guys i think anti-theft apps have a weakness, because the theft could easily turn off the phone a second after having stolen it. so my question is, is there an app which asks for pin when trying to turn the phone off?on devices like ours, with non-removable batteries, could be useful!

I'd pay for an app like that!
Can't do it, the phone has no removable battery and a built in hardware feature to hard reset the phone by holding the power button for about 10 seconds. There isn't a way to disable/lock that.

You may be right, but i think there is a big chance that the thief is not aware of it and gets scared, leaving the phone

Hi,
my screen is set to turn off in 30 seconds but is not happening. Stays on.
Noticed that some time ago but thought was one off but it isn't.
Any ideas???
If i turn the phone off and on, it works again but don't know for how long?
There's an option in the developer settings to keep screen on when charging. Is that ticked?

Happens when not charging????
I have the same issue. Hopefully someone can help
Oh not just me.
Happens when not charging, it is random.
Had like 5 android phones and always end up asking for problems
Is there any android phone without problems?

5 android phones with problems, really...
I've had 4, not a single one. I think you're something to them.

Believe me there is always something
Own two devices atm :
nexus4 - this screen problem, rattle, camera became unresponsive more then once and there is something with the network signal (don't know yet what is it)
nexus 7 - the lag, that's not butter for sure.
Must be me.
I had this problem too. But for now it's back to the 30 seconds. No idea how it started and how it stopped. Pretty sure after I tried a reboot, that it still happened.
Dear all,
I got my N4 since 2 weeks and it worked very well for many days: I used stock 4.2.1, unlocked bootloader and rooted, then updated to 4.2.2. Few days ago I noted a very strange behavior: the battery discharge very fast even without any use. I spent many days debugging the behaviour of the phone also using Better Battery Stats. The result: during standby about 95% of the time in deep-sleep but the battery went down to the rate of about 20%/hour. Then I decided to make a factory reset of everything: I've tried with 4.2.2 but also with 4.2.1.
Nothing: restored every part of the rom (using the official occam image) except to lock again the bootloader, factory reset from the stock recovery and booted. No SIM inside and airplain mode: discharge in 4-5 hours without even touch it...
It looks too strange for me (I used other Android phones in the past): I'm starting to think that something got broken in my Nexus 4. Maybe the battery or something in the hardware that discharge the battery.
What do you think about my case? Any attempt before I contact LG for the RMA procedure?
Many thanks.
I would flash a custom rom and a custom kernel, Project Butter uses a lot of power to have everything as fast as possible. You can have the same/better speed with a custom rom without sacrificing much battery + customization.

I doesn't look a question of "non optimized use": they behaviour is very strange. A full battery (100%) goes to ZERO in about 5 hours without touching the phone, with stock image/recovery/radio/bootloader, without SIM, in airplain mode and after a fresh factory reset.
HELP: I bought it in Germany (Media Markt) and I live in Italy. I'm starting to cry just thinking how to proceed to the RMA...

Contact MM in Germany.
If they can't help you out contact LG Germany directly. They might help you out.
R: [Q] Broken Nexus 4 or what?
Can I be sure that this is an hardware problem? I did the same test yesterday night using a cm10.1 build. Same result. :'(

I have a solution
Buy a good cover for the phone, and just slap the sim directly to the phone without using the tray. This works for me.

^^wrong thread lol
anyway you might want to try opening the back and disconnecting the battery, give the connector a blow or whatever and giving it another try... from previous posts i have read it seems you can do this without disturbing any warranty stickers.

When my galaxy nexus freezes, nothing works until I do a battery pull
What happens with non removable batteries? Always been my biggest fear, is there a shortcut? Hold down a button?
The are times nothing works but a battery pull for me.
Thanks

It will have hold power button down, much like the Nexus 4/most other phones with non-removable battery.
Like an iPhone you hold Power/Home, etc..
Nothing new don't worry .
I pre-ordered the Sprint G2 variant & am anxiously awaiting it's arrival. Earlier today, after flashing a new beta kernal on my Note 2, it decided to freeze & lock up. In such a predicament, typically my last resort is to pull the battery & reboot. It made me wonder: Not having previously owned a phone with a non-removable battery, what are one's options with the G2 in such an instance?
Hold the power button
This doesn't always work on other phones with that functionality. How is the G2 different?
It is my understanding that this is a forced action with non-removable battery phones. It is hit or miss with removable ones though.

Yes it does. it's like a kill switch for the battery. no matter what fails, holding that or specific button combination will kill it and do a hard reboot.

Umm... no, it doesn't. As I said in my post above, my Note 2 has this hard reset functionality upon the long press of the power button. I can tell you from personal experience that there are certain instances where
Oops, hit submit by accident. Anyway, as I was saying, this doesn't always work with my Note 2 and other removable battery devices that I've had freeze up in the past. I'm wondering if it may be custom ROM/kernel related on those devices but again they all had the capability of a removable battery. Not trying to be argumentative, I just know that the long press of the power button hasn't always worked for me in a freeze/locked state on those devices.

there is no way to remove the hold power button function, as it's buried deep inside the phone and is non-reliant on processes or the android system

Is there a doubletap2wake mod/hack/kernel/app/xposed for note 4?
As it has a snapdragon chipset I think it should be possible to make, right ?

DT2W is a huge battery drain for phones that don't come preloaded with the feature. I'd pass. Besides when you have a physical home button it seems a little redundant in my opinion.
How about just a knock pattern? Not to wake, but to log in instead of a pin or pattern.
Coming from a nexus 5 that I would get 3 hours of SOT if I got lucky I feel untouchable when it comes to battery. Now that I have loaded every single feature that I wished my nexus 5 battery would allow me to have on my note 4, there are only two that are missing until I feel satisfied. First is double tap to wake and second Motorola's touch less controls (even when screen is off).also battery life is not going to be a problem as I use a spare battery. Finally there should be a way to make this happen without much battery drain because it's the same chipset as Motorola droid turbo that has this feature (edit :grammer ,English isn't my strong side )

I doubt we will ever see it on TouchWiz because no Samsung has this feature so I can't imagine the kernel or a variant would support it (I may be completely wrong on this). You'll probably see it on AOSP/CM based ROMs.
