Hello. My wife dropped her S4 on concrete alittle over a month ago and has a crack on the top part of the phone. Everything was fine until today when she went to turn on her phone and the screen is black. Everything works as far as notifications, sounds, etc. even the touch works on the screen. I managed to go to a real dark room and barely see the screen enough to turn the brightness all the way up but the screen has a real pale white and some lines through it. Just wierd it started to act up today after she dropped it over a month ago. Does this mean the digitizer is faulty or is it something else? I attached a picture for you to see it.
It means the LCD is bad. The Digitizer is what detects touch. Best bet is to replace the whole screen and digitizer assembly. It's not cheap, but it is easy to do.

This is the one that I got. It comes complete and looks like a factory original. All the markings match the ones from the broken one I took off mine. It's not cheap, but it is easy.
Mobiletechvideos also has a service for screen replacement.

My brand new pad has a pixel that won't show green...running one of the apps that says it fixes that... If it doesn't work, i'm going to see if I can get a replacement.
Just a warning to everyone. Be on the lookout.

I've got a dead pixel as well. Near the top left. Doesn't really bother me that much, so I don't really care. Surely one teeny little pixel doesn't warrant you returning it ...?

I used to think that. But if its been like, 3 Weeks and there's already one dead pixel... What does that say for the possibilities?
Just called Asus - he tried to get me to do a wipe.
Are you kidding me? wipe all my data? Asus - get rid of the spiel, its junk. Get ppl who know whats up on the phones ugh

My first pad had a dead pixel. I found it the second day and returned it as soon as I could. It was kind of in the middle of the screen, and I could see it every time I viewed a white web page. Needless to say, it bothered the heck out of me and had to be returned.
i went through 4 tabs until i got one that was fine display wise. first one had a cluster of discolored pixels, like someone pressed their thumb hard on the screen and damaged the area. the other two each had a couple grains of what looked like sand under the glass. All of these were around the same area on the tab, mid-lower left area of the screen.
Mines mid high right...
I'm worried about an attempted unlocking... I tried to unlock my tab before they fixed the c4okt issues, and im wondering if it might've sent them a file about that... Also wondering if unlocking will void it for a screen issue.

Dead and stuck pixels are far from unique to Asus. There is a difference by the way, a stuck pixel is one that is, well stuck displaying one color, these can sometimes be fixed by programs like you are running and/or gently massaging the area with a pencil eraser or something similar, dead pixels don't display any color and are rarely able to be fixed.

My dead pixel I guess just happens to be in a place where I rarely notice it. I tried one of those dead pixel detect and fix apps but it didn't fix anything.

There is one other thing you can try, VERY gently massage the dead pixel with a something like a pencil eraser, that will sometimes get it working.

That's fine and all... but there's a much thicker layer of glass over a capacitive screen than there is over a resistive touch screen... or just a LCD monitor.
Unless I'm missing something here, this advice does not apply anymore.

The screen will still flex. I am not sure whether it would work or not on these devices, I just put that out there hoping it might help.

Don't feel too bad. I just made the mistake of looking at an all black screen on my Acer a510.
NINE stuck pixels!
One little cluster made a shape exactly like the big dipper. Very artistic, with pretty multicolored stuck-pixel stars.
Needless to say I wasn't thrilled. So much for quality control. Sounds like Asus at least isn't this bad.
Hi
Has any one use this screen protector?
I was about to buy it buy i noticed it did not have a front sensor opening, it only has one for camera.
Problem is i bought one before that covered the sensor and once a call came in the screen would not turn back on when i finished the call.
So please if any one has some experience with this one please share with me your experience. Thanks
Here is a video review by ctscloud, thank him. link below.

If i remember correctly my last phone had one of those on it for a while, and it had that awful screen door effect. It wasn't really noticeable on color but when you had a white background it could really drive you nuts. I ended up peeling it off in the end because it got on my nerves so bad when looking at web pages.Spend the extra cash and get a quality one. (XOskins, Skinomi, BSE, etc)
What is a "screen door" effect?
I ordered an XtremeGuard but haven't received it yet.

But basically you can see like little squares in the phone screen like a screen door.
You see the fine line separating the pixels.

