Auto Awesome Movies are only available on select devices running 4.3 or higher and have the latest G+ app. In other words it only really works for like 5 total phones, ours not one of them.

Sorry for digging up that old thread.
But I tried to get this feature working on CM11 (4.4.2), but the Google Photos app does not even enable auto awesome movies (or video editing per se) now.
So the Google Photos app obviously does not only check the Android version, but also checks on a device level - which is sad. I love that feature on my Nexus devices. Would love to use the raw power of the Snapdragon800 as well though!
Is there some mod to the photos app to make it think it's on a Nexus5?

Works for me in skimkat

@ joe12401 and Mytwuk: Do you really have the edit video button on top? (Where you can select which song to use, what length of the video and what visual style the video should have?)
Or do you mean the automatically edited videos by Google when you upload your raw vids?
thx for clarifying!
btw, I am working on a workaround tonight...

Google photos app takes your photos and videos and automatically edits them with their own photo editing software.

That is true. But you may also edit it yourself within Google Photos on select devices.

Well my bad I only have the auto awesome clips that automatically show up I did not even know there was a manual awesome! Gotta love all the stuff you can learn hanging out here.

reporting back...a little late, I know. I had to test some lines to make sure.
Tested OK on CM11 based ROMs we can trick Google+ Photos to believe the G2 is a Nexus5:
<Step 1> in system/build.prop
change the line 28 to
Code:
ro.product.device=hammerhead
<Step 2> in settings > Apps > delete all data of the Goggle+ app
<Step 3> restart G+ Photos app; You should now have to new Clapperboard symbol together with the ability to edit your auto awesome clip yourself. Enjoy!
I prefer to edit the build.prop on my desktop computer before flashing a new ROM. You can do it also on the fly with special tools on the G2. But I advise to do it on bigger screens not in the live running ROM.

I tried to do that but it didn't work...oh well, still thank you very much for Tut!
Edit: Never mind, a simple Reboot fixed that haha

Auto Awesome Movie Editor working with Stock Rom LG G2 D802 (rooted)
I followed the steps above using Stock Rom 4.4.2 rooted; with TWRP Recovery.
Everything worked fine! Thanks for this hint.
In order to get this working I had to install
1. Busybox
2. a build.prop editor from the Store as my ES Explorer did not let me type a longer word than "G2" ?!
3. followed your instructions above
4. reboot
Enjoy

There is one, by pan_ataman.
Personally, I still don't like text over image. It's hard to read. If possible, I would prefer 480x480 and smaller those buttons and make text in that area. Don't know how to do it myself though

See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1148708 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31041722&postcount=2396
Found the right version #: 2.9.0.315

The portrait video chats are sort of strange using the Play Store version with Ultimate Rotation Control. The pane on the left takes lots of room, resulting in an image cropped on the left and right sides.

A free app called Screen Rotation Control does the job. After loading a small menu pops up. I selected auto. Now Skype turns automatically to landscape or portrait.

Yes, but see my most recent post. The portrait chat display is incredibly awkward. The sidebar results in cropping the left and right sides of the received image, resulting in a narrow video chat. I can't seem to find a way to hide the sidebar.

Glass on ANY ANDROID DEVICE! [4.1+ Recommended]

