Has anyone had issues casting Google Play Music with the LG G2?
I have a Verizon LG G2 and can connect and start casting music just fine, but about 20 seconds after the phones screen goes off the music stops. My Nexus 10 has no problems, as did my GS3.
I've searched the web far and wide for solutions with no luck and even asked Google themselves for help but they were useless. Any suggestions?
PS: Not using any battery saving settings or task killers.

Just tried it out on mine as well and had the same problem. Bummer
Posted this same question on Reddit and user bradlove17 came up with a solution...
Basically, you download an app called "REGPON wifi KeepAlive" and you'll be good to go! Seems like the problem is Wifi not staying on when the screen is off despite what you have set in Wifi settings. This definitely solves the problem.

Problem: If I leave my Q idle overnight (I only use it mornings) I have to reboot it in order to play music on it.
Details: I'm controlling it with a Nexus 7. The N7 will see the reboot happen "Lost connection with Nexus Q" so I don't think it's a connectivity issue. I did notice that for whatever reason you have to be on the same wireless frequency as the Q to control it. My N4 and N10 are on 5Ghz and they can't talk to it at all. I'm using a Netgear R6300. The N7 reports "Unable to play requested stream." when I try to use the Q.
I called Google about it and no one at the support center even knew what it was. "I know you said it's a Nexus Q, but what *is* it? What does it look like? ... Everyone is huddled around my desk trying to figure out what this thing is! ... Have you tried calling the manufacturer?"
Look two threads below you. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2185112
Its being looked at by Google. We can only hope it gets fixed.

I'd read that thread and it didn't seem like the same thing to me. As long as I keep my Q playing it keeps working.

You tried factory data reset? I used to have that problem. Now that I think about it after re imaging after trying cm10 I haven't had it happen.
I've tried both the "GUI" version (telling the N7 to factory reset it) and the manual hold the button down version and neither has fixed it.
Hello all. So I use my Nexus 4 as an internet device. I've been doing this for about a month, but today, my N4 is unresponsive on the internet. My WiFi is working, I can connect with my N5, N7 and my PC. Certain websites will eventually load, but not all. And some that load will display a blank screen with the website address in the address bar. I have rebooted several times. I toggled WiFi on/off. But it still will not load. Will this require a manufacturer reset? Thanks for any advice.

Google play is also unresponsive. The loading circle just spins. Earlier there was an app trying to update, got to 90% then stopped. It eventually did update though.

I want to confirm if there is something wrong with your radio signal. Maybe it isnt just your wifi.

I believe you were spot on about that. I tried calling and SMS, all worked but still no WiFi activity. I did as you suggested and so far it worked. Thank you. Its just odd how all of my devices worked on my WiFi, but not my N4. Odd.

no problem
Hello,
I originally posted this in the Pure Nexus Project thread because I thought it might have had something to do with the rom, however, I don't think that's the case judging from the other replies. I still haven't found the solution, so I figured I should try posting it here:
Anyone having issues with the phone randomly freezing when playing music? Actually, i'm not sure if it applies to all music apps, but for me, it happens when using Spotify. Really random too. Sometimes I go days without freezing, whereas other days, it's just constantly freezing one after another.
I do have V4A installed and maybe it's due to that. Anyone else have this problem and can confirm that it is V4A? or even Spotify?

One user stated that disabling battery optimization for the app in the battery settings fixed it for him. I tried this, but still get the random freezes. Has anyone possibly found out what's causing the issue and if there is a workaround? Thanks in advance :good:
The twitch app will stop streaming after a minute or so. The problem pertains in other apps as well as in chrome. Found a thread on reddit (can't post link because just registered)
there AT&T sent an update and that solved the issue. I am in Europe and my phone is from another EU state. Is there any fix for me? I believe this is a wifi issue as this doesn't happen when on LTE/3G. I haven't received any updates since I got the phone a week ago. Netflix seems to be working fine.
Any insight? This is definitely a wifi problem, since twitch streams just fine over 3/4G. It is most likely related to other numerous wifi problems that the s7/edge have. If so why is it that cell providers in america released fixes and oem phones didn't receive any updates so far? Have samsung released any statements on the matter?
Its kind of a big deal for me.

You dont happen to use a Adblocker that works only on wifi? I have noticed some "streaming" does not work very good with a wifi-adblock.

Nope. This problem is exclusive to s7/s7 edge. There's a couple other threads like this around the web, as well as many other that report wifi issues.
I have the exact same problem. I'm living in Norway (europe) and no fixes from my provider yet. I even returned my phone and got a brand new one today, but the new phone has the exact same buffering issues after watching twitch for 5-10 minutes. What I also noticed is that when the buffering starts, the Internet doesn't work in other apps also. Have to disable and re enable the WiFi. Really hoping to see some genius figure this thing out cause it's 100% an issue with the phone/software for galaxy s7 edge. I had the phone on service 3 times before they finally gave me a new one. What they did was factory reset (which I also did), change WiFi antenna, changed the whole motherboard. Nothing fixed the issue.

