Help, safestrap no longer backing up files. - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am running ss3.7 and it was backing up fine. Decided to try some new rooms in different slots but now ss is not backing up for me. It says it's installed. It shows a backup file but it contains 0megs. Any solutions?

I even tried going to 3.71, which was a mistake, and now Ai went back to ss3.65, but I'm not able to back up!

Did you try connecting to pc and seeing if they are in default spot SS saves to which I think is internal ?
I moved mine from internal to my sdcard and it didn't recognize so I moved back

Clearing my SD Card

So after all these apps and Rom flashes and everything, I've noticed that my SD card is bloated with left over directories and files and such. Is it ok to just copy the content of the SD Card to my computer, then format it as Fat 32, then put it back in the phone and everything will be fine?
I'm just cautious as to what the Rom's might be putting on it, and what the nandroid backups are going to do if they are moved.
Just trying to be careful, thanks!

The only things that would get messed up would be rom manager backups ( copy them back into the correct folder after you put it back into the phone) titainum backups, any apps you install to SD.
I do this every few months myself. i hate all the bloat
I believe anything leftover on your sdcard would be typically from apps not roms. In regards to copying your sdcard contents, just copy everything onto your pc, reformat, then paste it all back on. As always, be careful and delete only what you know is in excess or no longer used.
You'd be fine.
Will work as long its formatted in the phone after youve erased your card
I had the same issue but I somehow deleted Gvoice and Gtalk and now can't download from market. Can anyone tell me how to fix this? Any help would be appreciated, its been days and I'm dying over here ={

weird. I'd reflash the ROM..
I tried something different recently.
After cleaning up my SD card, and reloading different ROM and stuff, I removed my card and put it into my PC. Then using Perfect Disk, ran "Smart Placement" then "Consolidate Free Space" I have no data to back up the speed feeling. The file access just seems a little snappier.

Yeah I flashed the ROM and Gapps back and everything was fine. Thanks ^_^

TWRP backup failed. Can I change the destination?

On my S4 that was rooted with Odin and has TWRP installed, I'm getting ready to flash the BEANS ROM in it, but when I try to make a backup of my stock ROM, it says it failed due to not enough memory. I cleared a bunch of crap off of my memory card but it still failed. I can't find anything telling me where it is trying to save the backup to, my phone or my SD card. Does anyone know if I can edit the location it is trying to save the backup to?

I suggest to try OBackup from Play Store. The same issue occurred to me and I was able to backup successfully using this wonderful app. And yes you can change the backup location from the app settings.

If you tap in the backup screen on the storage location, you can choose for the external sd card.

Exactly what I needed... I thought. I was able to change the storage location to "Micro SD Card" and still comes back as FAIL. The bottom line says "Not enough free space on storage". There is 27 GB available on the SD card.
Anyone? Team Win?

Philz Touch is the most stable recovery imo atm http://www.google.nl/url?sa=t&rct=j...oYgAjwGhpXgFeQpbRFsAaOQ&bvm=bv.50165853,d.ZWU. Flash with Odin or CWM/TWRP.

I'd been pretty happy with TWRP till now. Flashed Phils Touch and running a backup now. It sure is slowwww. At least it is working. Many times TWRP would take a while to even load. I still wonder if something else is going on there...

Storage space internal

Hi all,
I just rooted today and got this Note 3 up and running. Coming from a Note 2. I am now getting a "storage space running out" notification. When I click on it says that my Misc files have 29.61GB of usage, however when I click on that-no folders stick out to me as having large file use? I have the stock ROM saved, as well as running BAJA in slot 1. Any suggestions on how to free up some space?
Don't use two roms with all your apps in both.

Ok, thanks. Question is this, do I have to backup the current ROM I am using each time I move from slot to slot to maintain settings? or is it auto saved?
Found my answer to my above question however other than the bloat ware, I only had 3 apps that I downloaded on stock so something else has to be eating it.

if you moving the rom to a different slot a back up is best if you just loading a different slot no need for backup everything is the same as it was when you rebooted the phone its just like having more then one phone if you have more then one slot with a rom on it
started looking at moving my apps to the SD card, at least the ones I could and I only have 2GB of app taking space. And when clicking misc files, only 60MB or so of data is shown, so something huge is taking up internal space that I cannot see. I know BAJA is what, 1.7GB I think, could the stock ROM be taking up that much room?
And when plug it into the computer,it is showing 18.9GB free on internal????
Maybe trying doing a wipe and reinstall the ROM. With stock you should have about 22GB free out of the 32GB total. Sounds like something is glitched?
Maybe I got a bad download of Baja? I haven't tried to re download but everything worked except for this storage issue. I ended up wiping and sticking with stock root after wiping and reinstalling the Baja file I had didn't work again. Might just wait for 4.4 to come out and alliance to be released for the note 3 hopefully.