Yo Guys.
This is a tutorial through which YOU can have the Glass UI on ANY ANDROID DEVICE. This is the proper UI that you would find on Glass. Basically we are going to download and install some MODIFIED Glass so that we could use it on an Android phone. I haven't modified the apps. I am just telling you how to use them.
Now first of all the things you need -
Android device which run 4.0 or higher. However 4.1 higher is recommended as that has the updated voice controls.
A Bluetooth keyboard. This would be used to navigate. The touchscreen doesn't work in the UI.
So let's do this -
1 - Get the Stuff.
Go to https://github.com/zhuowei/Xenologer as click on "ZIP" which is besides "CLONE TO WINDOWS". This would give you the modded apps. You can read the dev's readme to see what he has modified. Then go to http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/0...em-dumps-please-do-something-cool-with-these/ and download the system dump. From here, using WinRAR/7ZIP got to the system/app and extract all the files which have the suffix "Glass" to them. Refer the diagram below.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
2 - Installing.
Copy all the apps that we downloaded and put them on your phone. Then install the apps. The first app that you would install SHOULD BE GLASS-HOME!!!! For the rest, the order doesn't matter.
3 - Finale.
After installing all apps, hit home and choose - Glass-settings and choose "just once". If you choose "always" then you would be screwed. Now you using the keyboard control the glass ui. -
ARROW KEY = SWIPE RIGHT/LEFT
ENTER = TAP
ESC = GO HOME.
If at any time you want to turn back, simply press the home button, choose your launcher and you are done. For more info watch the dev's video :
Thanks for posting this tutorial, however I would remove that file list from Ron's dump as most of that stuff will break it.
DO NOT INSTALL frameworkstubs.apk glasshome.apk glasssetup.apk glasscamera.apk or glasssystemui.apk everything else is fine to bring over from the dump file but those listed ones must not be installed from the dump.
I recommend watching my video so you do it correctly, and if you want to help or have some ideas as to why things are not working let me know.
Well the video doesn't seem to be working atm.

This is extremely cool. Installed it on my Nexus 4. It keeps telling me there is something wrong with my network connection. Will try to test all of the functions soon . Talking to it works fine!
I forgot to add my wifi network and of course can't capture the QR, so I can't search Google, yet the timeline updates go through :silly:. But it works great on my phone anyway.
I'm making a new tutorial video tonight that highlights some new features and some bug fixes!

No facial recognition on glass - Could have been a great feature
I wrote a little app which acts like an invisible keyboard that allows to navigate through glass using the volume buttons and simulate the enter key using the menu button or a long press on back, instead of having to use an external keyboard.
The app is open source, you can grab the code on my github : http://github.com/Androguide/GLASSInput
The apk's direct link : https://github.com/Androguide/GLASSInput/blob/master/GlassInput.apk?raw=true

[Q] System App / S-Pen for cutting things out ?

Hey, I debloated @_alexndr ROM by myself and now after a few days I realize one thing:
I can't use this handy little feature to press on the S-Pen and cut out what's interesting for me, so I can
share it.
Basically what is working:
The cutting out animation is working BUT the window with all the options to customize and share is missing.
I think there's a system App I deleted which is supposed to deal with this.

That's exactly what I was talking about !
Is there any way to make a txt file by the device itself, so you don't have to type out all the apk's ?
Or can you just make a few screenshots of your system/app & system/pirv-app folder ?
As an alternative you could make a screenrecord and put it on youtube (or whatever).

Completely forgot i can just list them in terminal. I probably havent uploaded them in the right order. But here you go, also i have renamed some of them. But its fairly easy to guess what they where before. Got some extra apps in there too. Like the video editor, sketchbook, city maps. Just for an example.
Hope this helps!

Well, here I am again.
Unfortunaly I can't figure out what app or apps are missing on my device.
With the pictures given me by @celderic I compared my apps with his.
There were a few apps which I was missing which I put back to system/app or system/priv-app.
Sadly no changes !
So I checked all apps which I would combine with this feature and opened up the apk's to search for evidence.
As far as I can tell, PhotoRetouching_FHD_H.apk is responsible for what I'm looking for.
Funny thing is, I had this all the time on my phone so why does it not work ?
I can't tell and I can't think of anything I can do more, so basically this is a dead end unless someone wants to help out.

Guys go to the link I posted on the first page (2nd post of this thread). That's the source of this app. It belongs to Team BlackOut. If you want to follow the actual development of this app, and not report bugs to some random person just sharing the app who hasn't replied back to this thread once, go there. There's probably newer versions since this OP posted this anyways.
