Stuck/dead pixel! - Transformer TF300T General

My brand new pad has a pixel that won't show green...running one of the apps that says it fixes that... If it doesn't work, i'm going to see if I can get a replacement.
Just a warning to everyone. Be on the lookout.

I've got a dead pixel as well. Near the top left. Doesn't really bother me that much, so I don't really care. Surely one teeny little pixel doesn't warrant you returning it ...?

I used to think that. But if its been like, 3 Weeks and there's already one dead pixel... What does that say for the possibilities?
Just called Asus - he tried to get me to do a wipe.
Are you kidding me? wipe all my data? Asus - get rid of the spiel, its junk. Get ppl who know whats up on the phones ugh

My first pad had a dead pixel. I found it the second day and returned it as soon as I could. It was kind of in the middle of the screen, and I could see it every time I viewed a white web page. Needless to say, it bothered the heck out of me and had to be returned.

i went through 4 tabs until i got one that was fine display wise. first one had a cluster of discolored pixels, like someone pressed their thumb hard on the screen and damaged the area. the other two each had a couple grains of what looked like sand under the glass. All of these were around the same area on the tab, mid-lower left area of the screen.

Mines mid high right...
I'm worried about an attempted unlocking... I tried to unlock my tab before they fixed the c4okt issues, and im wondering if it might've sent them a file about that... Also wondering if unlocking will void it for a screen issue.

Dead and stuck pixels are far from unique to Asus. There is a difference by the way, a stuck pixel is one that is, well stuck displaying one color, these can sometimes be fixed by programs like you are running and/or gently massaging the area with a pencil eraser or something similar, dead pixels don't display any color and are rarely able to be fixed.

There is one other thing you can try, VERY gently massage the dead pixel with a something like a pencil eraser, that will sometimes get it working.

That's fine and all... but there's a much thicker layer of glass over a capacitive screen than there is over a resistive touch screen... or just a LCD monitor.
Unless I'm missing something here, this advice does not apply anymore.

Don't feel too bad. I just made the mistake of looking at an all black screen on my Acer a510.
NINE stuck pixels!
One little cluster made a shape exactly like the big dipper. Very artistic, with pretty multicolored stuck-pixel stars.
Needless to say I wasn't thrilled. So much for quality control. Sounds like Asus at least isn't this bad.

Glue/adhesive under screen?

So I got my transformer Monday and its great, however there is one very minor issue. If the screen is black and you tilt the pad at an angle, you can see what looks to be some kind of smudge or adhesive on the LCD panel under the glass. Like I said, this is very minor and you really need to be looking for it to even see it. I bought the transformer from best buy. With all the other issues, ie speakers and dead pixels and what not, do you guys even think its worth taking back and trying to get a replacement?

Hmm, this post is very helpful.. lol Good thing its relevent to the thread.
I have never seen the smudge you are talking about, can you take a picture of it?
Heh, but seriously, if it were me yes I'd swap it for a new one, just knowing it's there would annoy me.
I ended up swapping it. No dead/glue spot but there is light leaking from the corners on the left side and also from about half way down the left side as well. It isn't in my main viewing area so its not a big deal, and my favorite background is white so I don't really notice it, but is QC really that bad on these that this many units have issues still to this day?

Light Bleed is a common issue with tablets. Google "ipad light bleed" and you will get some interesting posts.
Also, aren't IPS displays known for a little light bleed anyways? Something that we have to live with, I guess.
I can deal with light bleed alot easier than a dead spot on my screen. Its easy enough to fix with a white based wallpaper. And luckily my favorite wallpaper is white based.

Also got one in the top left of the screen (aftewr having the phone for only 2 weeks!). Will be taking it in for exchange or repair shortly. It's so small the service center might have trouble seeing it but I know it is there and I find it very annoying! This is not a cheap phone and I expect it to be perfect as I plan to be using it for the next year or 2.

Mine has two dead spots , one in the middle one around second row of keyboard.but I guessI am keeping my own as I barely feel them,I don't know even next would be perfect but anyways still this is the best gadget I ever owned.

Dead pixels?

I have some dead pixels on my Nexus 7. I purchased it from Sam's Club and am embarrassed to exchange it over a couple dead pixels. The pixels aren't noticeable unless they are on a white screen.
Does anyone else have any dead pixels?
Does anyone know how to fix them?
UPDATE:
If you're experiencing dead pixels return the Nexus. I've just started experiencing some bad screen flicker. The second I get back from vacation I'm returning it.

