[Q] Newest OTA on Verizon breaks backup assistant? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Wondering if anyone else has this issue?
I had deleted bloatware on 11A so I added it all back in. Setup backup assistant through the LG setup wizard to make sure it was working, it was, then took the OTA. After the OTA backup assistant account is gone under contacts, and when I go to LG setup wizard is says contacts sync off. I click on it to open backup assist and after the introduction screen for BAU it fails saying unfortunately Backup Assistant has quit working.
I'm lost here and I'm also confused why there still is BAU since Verizon has that cloud app now that does it all.

Would someone be willing to at least try this out and see if it works or if it's just me? Any ideas?
Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk

Just tried.... Initially it failed to connect to Verizon servers (with Data turned off & on wifi). Turned on Data fixed the connection issue.
Afterward, backing up via wifi was fine. No FC for me.
I'm on Malladus 1.2.3 (based on stock 12B).

[SOLVED] Google Prepaid Card Image Blank/White

Hi all,
After waiting for weeks and finally successfully provisioning my Google Wallet prepaid card, the card image is blank anywhere its displayed, and the card carousel, and the help menu, and transactions, including etc. I'm on a Nexus S i9020a with Android 2.3.6 Stock, no root with the Google Wallet fix that was kindly uploaded to XDA. I was in this same situation months ago, and but the card image was there.
What could be the problem? Thanks so much in advance!

mine is doing the same... had it setup and working fine on rooted and unlocked stock 4.0.2 gnex... Then i decided to finally install a custom rom (aokp milestone 4). During restore process, market automatically downloaded and installed wallet. Then i used titanium backup to restore data only. my wallet seems to be setup fine and shows my remaining balance that i had prior to custom rom install. The only thing that seems strange is the image for the prepaid google card is white/blank...
Any ideas?
PS. I've tried all combinations of titanium backup data only, app and data, clearing cache/data...
Also, I am in canada and spoof t-mobile with market enabler to get it working...

UPDATE: i was able to solve this problem by resetting wallet from within the wallet app, then re-signing into my gmail acount... it downloaded my profile from money network and shows my proper balance and the image of the google prepaid card...

I tried doing exactly that, and I even called the money network but they're suggestions also did not work, and I don't really know what else to do. I'm also in Canada, but thank you very much though for your suggestion. :-D

[Q] Unable to restore S Health data since Kit-Kat update

Greetings All,
I’ve run across a problem restoring all my S Health data since the update to Kit Kat. I wanted to do a factory reset after getting the 4.4.2 update last week, since I had something that was draining the battery…it was down to 50% at noon then 30% after I get home from work with very light use. I figured it might have been some app that I had installed that was draining the battery since I had the battery drain issue on 4.3 as well.
I have lots of S Health data stored since I got the phone last year and I didn’t want to lose it. The S Health app was doing the regular auto-backups. But, before doing the factory reset I did a manual backup from within the app. I did the factory reset and then went back to the S Heath app and signed in with my samsung account.
When I went to restore the data, I keep getting an error (screenshot attached) that says:
Restoration Failed
Restoration is not possible because current version is low
The S Health app shows to be on version 2.5.0.66, is this the right version on 4.4.2? Checking from within the app doesn’t show any updates available.
I don’t recall the app version before I did the factory reset, but I don’t remember it getting updated since I did the backup or after the factory reset.
Anyone else have a problem restoring the S Health data after the update to 4.4.2? I don’t remember having this error before on 4.3. I’ve restored the data on earlier versions of Jelly Bean a few times and didn’t have a problem.
I’ve talked to samsung about it, they had me clear the caches for the app, which didn’t help.
Has anyone else seen this error before and if so, did you find a way to restore the S Health data?
I have a backup of the phone in Kies from about a week ago, but I didn’t see anything about restoring the S Heath data, on the S memo data.
Thank you kindly,
Chris
I have same problem

Same problem here. I tried just about everything and couldn't get it to restore. Eventually just gave up and restarted the auto backup, which cleared my previously backed up data. Oh well. Looks like Samsung messed up the ability to restore from backups made before the 4.4.2 update. I hate to say it, but it looks like you might be screwed unless Samsung fixes this and pushes an update out.
On another note, I had similar battery drain when I updated, which was why I also did a factory reset and lost my S Health data as well. The factory reset didn't fix the battery drain, but I disabled sync for some Google services that I don't use, and my battery life is significantly better. I'd try that if you are still suffering from bad battery life.
You might try pulling the app from an MK2 rom. Uninstalling the new one and installing old. Restore data and then update or install new apk. I don't use this app ... so I'm not sure. If it's still a problem maybe I will do some digging.