If it is a bad download and you didn't redownload then it won't fix anything...Why don't you redownload? It's only a little over 1GB and shouldn't take long.
Boot into recovery, create a new ROM slot. Increase the data partition size to the max(I believe its 4gb). Use this slot and flash ROM. Profit

Wiping data should leave media and internal storage alone. So pics and stuff I believe should still be there.
You not coming from a really old ROM to new are you and the path has changed ?
As in the emulated sdcard/0 or whatever it is.

TiBu won't restore backups

For the last few weeks I am unable to restore backed-up apps. I have tried on three different clean-flashed ROMs. TruePureX, AICP, and PureNexus. When I flash a new ROM, install TiBU (I have pro key), set the backup directory on my sd card, it says there are no apps to restore. It sees there are 61 backup files but I can't batch restore or manually one-by-one. I have also tried deleting the existing backups and creating new ones. Also tried moving the backups to the internal sd card. Anyone else seeing this?
I can't get it to delete system apps anymore. My guess is that its something to do with "systemless" root. Try another app, I found one that in my case. Although it stinks cause TB has ALWAYS been a must have app.

I don't have systemless root. TiBu is vital. This really sucks. I think I'm going to try reformatting my sd card this weekend.. I have a trouble ticket in the with the devs but I have not heard anything from them.
Reformatting the external SD didn't change anything. It was worth a shot. I took screenshots of what I see when I try to restore with TiBu. In the first shot you can see with a manual restore the restore button is missing for a backed up app that is not installed. And the second is from the batch restore that shows no apps to restore, there should be one.
I noticed the same problem across multiple roms as well. I wasn't able to figure out why or how to fix it though.
Any chance you're using a knock-off SD card? I ran into this when I purchased a purported Samsung SD card that was a fake. After two days of odd errors trying to restore a TiBu backup, someone from XDA asked me the same question. There are videos online to find out whether you got a real or dud SD card.
[I was able to return the fake card and complained about the Seller.]

I'm pretty sure it's a real Samsung card. All other backup and restores work. I keep my TWRP backups on it too. Only TiBu has the problem.
If backup and restore works to internal memory, then try another card to eliminate the card being an issue. If backing up to internal memory doesn't work then it is software/app related.

Yep. I've tried using the internal sd with the same result. I'm pretty sure it's not my external sd because sms backup and restores work and so does TWRP. From what I can tell TiBu sees the backups. It reports there are 61 files. And, since this has started, I've let google restore the apps at setup and then I am able to restore the data with TiBu (not a preferred method).
Can someone tell me what the permissions are on the TitaniumBackup folders and then the backup files within (someone with a working TiBu of course)? I want to check those.

IDK on the permissions, checked in Solid Explorer & it doesn't show them where it normally does... I do know that TiBU works though, I restored apps this morning & everything worked seamlessly.
Have you tried enabling installation of apps from unknown sources? Not sure if that'll fix it, but it's worth a shot.

Yes. Thank you!
So my permissions are different on my external sd card but I can't change them. So I moved my backups to my internal sd card (again), checked permissions, tried different storage (file system & document), and no change. I still haven't heard anything from the TiBu developers. Could it have something to do with the device id? When you flash a new ROM it asks if you want to keep the new id or restore the old one. I always just keep the new one but is that an issue? They think I'm putting it on multiple devices? Stray arrows, I'm just trying to figure it out.

Can you change permissions on other files and it's just tibu you can't? Or try other file manager? I tried both root explorer and mixplorer and were able to make changes easily. Otherwise I'm guessing it's because of mm vs lp?

I thought it might have been a permissions and/or a non-writable external sd card problem but I was able to change the permissions on the TiBu folder on my card.

I've looked but can't find it. Not gotten any updates on tibu lately, so that isn't it. Hopefully I'll find post at some point. Other stuff aside, just another reason I'm staying on lp. Not sure if you can revert back and see if things work as expected.