I suspect with the gorilla glass, it would be difficult if not impossible to fix. Usually they can be fixed if you apply some direct pressure on the screen, but with the glass, I don't see how that's possible. I would just replace it, dead pixels bug my OCD!
I too would return it. In the one case where I did get a dead pixel on an LCD monitor on my desktop, I wasn't able to fix it, even with all of the applications out there that flash each pixel a hundred times a second or whatever... I've just dealt with it since I bought the monitor second hand dirt cheap. In the event of the tablet I'd likely opt to replace it.

Does the N7 even have Gorilla Glass?
I too purchased a Nexus 7 today (just happened to be from Sam's Club as well) and I have a single dead pixel (it's more grey than black though) in the bottom-middle part. It's only noticeable on white or grey backgrounds. I've been running various "dead pixel" transition screens found on YouTube for about 10 minutes so far to no avail. I haven't decided what I'm going to do as to returning it or not.
Dead pixels are a defect. You should have no qualms about returning it. The store will have no problems taking it back, believe me.
Especially if it came from Sam's since they probably have more units... at least my local Sam's Club does. No reason to settle for dead pixels if it bothers you.

I have four stuck pixels that light up blue when the screen is black. I'll probably be keeping it nevertheless as it doesn't have any other problems and the pixels aren't quite visible unless the screen is black.
Don't be embarrassed, you paid good money for this product and its not right. Take it back.

Agreed, they should be used to dead pixels, they sell TVs!
In addition to the dead pixel, I've noticed some random flashing in the middle of the screen. I'm not able to do anything in particular to reproduce it, but it's just very infrequent and random. It's only happened twice in the last 4 hours since unboxing it. Needless to say, I'll be returning for replacement tomorrow.

Well the Nexus is barely half the price of the new ipad. And the Galaxy SIII also costs more then twice as much if you don't buy it from a carrier. (or whatever it's called in the USA or Canada) So that's probably the reason the display isn't as good as those 2.

Nexus 7 Defects (Software or Hardware)

Well as many of you posted you had flawless Nexus I pulled the trigger but for my horror I got a Lemon.
First I thought I had only the screen lift but after two weeks It have started to develop Screen Flicker and the slightest screen bleed in the right corner... a black pixel line when I open a hard task or its charging something.... the screen not responding and the ghosting :banghead: to my other horror I can't return it cause my father bought it to me and I'm in Mexico so no return but I wanted to know what are Software related and what are hardware related

So the Screen Separation is Hardware as the Screen Bleed
But the flicker, the sudden line that I just see like one a day and the ghosting that goes away with a reboot are all hardware?! The HTC titan had the ghosting too and with an update it went away

Well actually the screen flicker can be fixed by running a script. Look for the thread that says screen washout out fix. It will disable the nvidia smart dimmer. And the screen lift can be fixed' Google it . And not sure what the this "ghosting" is.

Well first I don't know if when going from homescreen to homescreen and seeing the icons going from side to side it looks like it leaves a trace behind that disappears after a couple of milliseconds and I don't know if its just an animation or ghosting.....and second is after being in my social homescreen the white parts stay onscreen in the background until I reboot but that only happened once and never again

IIRC you used the clamp and heat method to try and reactivate the glue. Best of luck, but that approach has been temporary for most users.
And you telling him to Google it would almost certainly lead to him fiddling with the screws, which is even less effective than the clamping.
Here is the only fix known to work. It's a delicate procedure and I wouldn't recommend it unless your lift is severe, GalaxyDev.
Sorry for your troubles, but hopefully you can see past these flaws and enjoy the tablet as is. I'm sure this device is a rare sight in Mexico.
The only reason why I considered that is because my screen lift is so minor, its like a hair lifted so my guess is the adhesive needs rebonding.

White pixel.

I posted last night that there is this really small white dot on my screen. It only visible on light colors like white . But its not visible if the color is really dark. Like on you tube where the search option is it not visible but when i go to Facebook i can see right next to my notification but its small. Anyways is there a way for it to go away? This phone is only like a day old :/ & it was bigger last night but it got smaller because i played a video that repeated blue red and green fast because i heard it make stuck pixel go back to normal.
Also is it a dead pixel or stuck?

I just saw a white pixel on the middle of the screen but I can only appreciate it at dark, when screen is black and brightness set to maximum (which I never have on dark environment). Was that an issue for you? I really have to look for it for a while in any other case. Pixels are sooo small. Don't even bother to rma. No other issue with the phone.
I'm thinking it's just a pixel stuck in a grey colour because it so difficult to see.
