Long story short, I need to replace my White D802 G2's digitizer assembly. I dont live in the US but I trust the ebay sellers in the US more than others. No US seller on ebay stocks a white part for the D802. I found this retailer selling digitizers for the G2. I dont know the difference between the D800, D801, D802, D803 when it comes to the digitizer/screen, and the ebay retailers generally don't have 1 part that covers the whole range of models. This retailer has a part LG G2 D800 D801 D802 D803 LS980 LCD Screen Display with Digitizer Black ..., Rev D that claims to be compatible with D802, but it's black. They also have LG G2 D800 D801 D803 LS980 VS980 LCD Screen Display with Digitizer White..., Rev 1.0, compatible with all the models except D802? Should I take a chance on the white one that doesn't list the D802 or should i just stick a black screen on my phone? Note the Rev D and Rev 1. Also, OEM part would be nice, don't know if the above would be, they don't state.
Thanks
I also am in the process of replacing my glass and digitizer but I'm thinking about just getting the lcd with it as well. Is ebay the cheapest route?

The parts above are digitizer/LCD assemblies. The digitizer and LCD are fused together and it is extremely delicate work to detach them, if even possible. This is also the cheapest i found so far.

Ok. They do have just the glass and digitizer (together or just the glass) listed for slightly cheaper. It's removable with some coaxing from a heat gun and guitar picks, but I would have to purchase some OCA and an inferred lamp (no way would I use double sided tape) so with all that it's gonna negate me trying to do it myself. My frame is a little dented from the fall, but not so bad it has to be replaced. Have you found anything out about the hardware revisions? I've read that the newest d820 have larger speaker/mic holes, maybe the screens have been changed/improved recently?

Haven't found anything on the revisions. I've sent an enquiry to gounlock earlier this week but no response yet. It could be that speaker/hole configuration is slightly different, but that is on the rest of the casing. I suspect the screen is the same dimensions so it could come down to a electronic difference between the revisions. Do you have a D802? Your previous link to etradesupply links to D800 replacement parts.

I have a d800 (usa att). I was referring to the d820 (nexus 5) speaker holes
http://bgr.com/2013/12/13/google-nexus-5-hardware-issues/
The 800 and 802 should be the same screen wise, or at least I hope, but that's what I'm looking to find out. It may be cheaper to buy the international g2 screen if it's compatible. (Literally just bought the broken phone hours ago so I'm still trying to explore all my options)

I cant find anything from lg with hardware revisions, and the only people mentioning it are like 2 sites. The rest of the sites selling screens sell either a white or a black one for all models. I hope someone else can chime in here and say something, in not, I'm just gonna risk it and buy one monday. I still plan on taking a Dremel to those speaker holes in the bottom though....

Ahh, my bad. I think you'll be fine with either of the assemblies (rev 1 or D). I on the other hand don't know if the Rev 1 will work on the D802.

Well let us know what you find out. Send an email to lg and see if they can send you an answer.
I also was curios about why they are different, it seems that the LCD is the same on both models but the connector from the top of the digitizer is different.
Some sellers on ebay sell the same product for US and International variants so be careful when you order.
Sorry to re open the discussion here, but I am on a similar dilemma and would be helpful to know which models have compatible Displays. I have a D800, but I am currently in Argentina, and the model here is the D806. I cant get the D800 spare part, so I looks like I will have to try with the D806 Display.
If anyone can shed some light on the difference, will appreciate.

I've successfully taken my HD2 apart now I'm not sure about the digitizer I need. My phone doesn't have a T-Mobile logo and it came with the leather pouch which I read means it's not the T-M version.
I'm looking for a new digitizer and the one that looks like the connector would fit says it's for the T-M version. Rather than go on about it here is a pic of my digitizer. I'm in the UK so if anybody has shopping suggestions I'd be grateful.

I can't say too much based from picture posted above ...
It could have already replaced unbranded digitizer or it's Telstra, European, Taiwanese version... Are the call and end buttons colored on your phone (green and red respectively)?
If You have enough money, about 89-120$, better choice will be to buy a LCD+digitizer assembly also named LCM, they will work at all versions of HD2, not only T-mobile or European, I tested the LCM from European HD2 with in a T-mobile version of HD2 ant it works perfect. So go on eBay.com and buy one
Call buttons are all grey. I've though about getting the whole combo but it's more than twice the price and I'm not exactly rich so it would have been nice to just get a digitizer. I was hoping there would a way to identify properly which digitizer I need. I've sent a message to one of the suppliers on ebay. I'll see what comes out of it.
According to this article the different versions of the HD2 aren't physically the same size in terms of casing. Do the LCM units fit all the same?

