just load CM ROMs if that's what you want
but be warned CM ROMs will render your S-Pen useless, no Air Commands (unless they added support for that without the TW stuff)

do not need any of those...can you link me a tutorial on how to do that?

No CM available for Exynos devices yet is there?

TouchWiz for Android 4/ICS = EPIC FAIL

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ISAI6qbQm6U
Obviously this is a beta version of the upcoming samsung official ICS release for S2, it looks like a total catastrophe with TouchWiz..it looks NOTHING like beautiful Nexus Interface.
If it will look anything remotly similiar on the GNOTE it would be catastrophic..
Yeah agree. If the final looks like this i'm gonna flash vanilla ICS.. Well, i'll probably flash that either way.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
yes this is total dissapointment, all people expect a total new UI, and what we get is something that looks identlical to the interface we have right now... it does not look like ICS at all... looks more like gingerbread... what are Samsung thinking drop the TouchWiz crap, TouchWiz has played out it's roll... it feels like windows 7 but with the xp GUI...
We should send a protest list or something to samsung cause this looks like a total nightmare...all people expect the brilliance of the Nexus GUI.. but this looks even worse then I could imagine.
Long live cm9!!

I wouldn't mind vanilla ICS, but there'd better be a way to turn off the on-screen soft keys on phones that have hardware ones. Also, I can't stand having to reach all the way to the top of the phone for anything but notifications. The menu button at the bottom better continue to work the same.
The vanilla runs well on the fassy. Same stuff new version.

I think the phone will look odd with ICS anyway. You will have two rows of redundant keys, even though one may be not working.

To some one who have not used android before, can you explain to me what you mean with Vanilla ICS ????
You mean it will be possible to root with the standard ICS interface ?
Will the performance be as good as the official or will be lagging and buggs etc ?
Anyway, why it look so similar to todays gingerbread is maybe cause samsung are doing an half-hearted upgrade..
they have promised us ICS.. but they only seem to put small amount of energy to make a big update...
the interface looks identical etc.. Why I wanted ICS was cause it is basically a totally new OS...compared to gingerbread.

Stock Android. The way Google had intended it to look, feel, and perform.
This is unbelievably disappointing. I'm still glad I have my S2, because of the ASOP rom currently under development. I'll most definitely switch between phones whenever I want and just store any content that matters on an SD card, so my phone is virtually hot-swappable between devices.

Yes I understand that, but there will be no official version cause the stock version most be modified to be able to work with GNOTE ???
I just wonder if it is possible to port the ICS to GNOTE without any glitches and performance loss... how does past vanilla versions works for other phones ?

It depends on developer support. If the devs for CM9 can port it to the Note, than only then can we expect a (hopefully) fully functional ICS rom on the Note.
As it stands, Google only releases official vanilla roms to their Nexus line of phones, and they release the source for other manufacturers/devs to port to other phones.
I hope that answers your question mate, the way it was worded was a bit difficult to fully understand.

Well official as in with 'nothing' on it, no carrier or vendor tweaks/applications added and in this case, things like Touchwiz.
Also ICS was launched with Galaxy Nexus not Galaxy Note, but regardless I would presume that Samsung or another developer on XDA or any other forum will create a port to the Galaxy Note.
Vanilla just means that it doesn't have the other unnecessary stuff loaded e.g. Touchwiz. Vanilla is always compiled directly from AOSP source.
Why is everyone so angry about samsung including touchwiz into the ICS rom (I assume that's what this discussion is about?). Isn't the best thing about android the incredible ease of installing another launcher? Shouldn't the stock launcher just be a .apk away?

