My zoom has always had EOS on it so I don't see why I would go stock. The EOS team has always surpassed my expectations for what to include in their roms.

I was tempted to try the EOS JB ROM but kept reading about people being disappointed with it.

Zero issues with the OTA so far, for me.

Only one person mentioned being disappointed with EOS JB (which is brand new and in its early stages of enhancements) as opposed to EOS ICS (which is fully mature and magnificent). Let me tell you...the EOS JB Rom will only get better and is 100% fully functional now. I've never heard of that commenter and he/she probably doesn't know some of the tricks to increase smoothness. Also, stock JB will not incorporate linaro enhancements...
I expect big things from EOS with a Jelly Bean flavored ROM, but for right now, reading through the thread, it isn't there yet. The OTA is fully functional, so I'm going to stick with it until the EOS team has a release candidate.
OP asked for everyone's thoughts! These are mine.
Have used Teameos and Cyanogenmod in the past, current and future. Technically I had a Canadian Xoom and it is poorly supported by Moto Canada so I jumped into the custom ROMs. Makes for a much better experience. Fortunately the developers support the WiFi Xoom better then Motorolla Canada. Thank you.

OTA.
because only motorola have the source and can compile true JB.
eos is working with mix from nexus source, ics source, binary from ota ...

Used both briefly.
Moto's is missing the hotword capability in google now.
EOS has it, but I thought you could hotword from the home screen instead of being inside google now.
EOS no doubt for me as I am from the UK and moto hasn't even released ICS over here yet plus eos sorts bugs out in a day or two Motorola would take weeks

will eos use the OTA from yesterday as the new source/basis for their JB work?
Motorola update for now - two big reasons (for me):
- Stachre's updates always properly flash the bootloader and system images while doing full wipes. I love this...I feel it gives me a fresh start and it provides upgrade integrity.
- Stock kernel is nice for now and everything feels smooth although I havent tried the recent nightlies of EOS - so it could be comparable.
However, EOS will no doubt add awesome functionality and more than likely Linaro improvements. When this happens I will go back to EOS.
We all win big when the OTA's hit devices though. They are both crucial (Stock and EOS)
Team eos definitely,

But of course! (But to be honest, there weren't any Earthshaking changes- EOS and Moto are essentially running the same code-base, and surprisingly enough the NVidia Graphics Core stuff (OpenGL, etc.) didn't change at all.)
Having not used the official OTA, I can't say for sure, but I would say if you're familiar with using beta roms and working around small bugs, definitely go with EOS. If you want something stable, official.
Since the radios were fixed, EOS is pretty stable, considering. As long as you're not one of those people that expects a rom that's still in development to be perfect, then bashes the rom in the forums when it's not, I would recommend trying it.
Can't compare the official JB update but EOS 3 nightlies have been faster than the official ICS build by Motorola, so I am happy plus I love the quick toggles that are found on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0. EOS only gets better and I look forward to updates improving speed.

I rooted my DHD a few months back with Cyanogenmod 7. best thing i ever did. I'm now well into flashing different roms as well helping my friends do the same. I just downloaded Virtuous infinity. Its a new ics rom for rooted DHD users who otherwise without would not know the joys of the new ics (ice cream sandwich) rom on your DHD phones as well many other older but still amazing 4g phones.
amazing ics. completely thrilled with vartuous infinity alpha3. A must try. Must install property. It is alpha testing but minimal bugs. Only one posing a prob for Me is headphones external control does not work

I'm glad you're enjoying custom ROMs.
However, if you wanted to comment/review/give feedback to a certain ROM, the place to do so is on the thread of that ROM.
So I am making this in the hopes that others will be able to port things faster without doing a ton of background and just getting into it
ROM's from the following devices can be ported to the shift
HTC EVO 4G
HTC EVO 3D
HTC Desire Z and T-Mobile 2
Samsung Galaxy Nexus S
Galaxy Nexus
Nook tablet (needs service edits)
LG Optimus Black
Huawei u8818
I know that I am missing A LOT, so please feel free to suggest any other devices that can be ported from!
Evo, galaxy nexus, nook tablet but needs service edits, Evo 3d cant think of anymore

The single most important thing for me when it comes to ports is screen resolution. I mean similar hardware will make it easier, but 9 times out of ten if the resolution is the same as ours the hardware is close enough not to make much of a difference. Mokee was ported from a ZTE device and optimus black, the Miui JB was from the Desire Z build, Shendu OS based off of Huawei u8818.
EVO 4G is probably the easiest, because it is the most similar. A good place to start for first time porters.
Hey homies,
I've since moved to the Note II, but I saw this chart today and noticed that Epic 4G is still kickin' trash:
http://phandroid.com/2013/02/07/has-anyone-ever-asked-if-your-non-samsung-phone-was-a-galaxy-poll/
No doubt in large part thanks to the wonderful dev community the Epic 4G enjoyed for several years.
still rockin mine currently with pacman rom. if the development scene was as hot as it is i would have probably picked up something else by now. i have to admit tho that ill probably be jumping ship for the GS4
Now THAT is pretty sweet. I'm still rocking it, cm10 / nexus modem. Blazing fast, no lag or anything, can't see myself upgrading anytime soon.

I've had mine for two and a half years and have no reason to upgrade. Couldn't be happier with my OG Epic currently running flawless on CM10.1 preview build with LF2 modem and NS4G patch. All thanks to the awesome devs and the community!

Man, I'm sorely missing the nexus modem, my Note gets double my stock Epic 3G speeds, but a 4th of my ns4g patched Epic's speeds.
