Can't enter recovery..stuck on Samsung Logo (4.3) - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey guys, i hope someone can help me with this problem.
Problem:
1. flashed cobra ROM coming from Crash (4.3). Wiped EVERYTHING as instructed & reboot.
2. phone stuck in bootloop for 20 mins ( Samsung logo). So i tried to enter recovery to flash it again.
3. failing to enter recovery CWM 6.0.4.4 by press keys (Power+Vol UP)
>> phone goes blank for a second & then comes back to S4 logo & finally bootloops on Samaung logo
Do I have to flash everything from scratch?
( Odin >> Pit >> Factory image >> Custom recovery )

Odin flash official stock rom but don't flash any PIT files.
The PIT file is the partition information tables and if there
was anything wrong with that file the phone would be dead.
It would be a hard brick and have a blank black screen.

thanks
downloading the official firmware & will flash the stock ROM
Hope everything goes back to normal.
>> how can i be sure that the PIT isn't already corrupted?
>> why isn't the phone booting into CWM recovery ?

Are you sure that you are holding the Vol up key + home key long enough. For me i have to hold all 3 until i get the i9500 screen then hold vol up and home until i get the recovery load up.

ok i flashed the stock firmware & am able to boot phone on stock 4.3
PROBLEM:
1. go to Odin
2. flash CWM 6.0.4.4 >> flash successful>>PASS>>RESET
>>The phone STILL refuses to boot into recovery.
when i hold all the 3 buttons (Power+Vol UP+Home), the phone just keeps blinking on the Galaxy S4 Logo.
If I leave the buttons, it does a normal boot.
Q. Is there another method to go into recovery?
Am I missing something Here??

Try a different Odin version. Try 1.85 and make sure auto-reboot is not selected.

FINALLY!!

I re-did the entire procedure & it works.
Followed tutorial on Cobra ROMs page by S.a.M.e.R_d
1. Re-flash pit file>>adonis.pit
2. flash factory firmware>>I9500XXUEMJ9_I9500ODDEMJ5_INU
3. let it boot
4. flash custom recovery through Odin >> GT-I9500-CWM-6.0.4.5
5. Press & hold (Power+vol UP+ home)>> Enter recovery
The procedure was similar to what i had done earlier, except for flashing the pit file again.
Did the Trick.

EDIT: How to use ODIN -> HERE
Tryvthis first:
Boot to recovery by pressing VOLUME UP + POWER.
when you see blue writing in top left corner release the power button but keep holding volume up until you're in recovery.
P.S The Home button is not needed on i9505 to boot to recovery or download modes.

This worked, and phone booted in recovery mode (not touch that was previously installed), wiped data/factor reset however phone is still not booting. I think phone has no rom manager installed, how can I proceed to install rom manager and flash stock rom or root it again?

[Q] (i9500) I flashed the leak of Lollipop and can't initiate in recovery mode

Hi, I flashed this monday the leak of Lollipop for Samsung Galaxy S4 (9500) and after I followed all the steps one by one I'm the only one in earth that isn't able to start the phone in the recovery mode. For this reason I can't flash gapps. I am not able to downgrade even because for the KNOX.
Someone has the same problem? Can anyone figured out how to enter in recovery mode?
P.D: I have attempted to do it with the buttons (vol down + pow + home) and with adb and the usb connected to the phone. Anyone was the solution.

after flashing Rom with Odin you have to flash openrecovery-twrp-2.8.4.0-klte.tar
Installing Recovery and rooting steps :
1- download twrp from here
2- go to flash mode
3- run Odin load file as AP then click start
4- go to recovery by powering off your device and hold volume up + home + power button
5- when you want to reboot to system Twrp will ask you to install SuperSU (rooting your device)
6- swipe to confirm
More info here

I did all of this, still can't to initiate in recovery mode.
i had the same problem, try downloading philz (philz_touch_6.48.4-i9500) or twrp recovery (openrecovery-twrp-2.8.4.0-i9500) and install via odin (AP box)
I didn't try the above i just installed the rom again, doing this:
- only the AP file
- uncheck "auto reboot"
- After the process finishes dont reboot the phone to tw, just go to the recovery mode and the wipe cache/data
- Install philz or twrp via odin

So, flash the ROM again with nothing more than the AP box fullfiled and then, when it finishes hold (vol up + power + home). Wipe cache, restart and flash custom recovery.
Am I right?

It can not, because in the first flash has deleted the modem, bootloader, csc and others, so if flashing only AP will not operate the phone, only the PDA.
And masicen these questions have to do in the same thread firmware also behold the solution.
Flashes the firmware again, to start turn it off and go into Recovery by: Volume Up + Home + Power in this order and holding down until you see the Samsung logo there S4 loose and enter the stock recovery, do wipes and restart it, then download Philz Touch in its latest version and flash it with Odin and restart turn it off and try to enter the recovery now.-

S4 i9505 stuck at Samsung logo-can't access to recovery boot

Bought an Australian model galaxy S4 off ebay which was stuck at Samsung Logo with a hope I can unbrick it.
I have tried to flash with an official firmware twice. ODIN confirmed flashing Passed. But the phone still could not boot pass Samsung logo with model number.
+ Pressed volume up + Home + power button to enter into recovery mode but the phone still stuck at recovery mode with blue text "recovery booting ". Have tried to take battery out and redo few times. . All I can do is go to download mode to flash official firmware again. However I do not want to mess thing up as I have tried twice without success.
Please help me out if you have any idea how to fix it. I am much appreciate.
I am not sure if it will help or not but you can try flashing TWRP via Odin and then boot into that one (maybe recovery is corrupted as well?)
Clear cache / dalvik cache from TWRP and try booting to system again