Well it's true what you said, but Samsung will skin almost everything.
The phone, browser, music player....all of them will be skinned with TW & I guess people in this thread (me include) prefer the stock ICS look and feel.
atm i looks not really nice, but! it is an internal beta, maybe even a alpha version, nobody knows if samsungs is just trying and looking if touchwiz is working under ics, i'm sure that they will make some more cosmetics for ics.
Dunno but no on saw the video? Didn't you something wrong or better few things that where not as expected on it? First the phone had a yellow triangle meaning Samsung had a problem flashing a non stock Rom on the phone. Second on the *#1234# if you not 100% eye sight old man here the csc is unknown.......... . Third the keys back and menu keys aren't functionally at all, only if they had the drivers for them to implant on csc so they could work. Fourth the browser not sure was on xda forums when he started? Or did I see wrong or now I know they where looking xda forum for a working csc file to make the buttons work.
And about touchwiz give me ics on note even with a touch I don't care, so someday the devs can make a custom Rom, on our needs. But they need to have something to play with and take some codes/ideas from the custom files.

Wow.. that is disappointing... i thought i could just flash back the stock rom when ICS is out. Now looks like I'm going to stay rooted for good.

[News] Spen Apps + Touchwiz & Sense Features coming to CM9!

Friends,
Soon, we will be able to experience the apps and features of sense and touchwiz, even spen apps etc. on CM9.
Remember the team working on it is making everything from scratch for cm9, and not porting anything from samsung or htc. it will all be open source and built purely for cm9
Read more about it here: http://opendesign.blamesamsung.org/features
A lot of users, always wanted many aspects and apps to be present on cm9 , and now the wonderful dev's are going to make it happen.

Could you shine a bit of light on what might appear to be a contradiction between what you said above, and what is in that site's FAQ?
http://opendesign.blamesamsung.org/faq
Besides some specific features that might not work as expected on your device (like the features for Galaxy Note's stylus, or tablets), almost all of them will work on any device that can run CyanogenMod 9 (ie. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich).

O no how do you **** up a cm9, by putting tw **** in it. That is not what cm9 is about. If i want TW than i flash a damn stock rom. Cm9 is all about clean simple light and fast.
I hope miui does not do the same.

Touchwiz support != Touchwiz.
The very first entry in the FAQ on the site handles your concern.
Is this a rip-off of apps from Samsung/HTC roms?
No. All the features are written from the ground up and will be opensourced early on. In the end, they will be merged into either CyanogenMod 9 repositories, or Android AOSP repositories (or both).
There is no proprietary code or data involved in our project.

I know its a bit old thread, but if someone is still looking for spen support in CM (or other rom) give my app a try:
GMD SPen Control XDA
Thanks,
I'm waiting too long to have tw and Spen features on CM.
hope we have it soon

Question about cyanogenMOD

Hi friends......
I wanna know what special feature is available on cyanogenmod that don't have in ours custom roms?? And why everyone just want a CM port on their phone??? What's the benifit of it?
Can anyone explain????
im curious too

Anyone don't know??? Then why everyone's interested in CM???
CyanogenMod (pronounced sigh-AN-oh-jen-mod), is a customized, aftermarket firmware distribution for several Android devices. Based on the Android Open Source Project, CyanogenMod is designed to increase performance and reliability over Android-based ROMs released by vendors and carriers such as Google, T-Mobile, HTC, etc. CyanogenMod also offers a variety of features & enhancements that are not currently found in these versions of Android.

The "varities of features" are not ordinary ones, and when you use a CM integrated phone, you'll understand better. So, there are many, many benefits. In short, cyanogen mod is like a trip to heaven for our phone.
well it depends in what version of cm but 4 me cm7 is enough... cm7 is
1 android 2.3.7 while our stock and custom rom is 2.3.6
2 it has crt effect when turning off the screen and when you enable rotation on the screen rotates like galaxy s3 or like apples iphone
3. The lockscreen we have ported is just basic compared to lockacreen of cm7, it has more features and more customizablility
4 custom themes are readily available, even OTA i thinkcant exactly remember
5 theres a lot of stuff you can tweak in the system without ever needing 3rd party apps like setcpu, nofrills and the like
These are just the top 5 things i want from cm7
And i know all this cause i used cm7 galaxy S for a day

CM is good
As compared to other custom Roms CM is best you can also compare it with any of the custom roms and ICS or Jelly bean mostly not possible to port in low end devices but the CM is platform that provides these versions of ported roms to low end devices.

