[Q] Does factory reset damage galaxy Note3? - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, first sorry for my English.
I have two question. Does factory/hard reset (Volume+/Home/Power button) damage galaxy Note3 ( when I do this 10x,50x,100x for Example)? - I ask that because I have tested three times my phone and after that I have hard reset my Note3 and install it clean.
Should I hard reset my Phone if I install the Android version 4.4.2 on my 4.3?
Thank you for the answer.

There is no harm from factory rest did it many times I never had any problem.
If you want to install new ROM is recommended to hard reset your phone but not required.
(someone correct me if I'm mistaken )

No it wont damage no matter how often u reset.
You can do, some people do it, some say dont. In my opinion just flash and if everything works dont wipe, if you have problems do a factory reset
hit 'thanks' if i helped you

Thanks for the Help :good:

This brings me to another question:If you clear your region lock by using it in original country for some time and then factory reset it, would that reactivate region lock? How about Chainfire region unlock, does factory reset breaks that as well? In theory factory reset, erases everything and brings it back to brand new status.

Galaxy S4 Constant Reboots!!!

Hi all, I have had my galaxy s4 I9500 for 4 weeks now and running completely on stock rom I9500UBUAMDK. Only recently I have been having problems with the phone rebooting 3-4 times a day in my pocket! This is getting very frustrating and need an urgent fix! I have already factory reset the phone and there's no warranty as I purchased my phone online and unlocked. If anyone else is having the same problem or could give me advice, please share. Thanks!
There is a known problem , with too many apps open, and when camera is launched, the phone will reboot.

S4 i9500 self shutdown issues

Hey guys , I've already searched the boards for this and there were a few people posting about this issue aswell but they've stopped posting for about a week now...
I am having an i9500 (octa core version) and running United Arab Emirates 2013 June 4.2.2 I9500XXUBMEA I9500OJVBMEA firmware (stock , no root) , frequently when the phone is locked it will shut down on it's own and I have to keep the power button held a bit longer than usual for it to start (like 20 seconds) , I do not want to root it because the company I bought it from is not that...good....so I am very afraid of sending it to their service department , please , any info/suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Hey mate ! Thanks for the reply , I tried reseting to factory settings , wiping cache and flashing other firmwares , different firmwares cause different issues like screen freezes , crashes etc. This one just makes the s4 turn off sometimes while being locked.
It's not from any apps as long as it's nothing stock related ( I do use S Health and the likes )

What is the purpose of installing a firmware and then resetting the device ? I've never reset after I flashed a firmware I think
I have found a way to reproduce this!
It happens MOSTLY when I unplug it from the usb cord and lock it (by pressing the button ) after leaving it locked for 5 minutes 'ish
Any help guys ? please , I don't want to have to send it to the shop where they'll keep it for 2-3 weeks...
EDIT : Also I wanted to ask , did I void my warranty by flashing firmwares for the i9500 from sammobile.com ? (I did no rooting , only stock firmwares)

And don't worry if u have only flashed stock firmware u are safe with warranty

I had the similar issue on my note 2 after installing a MIUI rom which was posted and in that case the moment i click LOCK button it used to get stuck / powerr off
and the issue was later solved by flashing a rescue firmware.. was something related to kernal which caused that issue
Does not matter which firmware u had b4 u can still flash 2 /3 diffrnt firmware which are stock and do reset after flashing u will get rid of this issue for sure
And if that also does not wrk then there myte be a hardware issue i hope thats not the case
I think I need some help , I've sent it to the service and the guy told me the fact that the phone freezes and reboots itself on it's own a few times a day is "normal" lol , what the hell? He said he'll fix the shutdown issue but the freezing+rebooting will have to be with me until newer firmwares get released

I have the same i9500 running the same Emirates firmware and I'm at 90% percent sure that your battery's serial number starts by "BD.." these batteries are swollen and one of the symptoms of having a defective battery is the random reboot loops like the one's you're having. I happen to have a drfective battery on my i9500 baught from the United Emirates however I live in Tunisia and Samsjng refused to replace it for free saying that the warranty isn't international... So can you tell us what did you do?

[Q] Factory Reset with Reactivation Lock on

Guys, I don't really know what can or can't do with reactivation lock on...
1.So, I kinda know that I can't flash any CUSTOM or STOCK ROMs, or even CUSTOM Recoveries, am I correct ?
2. Can I do an wipe via recovery or factory reset on my phone with RL on ?
3. Is there anything more I must know about RL ?
Up... No one ?
And why don't you turn it off when doing so, and then enable it ?