I bought a series of them, but they are the most disappointing screen protectors ever. I'm quite experienced in applying screen protectors and didn't have any trouble applying these protectors, but every single time the top left corner detached from the screen after ~2 weeks. Furthermore: the feel is extremely "plasticcy", and after removing the protectors I noticed that the screen gets a lot less responsive to touch when they're on.
My advice: stay away from the Xtreme guard protectors!
I just installed it last night. I don't like it. Finger don't slide smoothly, kind of sticking to the screen.
Fit is pretty good, and its matte finish. But I can't use it, feels no good.
i have no problems with mine. All of the cuts are perfect and it looks clean imo. I got the full coverage for 3 bucks during a special 70% off sale.
though they are cheap you don't get much but just the screens in the mail. (You get what you paid for)
what i did to install it was i had left over Zagg solution from a previous phone and applied it to the screen.
then i used a hair blow dryer while using a squeegee to remove all the water from under the screen.

I installed it last night. Just after installed, it got an incredible orange peel effect, however in the instructions it says to wait at least 8hs dry before turning the phone on. So I led it off all the night and this morning most of that effect disappeared. It still has some bubbles (not with air, I think is water, is what caused the orange peel effect before, just that now they are far from each other). So, I will wait until tomorrow to see if this disappear before writing a verdict. If these bubbles do not disappear, I'm afraid I'll have to remove it.
The responsiveness of the screen didn't change.
The plasticity fell I guess will also disappear when the remaining bubbles disappear.
I'll keep you posted.

I've used these xtremeguards on my previous phones because they were cheap but I was never satisfied with them...meh
Bought the body kit that gives sp for the front and back and after a week I decided to go back to skinomi.
Looks like everyone has had trouble with them. Ill wait for his verdict and make my decision... Any ways thanks every one.

I've had mine on my n4 for about a week now. You can't even tell that there's a screen protector on it just by looking. It basically looks perfect. However I will say that it definitely feels weird.

Just to keep you posted. After 24hs of having applied the protectors, the back one is almost perfect, with only 2 or 3 bubbles here and there, but they aren't too noticeable. The front protector have some more bubbles but definitely less than this morning.
The feeling is really plastic.
Overall, I think this will protect the screen, but it isn't good looking. I think I will keep it until I get the flip leather case that I ordered, then I will remove the front one (the one at the back doesn't bother me at all, so I'll keep that).
Will see, maybe for the time when I receive the case I already get used to it. :/

Hey All,
I was reading the user manual for the S4 (Link), and it said on page 8 "Do not use a screen protector. This causes sensor malfunctions".
If I didn't look online for the manual, I wouldn't have known this information, as I didn't get the manual with my phone. (Only the quick start guides).
What is everyone opinion on this?

I'd assume that it's because of the floating touch. Being an owner of the Note 2 (that has floating touch with the S-Pen) I can tell you that a screen protector doesn't affect my experience.
Now if the S4 uses a different way of capturing floating touch (because it doesn't have a stylus), this may be true. I suppose only time and testing will tell.

Get a screen protector and a case if you don't want to scratch your phone, that way you can sell it in an "excellent" condition. I had my GS3 for 8 months and it's still in pristine condition.
I have had a screen protector on since day one with no malfunctions. Also, you will notice that protectors designed for the S4 don't cover the sensors at the top of the phone.

It makes the floating touch slightly less sensitive (and accurate at longer distances), but other than that it's fine.
I have a screen protector on my s4 and have no issues
I also used screen protector from day 1, no problem.

I recently had my nexus 4 screen repaired on the replacement part there is a 90 day warranty that is still going on. However I have started to see small white dots that appear when the screen shows lighter colors. I did not see this before it was repaired. I brought it back and they said that it wasn't a problem with the LCD and didn't replace the piece. But it seems to have gotten worse and there are these dots in other places. Does anybody have any idea how this could be fixed or what the problem is? Thank you.

I had something similar happen. OLED screens can have this "bleeding" effect when dropped. Mine started off fine after a drop and progressed to unusable like that. I ordered a repair kit and a screen with frame and did the replacement myself. Just look on Amazon and make sure you get one that says it's made for our model: the frames are slightly different and the cable to connect the buttons near the bottom of the screen connects to a different place on the strip on the side. These words make more sense looking at the inside of the phone ;P