Yes, this is exactly how it goes down. Soon as the buffering starts some other apps (neflix, instagram) also don't seem to be working. Normally, I wouldn't reconnect to wifi, but just wait for a minute or two instead.
Now, I've been travelling a lot lately and I noticed that the problem doesn't occur everywhere. Once I was even able to watch twitch for 3-4 days without any interruptions, some other places I was not able to watch it at all, but that was mostly due to ips. So, I suppose it could be a router/ap incompatibility issue, which seems pretty strange as the problem only appears in twitch. What I've also noticed is that if you set quality to high rather than source you can go on for much longer without buffering.
I've received 2 updates (from samsung i guess) since I started this thread. First update about a month ago (some 350mb) didn't fix anything. Second (19 mb) just yesterday, haven't had the time to check properly yet.
The only more or less real solution thaat I found so far is outing the stream to VLC with the TC viewer app (I'd tried doing the similar procedure with mx player and other twitch apps with no success). And if you do that you can even notice where the buffering is supposed to occur, but instead vlc just stops video for a second and continues streaming like nothing hapenned.
So far this whole thing is a mystery to me, but connectivity issues are pretty common with the s7/edge. For example randomly dropping mobile data for prolonged periods of time (~30 minutes) hapenned to both me and a friend.
Ps. Ever since i got this phone i started spending less and less time on watching streams, which I am pretty happy about lol
Hey thanks for sharing your workarounds. I will have to check that out. Yes it might be a router compatibility issue. But then what causes it? It's definitely the g7 edge that doesn't work cause I've had 5 or 6 different phones working flawlessly on my router. It's so weird that this is not a huge problem, only like 3 guys posting they have some issues
I am having the same issue. I dont stream often but i use twitch when i do. Problem is not my wifi. My note 3 did not have any issues. Once i started using the 7 edge is when my buffering issues began.
I have used different devices to watch the stream and they work fine. Is there a download that that i need to do? Or should i take my phone to Sprint?

Sounds good so far, I am told they believe it's a connection issue and will "investigate". Maybe we'll get a software update.. I don't know.
I'll reply here when they do.

No good news from me, they eventually just gave up and told me they won't look any further into it since it's a "third party app" despite the problem existing even when using the browser.
Will try your dns fix.
EDIT: DNS didnt do it for me.
This may be a bug that lies very deep in samsung software/hardware, I broke my phone and had to switch to 2013 Note 8 temporarily, and it has a very similar issue - 1080 streams stream for just about 1 second and then stop, sound keeps on streaming. Streams with resolution below 1080 stream just fine though.

I haven't seen smart pause.. Smart stay and everything else I checked out and it's not causing the problem. I'm hoping it's not a hardware a problem. I'm going to reflash a different rom and see where it gets me.

Hmm.. Not sure. All I wanna do is try to reflash rom but that takes a lot of backing up just when everything else is perfect.
Yea thats true. My gallery just started acting up too where half my pics appear to be half grayed out by a vertical bar.
Considering a reflash but to lazy to back up and ensure everything is backed up. Dont wanna miss nothing.

Type of pause?
How long is pause?
Is it clipping?
Is it at a high volume?
Do you have any type of mono or Bluetooth apps installed?
Are you using WIFI or mobile connection for streaning?
Does it occur at certain locations or everywhere?
*Do you use OK GOOGLE or any similar Voice activated apps?
*Check your NOTIFICATIONS! Try changing SOUND NOTIFICATIONS to VIBRATE for all apps by going into sounds & notif in settings.. Change MODE to vibrate.
*Also try playing in AIRPLANE mode & do not disturb
*Does it occur when streaming to a tv or media device?
With these questions we can rule out various "connectivity" issues or interference as WELL as apps fighting for control over speaker or microphone, for notifications etc. As there are many
You should find the cause as with almost all media streaming apps most have options to go into a do not disturb mode as other apps utilize the same reaources resulting in conflicts like you described! After changing to VIBRATE notification mode and/or AIRPLANE mode, it becomes just a matter of narrowing down offending app.. Until then it will work at least!
HOPE THIS HELPS! There r days I need help! too
I had same problem and ı thought this problem can be related to an app ı installed. And it was. When i uninstalled Sputnik news. My problem had gone. If u have it, uninstal. If u dont have, may be one of other app causes. Try uninstalling each app, and find the app causes this problem