I have the same problem also.
I tried a second factory reset and still can't get my data to restore.
Greetings,
I'm wondering if this is just a bug in 4.4.2 since I did the backup from 4.4.2 and attempted to restore from the same rom. The only difference is I did a factory reset before I attempted the restore. I'm wondering if I can root and flash back to a previous 4.3 rom and restore s-health, then backup using titanium, flash 4.4.2 then restore from titanium? I've not had any problems restoring the backups before on any of the previous stock roms. I'm also tempted to create another samsung account and try saving and restoring a backup of the S-Health data to test to see if the restore even works at all.
The error message is somewhat ambivalent on which is the lower version, the data or the app?
On a side note, does anyone know of a good pedometer app that at least has the ability to do a local backup of data? I really like having the history of my travels. I like the ability to just turn it on and have it logging in the background.
I may also give samsung support another go and/or post in the sprint s4 support forum to see if anyone's having the same problem.
Thank you kindly,
Chris
Any solutions?
How typical.
S-Note Documents from Samsung Note 10.1 with Android 4.1.2 don't transfer over to the Note 3 and Note 10.1 with S-Note and Android 4.3
Given yet another example, we know this is not even an isolated problem.
Samsung's software is intended to be nothing more than a tech demo without actual customer usability in mind.
Greetings,
No luck so far. I've pretty much given up hope of ever recovering the data. I've posted about the problem on the sprint community S4 forum. They were helpful, but ultimately no luck. One person says the version should be 2.5.5, but my phone only has 2.5.4 with no update showing up. I've talked with Samsung and they say that I do indeed have the current version.
What version of the SHealth app do you guys have? Did you get an update to it after the 4.4.2 update? In case this helps, I do see that the Kies 3 finally supports backing up the SHealth data now without having to rely on backing up to the "cloud" thru the SHealth app.
I've done a test backup and restore from the shealth app and it did work. I'm not sure what could have happened before, perhaps just a glitch that prevented the restore from occurring.
That's where I am at this point. I'm leery at this point to rely on the in app backup/restore process since I lost all the data going back to May of last year when I got the phone. I'm definitely going to rely on alternative backup methods. I've rooted and will use Titanium Backup to keep a good backup going forward.
It would be interesting to see if everyone has the same version of the SHealth app. Again, I'm on a sprint SPH-L720 NAE kit-kat.
That's all I have for now.
Thanks,
Chris

This worked for me as well. I went through the setup after pretty much writing off all the data I've been collecting the past few months and was very surprised when it informed me that an update was available (even though I couldn't find it in the samsung apps store). Updated to the latest version, then the restore worked perfectly!
I just reset my Verizon Galaxy S4 after some time running with the Android 4.4.2 update. I was using the online data backup option through my Samsung account. The stock android 4.4.2 ROM comes S Health version 2.5.4.154 in it. I attempted to restore my data from the Samsung cloud but it failed saying there was a "network error." I could not find the Samsung Galaxy App store after the update so I followed this a droid life guide called "download: Samsung Apps Store With Access to Photo Editor, Wallet, and Others for the Verizon Galaxy S3" and installed the latest Galaxy Apps apk right from Samsung. After getting Galaxy Apps installed I logged into my Samsung account opened the store and clicked on purchases which detected that S Health needed to update. So I update S Health to 3.5.1.0693 and open it and it says I need to update HealthService to the latest (2.0.0.009) which I did. After launching the app it asked me if I wanted to restore my data which I said yes and it proceeded act like it was restoring it. It turns out it just nuked my data rather than restore it. It seems like I am SOL, unless you can get a previous version of your backup from Samsung. Anybody have any ideas? It really sucks because it was more than a year of data.

Chase Bank App

So after updating to NC2 Kitkat all apps are functioning as one would expect, save for one: the Chase Bank app. I repeatedly try to log in and it accepts my credentials, forwards me to a confirm identification by using an authorization code screen. From there I click email/text/call to get an authorization code which comes promptly.
The problem is when I enter it in, it accepts it then spits an error station that my accepted login credentials are incorrect (they're not) and I'm rerouted back to the login screen to repeat the cycle in futility.
Now what's odd is if I go to the mobile site using ANY browser on my phone (stock browser, chrome, Firefox, opera, tried em all) it will do the SAME thing. However, the moment I click "use desktop mode" and try to log in using the full site, it works perfectly, no hiccups whatsoever.
So, this means something on my phone is blocking the use of the mobilized versions of Chase's site. My first thought was my ad blocker. I disabled that completely and uninstalled it, rebooted, and still no dice.
Any ideas? Had anyone else had this same experience? I'm running stock, rooted, de-odexed Kitkat NC2 for reference. No tweaks aside from Wanam via Xposed framework.
Another thought was maybe it's checking my root status as ISIS Mobile Wallet does. Thus I downloaded a root cloak (aptly called rootcloak in Xposed download section) for just such apps. Alas, this too is not the problem.

