Do you know which firmware you have on your phone?
If it's 4.3 get it here, 4.4.2 here.

Download the cf-auto root from the link I provided, extract files to a directory of choice, run odin, click pda buuton on odin then select cf-auto root file you just extracted and odin will take care of the rest and your phone will reboot.

Which 4.3? (try *#1234# ) - if you have < MJ3 you can still root with Universal Root De La Vega without triggering knox flag and losing warranty (for now).

If you are on MI7 then certainly go for Universal Root De La Vega (IMHO the safest is to first use for URDLV exactly the same version that you currently have) and then do a lot of reading around here on how you can upgrade with Mobile Odin Pro while keeping root and knox 0x0 :good:

root de la vega mj7

hello, im a noob to android tinkering although I have been using it for some time. I am interested in rooting my n9005 and planned on using the root de la vega method to avoid tripping knox. Just before I planned on rooting I updated ota and now im running mj7 for which there is no ap or csc number listed on the tutorial thread does this mean if I want root I have to void warranty. Sorry if its a dumb question./SIZE]

@op apparently you did not read (as I didn't myself on my first note 3):
RDLV does not work once you update through ota or stock odin (with bootloader update) afaik, so you might be screwed out of the RDLV method already.

[Q] Best way to root now ?

Hi there,
i will get my note 3 N9005 LTE today from amazon germany. So i was wondering whats the safest and easiest way to root the device without tripping warranty ?
I read many posts (knox, kingo, vega, problems with all of them, ...) , so i think the root de la vega is safe nowadays ?
And how to remove bloatware the easy way ?
Thank you

1. DO NOT LET the phone auto-update or security-update.
2. If it is a N9005 check (with *#1234# ) your AP, CP and CSC
3. If you have AP <= MJ3 then you can very likely root with Universal Root De La Vega (URDLV); you can then update to MJ7 using Mobile Odin Pro (MOP) and keep root and knox 0x0.
Search around for more details on the specific thread on URDLV and URDLV+MOP.

If you don't mind triggering knox then you have more options - CF-auto-root is supposed to be easier but IMHO once you triggered knox you should also install a custom recovery (I would suggest Chenlu's CWM or Philz CWM) so that you can also make a complete backup of your phone to the external microSD.

I can not guarantee that, it seems in the URDLV thread there are 2-3 posters that say that were on MJ3 and applied URDLV to MJ3 ROM and knox was not tripped, but there are other that seem to say they tripped knox from MJ3.

I tripped knox on my note. Mine was MJ3 from O2 UK. But it was beginning of URDLV. Check how people from Germany rooted their phones and did they succeeded. That is best you can do.
I got my phone insured so if there will be something wrong with it I just say it was stolen.
Before rooting check your camera and multi-touch. Some notes have those issues.

Root N9005 [KNOX 0x0 Root]

Hello,
I want to root my device and I want to keep KNOX 0x0.
I know that there is Universal Root de la Vega v0.2 thread that will keep knox 0x0 , The problem is that i don't know which firmware to choose.
There is 3 diffrent country/carrier(Singapore (SingTel). Singapore (StarHub), Singapore), with the same AP/CSC/MODEM.
AP: N9005XXUDML2
CSC: N9005OLBDMK2
MODEM: N9005XXUDMJ7
How i can know which firmware to download and use it on Universal Root de la Vega v0.2?

I have MJ1 rooted with the initial Vega method.
Could I use the new URDLV version 4 to get the latest version of the phones software and keep root?
Is it easy? Do I have to download a stock rom to modify?

It's a Vodacom phone.
Pls help with rooting advice that won't trip knox

Yes you can. 2 ways.
1) Download the whole rom and URDLV it and flash with odin
2) Download the whole rom and flash with mobile odin pro with everroot turned on.
Either way you need to download the full rom first.

as mentioned by ultramag69,
unfortunately the upgrade of the Android O/S since 4.3 and above is irreversible (one way ticket), due to sammy is keeping on developing its bootloader.
Not only saying 4.3 to 4.4. Even the same version of 4.3 got few bootloader patches, and the same 4.4 also have few bootloader patches. This bootloader things make the upgrade irreversible. Downgrading can cause you to bootloop (soft brick), & KNOX trip.
and there's no KNOX friendly root method for the newer bootloader 4.3 and above. If you need root, you will have to bear with the KNOX trip. If you want to keep the KNOX, don't root, and just use your device as per normal usage.
Cheers.