Bro sorry I didn't' make me clear, the point is if anyone steal my phone (expensive, hard working phone) they can flash ROMs or recoveries when RL on? They can wipe the phone?
I wanna know if they can still use my phone or they gonna get a Brick... or even better if I could track the phone, coz they can't wipe so I put an Anti-thief app, block the uninstall of it and got it back.
The perfect answer for me is:
1. Yes, you are...
2. No, you can't
The third one you surprise me with the answer... ehehe
OK, I see. Afaik, you should be secure. That's the point of RL.

Eww, I'm sorry, I don't have any thoughts for that issue... I've not come across this before, so sorry.
Well it could be a software/driver problem. When you do a "BIG"update in android versions a factory reset is recomended. If a factory reset does not do the trick it may be best to flash the rom with odin.
If none of those things work it's probably a hardware defect and you would have to send it for warranty

Certain parts of a firmware is not installed, there's a service code to update remaining part, we need to search in xda.

The weirdest problem ever !!

I just had very weired problem and I need your help !!
My note 3 N9005 just stopped recognizing touches on the screen ! And only respond to S pen !!
I was on magma mx note7 port rom but I don't think it is rom related because even in the TWRP it is the same
Is that a hardware fault? Or There is a hope that it is a software related to modem or firmware?
I flashed RR but still the same issue!
Seeking your experience opinions
Thank you
Usual answer .
Restore to stock firmware first .

Yep. Try restoring do stock, change bootloader too... And also, fix partitions and download an app to test hardware!
My first try would be to flash a bootloader. I think you flashed a broken one or the wrong on! Be sure it really flashed, because sometimes even when Odin says everything went ok, iit may have failed. You have to take off your battery, go into download mode and do it.
In the old days, that happened to Brazilian Galaxy S1 and was related to bootloader!
Keep us updated, friend! Best of luck

Hi mate! Are you using an international sm N9005, right?
You are using an old bootloader. Try this one... I think is the latest: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BwT0le3Vxg5OQ1VmakNkc19Od2c
Btw, have you tried a clean install of a stock Rom and no luck? Have you changed kernel?

Yes , the N9005 version .
I did clean install through odin for the firmware but the problem persist , i will try to update the bootloader through Odin and check , thanks for sharing the file
I don't want to give up because it doesn't make any sense for me , if the touch driver is damaged, how the Spen works like a charm ?!!!

Most likely the digitizer is faulty, get it replaced. As for the S Pen, it has nothing to do with the digitizer as it uses the S Pen sensor film which lies behind the screen AFAIK..

Do you think this could be related to root? I remember when I rooted my Sm-n900w8 on lollipop, after I rooted, the soft keys stopped responding and only S-PEN work, but the touchscreen itself was fine.
But there was a fix, you flash this file which fix the touch key. There is an xda thread on this but I'm not allowed to post links. But what I'm saying is, maybe there is a similar method to repair software?
I am afraid, it is gone.
As far as I know brother, the Galaxy Note series uses two digitizers (combined to one) with different voltages (minor difference, but enough the differentiate finger and S-Pen). One of your digitizer is dead.
You now need to try some weird steps for your weird issue.
First thing you can try is Battery Simulation. To perform battery simulation, press and hold the volume down key and power key for 10-20 seconds. Select power down from the menu you see. Turn your phone after 10 minutes and check if problem persists.
Second thing you can try is, take out all your data (backup), switch off your phone, completely charge it and remove battery. To make sure no static current stays inside the phone, while your battery is out, connect headphones, insert a cable with no charger (I repeat, without charger) on the other end and touch your screen with S-Pen. After you have done all this nonsense, remove cable and headphones, re-insert the S-Pen and battery.
After that, from ODIN, do a "Complete flashing" by selecting "Auto Reboot", "F. Reset Time" and "NAND Erase All".
Most threads do not recommend "NAND Erase" for some reaso. I always do it, and have been doing since 2 years without a problem. Rewards? My Note 3 is still blazing fast, though it involves lot of steps while installation which I do not advice to anyone else.
Summary: You need a screen replacement, but before that, give your last attempt, with "NAND Erase All".
Note: It's better to get the latest firmware for your carrier/country. Google SamMobile.
Sorry if nothing helps.

That sounds like a hardware issue to me. I think what may have happened is the S-PEN detach sensor inside the phone broke or some connecting circuit broke. Either way it doesn't sound like a software issue to me....

Potentially. If it's a hardware issue, watch some YouTube tutorials and then buy the right parts and fix it. If it's a software issue try flashing the latest bootloader/modem/stock rom for your phone and see if it fixes things.
