[Q] Random flashing white pixel - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. I have this random flashing white pixel issue on my note 3 during gaming. This does not happen in normal usage. This happened when i play dead trigger 2 and some other games. The flashing happens in dark areas. Is this a gpu problem or is this a problem with the apps? Thanks.

[Q] Ghosting?

Hi
I got my Xperia Play a few days ago, I noticed some ghosting playing the bruce lee game but I thought perhaps it was some motion effect, however when in the menu black icons like iplayer and bruce lee icon have some ghosting behaviour too. I'm wondering if this is normal? I haven't heard anyone mention it before, I found 1 reference on google I think, perhaps I got a bad screen?
I have a UK unlocked 2.3.2 phone.
Thanks
Your phone is haunted.
...
Try somehow uninstalling Bruce Lee from the SD CARD (root maybe require) and reinstalling it, that will make it up dated

Mine has ghosting as well.. but I don't notice it in regular gaming or videos, just when I move around widgets or the app screens.
I havent noticed any ghosting, i use quite a dark theme though, so maybe it's just something i havent noticed.
There is ghosting, which is a lcd refresh rate thing. All lcd's have this ghosting, to varying degrees. AMOLED screens however aren't affected by this, so going from an amoled to an lcd makes it more noticeable.

[Q] "banding" screen issue

Hi everyone, i bought this phone ~1 week ago.
Everything works fine and i'm pretty happy with it(even if i'd like some more smoothness coming from such high specs).
The main issue i met is the "banding" problem, i read a bit on the internet and it looks like it's a software problem(it has something to do with colors depth).
What i'd like to know is if it's normal having "banding" problems of this entity and so frequently(it happens in almost any gradient displayed on the screen even on apps).
The other strange thing is that on my browser(stock one) sometimes the image changes for 0.5 secs every 2-3 secs and the banding issue doesn't show but it has some other "definition" issue as you will notice from the screenshots below.
Screenshot 1: banding issue(it happens all the time, even with apps' gradients; is it normal?).
Screenshot 2: banding issue almost gone but the image is not as defined as it should(it happens sometimes for 0.5 secs every 3 secs or so).
Does this come from a software problem or an hardware one? Do you have the same issue?
I'm using rocket rom v10.
Thanks
Ops... it looks like my thread belongs to the Q&A section.
May a moderator please move it?
I think this might be a software issue which I have experienced with MIUI on my old HD2. I'm using 2.3.6 stock rom right now and doesn't seem to have this problem
The banding issue is there since the Galaxy S1 days, Did any of the custom ROMs really fiix this issue?
Desire HD also had this problem in its early days. Mine got fixed when i flashed MIUI (2.3.7)

Graphical artifacts possibly GPU damage

Hi everyone, this is my first thread on XDA. Now that we have the pleasantries out of the way ... straight to the point. I just bought a Nexus 7 2nd edition/2013. Being the power user that I am (still haven't rooted it xD ) started trying out some emulators as a test, namely ppsspp and dolphin for android. Both of those are in development and highly unstable.
It's worth to mention that my first day of use was flawless. Here it comes ... BUT ... after messing around with dolphin I managed to well simply crash the OS. The tablet completely shut down, probably to prevent damage (e.g. bluescreen style). When I switched it back on everything seemed fine, until I played a video and I noticed that blacks/browns were pixelated (like artifacts). I installed the video game Magic 2014 and I'm unsure if I noticed it before or if it happened just now but during the intro I get the same issue with blacks - highly pixelated, and one of the images has 3 or 4 lines. In game performance is smooth and absolutely no issues.
The ppsspp and dolphin emulators both have options which push the CPU/GPU and memorry quite a lot. The tablet however hasn't been heating up at all.
What do you think ? Have I damaged my 3 day old nexus baby's GPU ? Or is it a software - driver issue ? Maybe something else
Help me oh great xda crowd
Have you tried to a factory reset to see if there is a difference?

That was the first thing I did sadly same artifacts in Magic 2014. I'm considering sending it back for a replacement.

black blinking in camera, new device.

Hi, how are you doing?
I bought a mi a1 (red edition, 32 gb) and i'm experiencing two issues:
The one i'm most concerned is that, when using the camera (And sometimes playing videos on chrome) i get these flashes, like black bars, exactly as this video shows:
Can't post links, the youtube title is "Xiaomi Mi A1 Oreo bug: Camera black flickering/blinking"
I've already factory reseted my phone, i don't know if this is a common software issue or if it's a hardware one.
The other issue is that i have an stuck pixel, it's annoying but i don't think it can be fixed, sadly.
The phone right now is clean, stock launcher, no root, nothing (Never rooted)
Thanks, looking forward to your answers.
Hi, i had the same problem until March update, where i'm sure at 100% that it has been solved.
What firmware version are you running?
I'm using the April firmware, it mostly happen when the colors suddenly change, like changing the exposition in the camera or playing a video in a white background (for example, i play a game that the ads are full white and there is a video playing in the top, in that scenario the black flashes appear.)
Side question, is there a 32GB variant? Official only list 64GB only
I thought the same, apparently there is
I have the 64GB version and I have the same problem.
I have the same bug (red, 64 gb), using stock april

Jelly effect while scrolling

N986u1 unlocked version bought directly from samsung and I'm having a jelly like effect on black and darker colors while scrolling. However if I increase the brightness it goes away. Is anyone else noticing this?
in all apps or just some?
Wasn't that one of the display issues reported on Snapdragon variants on dark colors while at low brightness? Search for the "green tint display bug" and see if it's similar...
Sent from nowhere over the air...
I searched for the issue. There's no jelly effect mentioned and I'm not having the green tint effect at all. Just jelly at low brightness
I am having that issue too, but only when dark mode is one. So I just turned off dark mode for now. Seems to fix it, although there still is some effect when scrolling, its not as bad with the dark mode turned on.
Try disabling animations completely in Developer Options?
That's one of the first things I do anyway.

Did you restore a backup from another phone to your Note Ultra? If so a FDR should fix the issue. A lot of issues are being reported as bugs and they simply restored data from an old phone to the Note 20, not a good practice at all. Your new Note 20 should be set up from scratch.
Are you sure it's not oled black smearing? Can you record the issue you are having?
I get it on my Google feed quite often