Good idea of @th3cr0w.
I will add: It's important know what firmware had before you start to flash things. I supose you don't know it. What you can do is:
1. Flash TWRP recovery in DOWNLOAD MODE via ODIN unticking "Auto reboot". Take out the battery when the process finish. Wait 30 sec. and push it in again.
2. Boot in TWRP and wipe all (Wipe -> Advanced Wipe -> Select system, data, cache and dalvik cache).
3. Reboot in DOWNLOAD MODE and now yes, flash the firmware you wish via ODIN normally.
Same happens with my Galaxy s3 while ago, Problem was the EMMC chip was corrupted, And the problem was solved after replacing it from a local shop.

Thanks for your and TH3cr0w's suggestion. I will try it tonight and let you guys know. Hope I will fix it. A quick question before I do, once I install TWRP it is anyway I can remove it and reinstall official receovery?
I am using this firmware:
PDA I9505XXUGNH6
CSC I9505XSAGNH1
i have tried to install TWRP with this file twrp-2.8.6.0-jfltexx.tar 9.9M. However my phone still stuck and can not boot into recovery. up the top of screen i have following messages:
Recovery booting...
RECOVERY IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING
Set Warranty Bit : recovery
Have i done anything wrong? Thanks
What you're seeing is normal, but recovery not installing isn't. I know you don't want to try it again, but flash your stock ROM through Odin. Do it this time with the following changes:
Add a PIT file (easily found on the forum).
Make sure "Re-partition" is selected.
The combination of the PIT file and the re-partition function should wipe the S4's internal storage and partition it properly. If there is no physical damage to the internal storage you should then be able to boot into the device. Otherwise you may have no choice but to have this beast repaired.

pleas help

To flash TWRP Recovery:
1. Turn off phone
2. Bring the phone to Download Mode (power button + vol up + home)
3. Connect phone to computer and open up Odin
4. Click on AP or PDA and select your .tar file (this is the twrp recovery file)
5. Click Start and once done your phone will reboot into TWRP
If your phone does not boot into TWRP automatically:
a) repeat steps 1-4
b) click on options tab (in Odin) and uncheck everything except "F. Reset Time"
c) click Start
d) once done, disconnect your phone and take out your battery
e) bring the phone to Download Mode (power button + vol up + home)
f) your phone should then boot into TWRP

S5 G900I Recovery Bootloop - Cannot get into any recovery mode?

Hi All,
Got a S5 G900I here that's doing my head in! Stuck in the infamous bootloop at the Samsung logo.
I have been a long time reader of these forums and have prior experience from flashing Samsung phones but this one is driving me mad!
I can put the phone into Download mode without an issue, phone is detected in Odin and I can flash any firmware I try to it (Have tried original 4.4.2 , 5.0 and latest 6.0.1 firmwares from SamMobile). Odin goes through the entire process, reports as "Pass" but then the device goes straight back into the reboot loop and will never fully boot up.
I can also use Odin to push TWRP / CWM / PhilzTouch recoveries, however the device will never boot into the recovery partition. I get the blue "Recovery Booting" message briefly, then the device bootloops again.
Does anyone have any further suggestions to try and get this phone operational again?
I have tried multiple versions of Odin, multiple firmware versions, different computers, different USB cables, different USB ports etc.
I look forward to hearing back from you
Try this :
1. Make sure flash latest recovery with latest ODIN version. Check the official website.
2. Do not let your phone restart after flash recovery with ODIN. Un-check auto reboot on option tab in ODIN. After PASS flash recovery disconnect USB cable then ummm ... I do not know what about your phone .. Mine G900D, I just just pull the battery then I plug it again lol ..: D
3. It should be able to get into recovery after that. If not, it means the recovery type does not match your phone.

It is important to turn off the phone right after flash recovery on the download screen. I mean really off rather than reboot. unplug the battery do not turn off with the power button. Because when rebooted, recovery will automatically return to stock .. so the recovery you just installed will be erased again. if stock recovery inside is broken you will get bootloop. if it is done and still can not enter recovery .. huum .. I am afraid if it's a hardware problem .. because it's easier to find a suitable recovery than its firmware. if recovery can not be in flash .... it's a long way to go ..
By the way, sorry for ask .. you release the power button when it says "recovery booting" with blue text.. right ..? while continuing to hold the volume up..?

Thanks for the quick reply.
Yes when I am booting into recovery mode and can see the blue text "Recovery Booting" in the corner of the screen I let go of the power button - device still boot loops.
Have flashed recovery then removed battery - still cannot get it into recovery.
I have seen some Samsungs have hardware issues with their NAND chips but in these cases there are a lot of errors relating to NAND displayed on the screen when I've seen it be a hardware issue. None of these appear on this phone - convinced it has something to do with software.
I found these threads - exactly the same issue as me, and at the end it says they fixed it by flashing a specific bootloader however I have a G900I and the phone in this thread was a G900F
