Quick question about rooting. - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all,
I just ordered an G2 and when it arrives I want to install CM10.2. I have a quick question. When installing a new rom will it delete any backups that I made previously? If so, is there a way for me to store the backup of my stock LG rom/ui on my PC for safe keeping. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can make a nandroid backup which you can store on your phone's SD card or on your computer. This requires a custom recovery, however, thus meaning that you will have backup of a stock, rooted device with custom recovery.
Remember to back up your EFS partition too.
You can download your stock (and unrooted with stock recovery) .kdz here
EDIT: You can install TWRP without root Sorry for misleading informations!

Just replace YOUR IMEI with your actual IMEI

[SOLVED]a quick rom question...

I have rooted and I have twrp installed. I'm planking on installing some cm7 or cm9 ROM. I'm going to backup, wipe and all of that good stuff. My question is, if I flash back to stock, can I recover all of my apps from the backup?
what do you mean with "flash back to stock" ?
hopefully not flashing the original amazon rom !!!
you will loose fff, twrp and root - also some guys bricked it doing this
if you want to flash a stock rom i would recommend one of the prerooted stock roms:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22393194&postcount=20
would backup your current stock rom, so you can restore it like it was including all apps (select the propper tags in twrp - tap all if you'r not shure)
im asking if i go back to stock, can i restore my apps and such. if thats not safely possible, can i transfer my backed up apps to cyanogenmod?
i don't know a way with twrp
for this is titanium backup from the market - you can save and restore apps as you like:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5rZXJhbWlkYXMuVGl0YW5pdW1CYWNrdXAiXQ..
so i cant transfer apps from my current stock to cm?
that's what titanium backup is supposed to do
ohh ok. thanks!!
glad to help ...

[Q] noob questiom

Hello guys,
I am new here and I have a questiom .. right now im using 4.3 firmware on my i9500 .. before i flashed it i made a backup of my 4.2.2 firmware through CWM to my sd card .. I wonder will i be able to restore it? Or this is the same case as downgrading and it may harm my phone?
Note: my phone is rooted and i installed the cwm but i am scared to hit restore on cwm
You woun't damage your phone.
Your phone will be restored to the exactly same state as it was at backup time.
Another question is how to restore your backup correctly
Google for clockwokmode, cwm, NANDroid backup

How do I restore backup without custom recovery

So I flashed the lg g2 kit kat stock and super user so I have root but of course lost custom recovery. I did make a backup on my phone before I did so. I can go to stock recovry and see their is an option for restoring backup but the file is empty. I located the file using root explorer and try to move it to the cache folder where stock recovery is looking for back up but the space allotted is not big enough for my backup file so it will not let me move. So the question is simple can someone point me or shall I say show me how to restore m backup please. Thanks in advance

currently kitkat on the g2(all models) does not support custom recovery so no
You'll have to save your backup on your computer, flash back to jellybean, then root it and install recovery, then you'll be able to restore the backup. Even if you could stuff the thing into cache I don't know if the stock recovery would be capable of flashing it.

[HELP] Screwd up nandroid

Hello guys!
I was updating from 4.4.4 to lollypop via OTA, then I realized that even if I run the stock ROM, I am still unlocked + root, meaning that the OTA won't run.
I did a complete nandroid backup via Wugs Nexus Toolkit, including data.
Then I wiped and flashed the new 5.0 via Nexus Toolkit, but when I tried to restore only the data it didn't work.
I decided to go back to 4.4.4. and do things properly, but now I'm not able to restore anything.
I am not bothered with the apps and stuff, but I had plenty of pictures which I forgot to backup, and I want to restore them. I even tried to access the nandroid backup files, but no success!
I was accustomed with the old CMW, where you had the .img files, but I got no clue on what to do here!
I add the picture of the nandroid backup folder on my PC ( I think the data files are splitted, but I cannot open them in any case, not even with 7zip).
The nandroid was executed via Nexus Toolkit, but I guess it has been done through TRWP.
Long story short:
1) how can I access the pictures inside the nandroid backup?
2) how can I restore a nandroid backup that keeps failing?

Maybe CWM does things differently, I don't know, but with TWRP, a Nandoid backup doesn't back up your SD card partition, so if you wiped everything, all your pics are gone. Sorry.
Yeah, I guess so.. Managed to recover something with DISK DIGGER (its an app, free on the store). Just wanted to write it here, so if anyone has the same issue can recover this way!

Best Backup Approach

Hi there!
I just came out of a bootloop due to trying hard to get encryption working on my rooted Edge+.
I had a backup I did through Phillz Custom Recovery.
But to my surprise, the backup didin´t save my files. Although the phone was successfully restored, my files (photos, videos, ringtones etc) were missing.
So my question is: what is the best approach to backup (and quickly restore if needed) a rooted Edge+ with arter97´s kernel e Phillz custom recovery?
I think it´s possible to backup through adb... but is it possible to restore from adb directly through the custom recovery?
Imho, a perfect backup solution would backup the phone directly to my PC (so no space would be used on the phone) and it would be possible to restore to the phone from the PC as well.
What about Titanium Backup? Would it enable me to backup the entire phone and restore it easily in the future?
If there are any guides around that work with the Edge+, I couldn´t find searching... I did find information about backing up through ADB, but none of them were sure about what gets restored. In fact, I have found conflicting info (people saying that things were backed up but couldn't restore some apps).
Any opinions, ideas, suggestions? What would be the best approach?
Thanks in advance!