Let me help you:
#1.your picture is defining an uncommon/unbranded TMO(bile)US touchscreen(No doubt about, at least for me!), but grey hardware keys are for international HD2 model, probably you have a (let say) hybrid (home made)version between american(TMOUS) and international model;
#2.nevertheless, in your financial position, I'll look on ebay for an appropriate touchscreen model(there are plenty, most of them with very clear pictures like your's) for about US$30-40;
#3. if you want a combo, as far as I know(and pvii already said it) the 2 LCMs are geometrically identical, but the frame/chasis on which lay on the LCM is different(the american model is longer on 2,0-2,5mm);
#4. international model is cheaper & easier to find.
For more informations/help feel free to contact me!
Cheers!

May be it will be better if You post a photo of rear side of your display or at least say it's product number (from sticker on square copper pad, rear side), i.e. P/N:60H00300-00P is for T-Mobile and P/N:60H00295-00P is for international version.
If You don't have enough money for a european LCM combo, you can buy a LCD apart and digitizer apart, even from different sellers but you have to buy matching parts, both for European or both for T-Mobile version.
Thanks for the info guys. The serial number is the kind of solid identification that I was looking for. The serial on my screen ending in 300-00P indicates that it's the TMobile version.
My theory is that since this phone was bought when it wasn't exactly new on the market HTC had switched to the solderless screens which seem more modern?!?
I'm assuming that in terms of connection the digitisers that look like they will fit in terms of connection should work. I'm only worried about the dimensions of it since the casing of mine is smaller than the real TMobile version from what I can tell.
Since I can't find anything else on ebay I guess I'll order one of the TMobile ones and see if it fits. I'll look for a shop with return policy just in case.
Thanks for the help. If anybody has further suggestions I'd love to hear them.

Read carefully my previous post:
you don't have to be worry, the touchscreen, lcd and lcm are geometrically (length x width) identical!

Yupp, any LCM will fit on any model of HD2.
I wasn't sure which part was identical but if the digitizers are then what I ordered should do the trick. Digitizer should arrive this week so hopefully I'll have something to report about
edit: Digitizer arrived and fits perfectly. I guess my phone was some weird mutation. Solution is to just buy a digitizer with the correct connection, job done.
Oh and getting the right tape is a total *****. I had to take everything apart again because my tape wasn't strong enough!
I thought I'd post my findings and produce some cliffnotes on how I fixed my HD2.
Firstly, if you search youtube for "leo as" and "leo dis" you will find the official HTC videos on how to assemble and dis-assemble the HD2. They make it look easier than it is. Also, they don't separate the digitizer from the screen.
I ordered the tools to "dis" off ebay. Especially the T5 screwdriver was worth getting since it allowed me to find out which digitizer I need. I have a non TMobile version but needed the TM digitizer.
I found that using an old credit card type of card works very well for taking the phone apart. It can reach further into the phone and bends rather than breaking like some of the cheap tools from ebay.
Especially for separating the digitizer and screen it's great. I heated up the digitizer & lcd combo in the oven for a couple of minutes like the video advertised for taking the middle part of the phone apart (you'll see in the vid). Here comes the interesting part: Instead of sliding the card / tool all the way across the screen (between screen and digi), it's enough to just separate it around the edges. There is no glue or adhesive in the middle. It seems obvious now but I got lots of glue all over the LCD which was a bit** to clean.
Another tip that is worth repeating is getting the cheap double sided tape from ebay which is meant for Iphone digitizers (3M branded). I got three of them for £1 incl delivery. I used it to put the "middle" of the phone together. Screen and digi I did with cheap double sided tape which is working but I regret somewhat.
Another tip would be the whit cable (flash?) which goes on the bottom of the mainboard. I put it on top to start with. It's easy to mix up. Also it makes sense to put one end on before you put down the mainboard because that way you still have proper access.
Make sure you have good tape and be patient. I had crap tape and just slammed things together because I was so keen to see if the phone still works. I had to take it all apart again which almost broke the phone because it was coming apart in all sorts of places.
Overall it's like a big, fragile puzzle. I got the phone from a family member who had dropped it so all I had to get was the digitizer and tape. Now I have the best phone that ever lived
If anybody has questions, I feel like I know the hardware of the HD2 inside out.
I also took mine apart to replace the digitizer. I haven't got the new one yet though. I also watched the take apart vid on youtube. Unlike you I didn't disconnect the white wire from under the board. As a matter of fact, I left the other wires attached to the mainboard and just disconnected them from the GPS, camera and Bluetooth boards. At the end of the little channel that the wires are in, there was a little metal tab that held the wires in place. I just bent the tab up to remove the wires. Like you I used a piece of credit card to loosen the glued pieces.
Hi, my screen is cracked on my nexus 7 and I went out ebay and ordered a screen kit but it feels like something is missing, I just do not know what.
Could someone be kind and tell you what is needed more than what I have at home.