Im on nc4 non rooted device and the app works flawlessly. Not sure if this helps you just adding my .02 A lot of the lil bugs I encountered were gone after a full reset. maybe u should try it.

I'm using NC4 rooted and Chase is working fine for me. I never had to verify though because I restored the app from titanium backup. It may be obvious but did you try clearing the app data? Maybe you have a backup to restore from when it was working?
Edit: Rereading your post, I also successfully used Chase on NC2. Also, you can use Titanium Backup to restore an app and data from a nandroid backup if you didn't backup through titanium.

By any chance do you have a proxy set on your APN's? Jot it down and erase it, including the port number.
If you have normal internet working - then it must be a problem APN-wise.
You can isolate it down to the hosts file, but if you use apps like Adfree or ad blocking software, then it really eliminates it down to your APN settings. For ad blocking software to work, proxy and port number must be removed. Try placing a proxy back if it's gone.
Thanks for the answer.
I have no clue what to do reading and rereading your post...
It's too technical
Update
This happens only when i press the refresh button on the widget. And only on mobile data.
Solved by wipe data.
However this wiped all sdcard contents
Really bad.
The wipe data also fixed a problem I had with delivery reports not working.
Although enabled both on stock app and gosms.
But but but...
...after some days the delivery reports again stopped working.
So please I have read one million posts about this delivery report issue.
Can you help and suggest any fixes?
Thanks
I also have the problem with the SMS delivery report.
Still don't know how to fix?
No luck no fix yet.
What device you have?
Android version?
I have gosms and mightytext apps that may be messing
Do you have any of those apps?
Only by diagnosis we may reach something
My device is N9005, stock 4.3.
I don't have GoSMS nor mightytext app, but I have installed HushSMS and also the its Xposed module.
I'm not sure if it may cause the 'SMS delivery report' problem. Tried to uninstall HushSMS and its Xposed module but the problem still persist.
I think factory reset may help (as I don't have the problem when I first bought the phone), but I don't want to factory reset
Factory reset will not help
For me it fixed it for a couple of days only
Nobody jumps into this thread
Which means that from millions of note 3 devices we are just a few with this issue ?
Most people don't have the sms delivery report enabled.
(the majority of western-world mobile users doesn't use sms altogether anymore.)
Check with your service provider, there may be a network related issue.
And does the problem also persist if after a reset you don't install any apps, particularly sms ones?
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk 2
It worked after factory reset until I enabled mightytext app.
The app was restored with titanium backup but not set up yet.
After I set it up and used it then no delivery reports anymore
Coincidence? who knows
Of course I uninstalled mightytext but the delivery reports still were not working

[Q] Can restoring to stock ROM fix problems?

Hey guys,
A while ago I had a problem where if I disconnected my phone from Wi-Fi, mobile data wouldn't connect back and I'd have to restart my phone to get it working, and if I happened to find more Wi-Fi I'd have to repeat the process. This started happening since an update. I went into recovery mode and wiped the cache partition and that fixed the problem for about 3 weeks and recently it's been happening again. I know it's not my signal strength. So I was now planning to
Backup with Kies
Flash Stock ROM
Go into recovery mode and do factory restore
Setup phone
Restore phone with Kies
Should this do the trick / fix my phone. I'm not rooted atm.
Only if it's a ROM problem
Made sure Smart Network Switch is disabled in WiFi settings?

If the OTA update was from KK to LP, it is strongly recommended to factory reset your phone once it's updated, the update from one version to another leaves rubbish files behind that cause endless problems, factory resetting fixes the majority

It was an update after Lollipop, but still 5.0. I've never factory reset my phone and I've had it since it came out in April 2014.
Is it okay to use Kies to backup (photos, apps, contacts) and restore my data to my phone after.
Sent from my SM-G900F using XDA Free mobile app
KIES is pathetic for backup restore, it doesn't work
It says it has done a full backup, but when you come to restore, you lose everything
That's pretty crap then. I'll just backup my photos onto my PC then, my contacts will sync with Google and I'll reinstall my apps.
Sent from my SM-G900F using XDA Free mobile app
If you turn on the Google backup feature, it should auto restore your apps once you log back into your gmail account on the phone