[Q]Most popular and stable custom ROM

I just got my phone couple of days ago, and today had the time to root it. Which is the most popular ROM for this device ?Is it worth to flash a custom ROM ?I mean for someone who needs a stable build ?Can you recommend something ?

CyanogenMod is always going to be the most stable custom ROM as long as you use the stable releases, simply because it's the most actively attended to and tested one. MIUI, Paranoid Android and Slim Bean come next and have their own perks, but they're just not on the same level.

not really,
other roms base on the most stable rom in existance, google android, aosp. cm must take this base and make it possible for old, incompatible devices to get their share. thats only possible by extending the living heck out of it. some of it is overlaid, some is not. errors come in naturally, that just happens when you leave the safe path of aosp, hundreds of commits going through gerrit stemming from all kinds of sources. dont get me wrong, cm is an amazing project. but it cant provide the same stability that aosp based roms provide, the same speed and level of customization.
as a developer i can tell you that the software i get from google is flawless, they support me with functioning drivers and blobs, documentation and guidelines. i can literally forget about everything else and go wild, extend and create new stuff that wasnt there before. i will never run into the myriads of problems the cm team is uncovering in their crusade of introducing android to legacy devices - and that in my opinion is their true power.
pps- i see you included MIUI as well. think again. guess which is the worlds biggest rom with millions and millions of users. miui. guess whos the only rom that has on ounce of design credibility. miui. they have done things in their freetime that rival professional products and you can be sure a matias duarte will not go to xda when he's out of ideas, he's taking note when miui drops a release instead. i think you are greatly underestimating them.

dont get me wrong, cm is an amazing project. but the reason it traditionally takes a backseat on nexus plattforms is that it cant provide the same stability that aosp based roms provide. it cant provide the same speed and it cant provide the same level of customization. on all other plattforms cm is the unrivaled king, that is true.

paranoid android, just put all the apps back in phone mode and its basically a stock rom with added speed and a few more customizations. plus i like the kernel colors and the custom app colors, very well done
xylon is also great but not personally my favorite, has many customizations and is much like aokp with its own feel
Codefire-X is also one of the most stable and speedy roms out, it and PA are probably my favorite roms right now, and i feel bad its often overlooked, its like aokp with a more stockish feel but faster and stabler at this point
theres also Carbon rom which is made by a few the awesome liquid rom developers, havent tried yet but looks good
Saber Mod looks cool too with its linaro optimizations but as with carbon i havent had time to try it out
there are also some interesting roms like PAC and Rootbox, but those dont really sound like they would appeal to you as much
also keep in mind i mostly prefer the roms in original android development because of the general cleaner feel, but many of the roms in normal android development are also good if you want a bit of a different feel or special tweaks
but whatever you choose, just dont stay on stock you wont regret going with any of these roms over stock
I'm using MMuzzy rom now for some days and is realy good. Is aosp with some optional features i miss in stock rom. I combine it with Trinity four kernel and for now no problems with that combination.
Never like CM or aokp...to much features and never work without problems.

Is there any AOSP ROM for the n95005? and why not?

Just wondering is there any fully stock/vanilla roms for the note 3?
I've seen people on this forum in the past on custom ROM threads saying they hate Samsung and devs wont supply vanilla roms, I don't understand why? is it because of the bootloader or something?
I would love to use my Note 3 on a purely stock rom, something like the google play edition S4.
Any help greatly apprectiated, thanks

Bizzare isn't it?? espcially on XDA I would have expected more Note 3 users and devs to want a fully stock experience, given the hardcore specs on the phone im sure with a particular kernel the stock/vanilla experience would give some great battery life too.
I use NOVA with Xposed for a tweaked custom feel, but its on top of touchwiz. I'd like the google play edition feel.

C'mon devs surely someone would love a stock android experience on a beast like the Note 3?!