Thanks in advance.
I hate to tell you that, but it's near to impossible to change the digitiser ONLY on most modern devices in general and on Nexus 7 in particular.
I had a damaged screen (lcd was damaged as well), so I ordered the whole assembly on aliexpress. I then tried to take apart the broken assembly just to see if I can. Well, as numerous sources say, digitizer is glued to the lcd with a really dense and sticky glue. You need a blow drier and a string to separate them. If you miraculously manage to separate the two without ruining your lcd, you will need to attach the lcd to the replacement digitizer, but i'm not sure the digitizer comes with a glue layer.
On the other hand, replacing the whole assembly is relatively easy, but yes, the price is around $60 shipped (from China).

So in other ways you need a bit luck and be a very patient person?
Isn't there already a screen and digitizer assembled that you just can order and switch with the old one without having to split the screen and hold on and tinkering?
Guess it will be a bit more expensive if there is but it surely can not cost as much as a new one?
(Digitizer + Screen) assembly is available from China sellers in ebay with free shipping. I bought one for 66$ two months back. Got tools for free as gift. Also download and keep a YouTube video alongside 'how to replace glass in nexus 7' by Android Authority

Sure, here's the one I've actually ordered:
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Best...-Screen-Touch-Screen-digitizer/652472351.html
It came with two protective films and a small set of tools necessary for disassembly.
But I can now see even a bit cheaper offers, like this one: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/1pcs...s-7-Assembly-free-tracking-NO/1442470685.html
I've seen some coupon codes for aliexpress flying around (like $5 off on orders over $50), so it might help knock the price a bit further down.
And here's the item ID, 161094480826.
Search and get it in ebay dot com

I broke my D802 digitizer a while back and ended up ordering a whole new LCD/Digitizer set labelled "ePartSolution-OEM LG G2 D801 D802 LCD Display Touch Digitizer Screen Assembly Black Replacement Part" on Amazon (sorry, n00b so not allowed to post links). Now that it finally arrived, it seems that they sent me the wrong part - the top digitizer ribbon-cable's connector is larger than the socket on the flex cable board.
Does anyone know if it's possible to just replace the ribbon-cable part, eg with lg-g2-d800-charging-port-flex-cable-ribbon-with-earphone-jack per etradesupply.com rather than going through the hassle of getting a different screen all over again?
Thanks.

I am in the situation that I have installed the D800 screen over an D802 hardware. I could not see the different size of the connectors, because it was not. But after installation the touch is not all the time responsive, and Drop Down menu is not working.

I'm also using the D800 screen on D802 device, but my top ribbon connector did not fit.
The screen displays everything fine with only the bottom connectors, and there is SOME touch input.
But because the top connector isn't in, touch input is not reliable. (With "Show touch" enabled in developer settings it shows the white touch area jumping all over the screen when I try to touch)
I'm currently only able to use the device with an OTG cable and a small USB wireless touchpad/keyboard.
with OTG & Mouse mine works too, but I intent to do not use it like that.
Is strange because before starting to replace the screen I compared the old connectors with the new ones and they ware matching. I was really surprised by the end when I realize that is not working. What should be different?
My screen replacement was 90 Euro, so I would spend another 30 for that Ribbon Cable Part if I would know that is the solution.

I wish I knew a solution too for the connector too, if theres is one...
Else maybe just bear with this way of interacting with the device and post a local online ad, to buy someone's bricked/non-functional D802 for cheap as long as the screen is intact. Then harvest it
This is what i'm doing, still just waiting.
Guys i have the same problem but i maybe found an solution.
The deal is the DOCK USB JACK flex cable. If you can notice on the pictures
the up side on the digitizer connector are to small on the D802 variant otherwise the
LS980 varian have the ''big'' up digitizer connector.
Now i have an issue on this flex cable of my LS980 and need an new one.
The thing here are that i also have an broken glass and the replacement for the D802 variant.
I sent the questions to a couple of Chinese sellers on ebay and lets see if
anyone have the knowledge to answer this question.
I will post any news...

