrade of the Android O/S since 4.3 and above is irreversible (one way ticket), due to sammy is keeping on developing its bootloader.
Not only saying 4.3 to 4.4. Even the same version of 4.3 got few bootloader patches, and the same 4.4 also have few bootloader patches. This bootloader things make the upgrade irreversible. Downgrading can cause you to bootloop (soft brick), & KNOX trip.
and there's no KNOX friendly root method for the newer bootloader 4.3 and above. If you need root, you will have to bear with the KNOX trip. If you want to keep the KNOX, don't root, and just use your device as per normal usage.
Cheers.
Hey guys!
I live in Denmark and we all just got KitKat on our Note 3's today.
I currently have this version and I was wondering if updating to KitKat would prevent me to root without losing Knox or if my current version already prevent that?
Hopefully someone can answer my question, thanks!