Hi, I ordered a replacement lcd with touch inc. frame but my top touch/screen connector is too small for my board.
Sounds like I have what you need and you what I need. I'm in UK, if you are also and still have your replacement, swap?
Hi guys, any update about this?
Thanks !
Hello,
Any news about just replacing the flex cable ?
Thanks.
It seems that the longer flex connectors (for the digitizers) are for the LG G2 versions VS980 and LS980 which are Verizon and Sprint phones. Now remains the question if the main flex (like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-Chargin...or-LG-VS980-/311384590958?hash=item487ff7ca6e )is changed will it work to place touch for VS980 in D802 phone?
I bought a D800 flex cable with a d800 screen and replaced my broken d802screen+usb flex cable.
The phone doesnt work properly after replacing those parts :/ It charges very slow ( 20% in 1 hour)
The Touchscreen doesnt really work, its just some random input when i touch it, you cant use the screen like this at all.
I guess theyre just not compatible...or perhaps my replacement screen is broken?
Lets assume its compatible, why would they go through the effort of making different screen/flex cables connector?

Hi, For all of you still in confusion lg g2 has 2 kinds of displays with different pins. d802 and D805 have different pins than every other g2. so if u have any other G2 (variszon att&t t mobile of korean) dont buy display for D802 and D805.
Hope it helps
I have LS980 and I also bought LCD for D802 by mistake. Next I bouhght the flex cable for D802 (with smaller connector) and put those parts in LS980. Phone is starting but display not working. So.... for those that are confused to buy flex cable... it's not working.

hey. if i understood you correctly, i'm in the reverse predicament. i have an 802 and bought the LCD with the longer connector. wanna trade?
Ran into this problem with my glass only repair for the g2.
Repaired the digitizer using LOCA got everything ready to reassemble only to find out the seller sent the wrong glass digitizer for the d802 vs the d801 I have.
Was so pissed off especially after all the screen issues I had in my formal thread.
You would think I'd confirm the flex before I began...go figure lol
Small price to pay for not confirming up front.
Moral of the story... d801's screens are not compatible with d802
I did a search and I couldn't find what I was looking for....so can I install all of the D800's internals (motherboard, battery, etc.) into an LS980 frame/housing?

Yes. The LS980 actually has the D800 part number for the midframe parts. I realize that if you look around, the D800/D801 and LS980/VS980 parts are usually listed separately, but for the housing/midframe, the LS980 uses the D800/D801 parts and not the VS980 parts.
Source: I have been repairing phones for 10 years and made a business out of it. I have a LS980 in the shop right now and have had several D801 and VS980 over the past couple of months. When I replace the display assembly on the LS980, I order the D800/D801 parts. The VS980 (usually cross-listed as LS980) have fitment issues. Daniel
Yeah I agree with networkdaemon, I've got all 3 and the vs980 has the vibrator motor slightly higher than the ls980 and the d800 series. The bottom charging port will fit... if you force it.

Hi.
Please tell me, what is the difference between LS980/D800 and VS980 screen modules?
Sellers says VS980 is especial and not compatible with all others, including D800/LS980 etc.
Who knews what is the difference and how many types of screens for G2 exists

I am interested to get my D800 screen replaced. I have found a good deal for a VS980 device that has a dead motherboard and want to purchase it to repair my phone. Does the VS980 screen fit the D800 ?
Your advices would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Yeah if I remember correctly, I have my ls980 screen on my vs980. You just can't use any other frame with the VS980 because of the vibrator motor. Good luck and take your time!!

Yep, it does have fitting issues. The vibrator is too far off to even use, the proximity sensor and a grounding support is different/missing. Mobo for LS980 is about 0.5mm too large to seat and the dock port board on bottom is slightly different, board only goes if forced and the port is off-center and not parallel to the case.
The LCD assembly will work, but the frame/chassis is incompatible.

Found this thread when searching for the same answer.
I just swapped the logic board from an ls980 to a d800. The ls980 had a bad screen and battery. The d800 had a bad logic board.
All of the parts are interchangeable but they are not identical. The layout of the logic board is a little different in each model(gsm vs cdma) so when you swap it, you must also keep the two ribbons/connectors that go across the battery as well as the small lower pcb(since it's all connected). Everything else can be mixed and matched.
Also, if you do not need to remove the camera or battery, then don't it. They are glued to the midframe but everything else around them can be removed and swapped so there is no need to touch them if you don't have to.
Fyi, the diy repair vids on youtube such as "LG G2 Screen Repair & Disassemble" by fixez are helpful but only use them as a rough guide and use your own judgement on where and how hard to pry and with what tool. For example, in the aforementioned vid he used an exacto knife to take the back cover off. That seemed like it would be easy to mess up. I found a better way is to take out the sim tray and use a thin piece of plastic(I used my thinnest guitar pick) to catch the edge of the back cover through the hole of the sim tray and then just simply slide it around the border. Leave the bottom for last.
Be ridiculously careful when lining all of the connectors up during reassembly since they are easy to damage and/or not be fully seated. Triple check to make sure they are all solidly connected. Take your time.
Hope this helps someone in the future. Good luck.
Need a video proof
Hi guys,
Can someone please help me? Recently I have ordered a new screen with frame for my VS980. But when it arrived I realized that internals of my VS980 doesn't fit to the frame arrived. Seller sent me frame for D800. I've tried to pull the screen out of frame but broken everything down So I throwed the broken screen with frame to the trash... After some time I realized that I should ask seller for at least partial refund b/c he sent me the screen the frame that doesn't fit.
I have told seller that frame for D800 doesn't fit for VS980 motherboard, but he wrote me that:
"In China, d800=ls980=vs980=d801, while only d802 is not the same. So that is why we need a video for confirm first please. "
Can someone who has D800 frame and VS980 motherboard film a video that they do not fit and send me the link?
Thank you!

D800 frame will not fit the VS980. I know because I just replaced the frame and screen on my LS980 and it was the D800 that fit it. I ordered from etradesupply and the listings are different parts for the VS980 and the LS980.

Qi charger for LS980
I have a LS980 and I want to get a qi charger working on it. I understand that the LS980 sprint model does not come with the receiver, so I was thinking if I could change the back cover with a one with the receiver? I found a link on amazon:
amazon.com/VS980-Verizon-Wireless-Charging-Battery/dp/B014OEU0MK/ref=sr_1_19?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1463201008&sr=1-19&keywords=lg+g2+wireless+charger+ls980
it is for the VS980, can someone please tell me if this would work on my LS980?
Thanks....

The difference is on the midframe. vs980 vibrator is to the left about 1.5mm and metal tab holding mb on bottom right is about 1mm higher. IR camera sensor is different but interchangeable. If it's just the back cover there are no differences there.
Can someone tell, is vs980 main frame compatible with d800 or others parts like back cover and back housing with lens buttons and antenas or it is vs980 only?
I see, buttons are different, so if i need to change back cover i need to change some corresponding parts? but is they fit with frame? Someone try?

As mentioned before, VS980 frame is not identical to any other frame..
What was mentioned is that vs980 main frame is incompatible with others motherboard and second board, but nothing about buttons and back cover. I know they are different, but interesting if i could eliminate these differences and make kind of "vs800 frankenstein".

My d801 motherboard is not working on the ls980 frame.
Last time it worked was when it blinked the red led 2x and then would cut off.
It's battery went dead. Now I have an ls980, swapped the motherboard but the d801 motherboard will not power on using the ls980 frame.
Swapped back the ls980 board and it works perfect.
Is there any difference between the d800/801 frame and the ls980 frame preventing the d801 motherboard from working?
Hi I have a D802 that i brought a while back from Aliexpress running awesome flashed cm13 all good, then i dropped it and the front glass cracked but touchscreen was still working. After a few days the touch response got worse i put it down to maybe all the pressing on the cracked glass was causing this, so I ordered a replacement screen+frame D802.
Heres my problem one of the screen connectors is too short - doesn't fit flush to the connector on the motherboard
Please see attached photos and the last screenshot photo is i think my problem - My screen is D800 screen and my motherboard a D802
So I might order a D800 Screen and Frame, but will that work? Im thinking yes as mine is currently
Has anyone else had this? i think the screens should be compatible :-0
I did force that small connector in booted the phone but no touch response so i think thats the connector for touch.
Then you bought the wrong lcd display

Trust me...listen to these guys!
Been down this road before...search my G2 screen replacement thread if you want more details.
It's better to get the right one vs forcing it. You Definitely Don't Want To Break Your connectors
Guys I understand, Maybe your not getting me...... My D802 has a motherboard from a D802 and a D800 Screen !! - So i brought a D802 screen and it didnt fit
I brought the correct LCD and it didnt fit - My phone is D802 but the motherboard fits a D800 screen ? Ive been running D802 Roms on it for several months
On some roms id have to change the lcd model to JDP maybe this would yeild some answers ?
So to clarify I have a D802 and when i brought the D802 replacment screen etc the connector would not fit - So according to the last photo i posted my connector is from a D800 so im assuming my phone has a D802 insides and the connector and screen is D800.......
This is an easy fix.
Return the 802 screen your bought and buy the d800 screen.
Its the one with the longer connector which is what matches your old one
