It is a common problem with the S4 that is caused by seeking help without giving even a remote indication of what the problem is. Kills the battery every time.
Seriously, you have to help us out and give details on what is wrong. We will be glad to help, even if you are a Steelers fan

And remember..a bird in the bush is worth two in the hand.
I'm srry guys for not giving you any information. The problem is a connection issue. Ever since I got my Hyperion 7500 mah battery. The battery life is phenomenal. 2-3 days at least. But my WiFi keeps getting disconnected every 5 minutes and then reconnecting to the network. And even my mobile data connection had been crap to. So I am reaching to u guys to see if you can help me out. I don't want to send the thing back. I want to know if I can fix first before I do that.

I don't see how a battery is affecting your wifi connection.. Maybe try your original battery and see if you get similar results?

is that even possible?

Well that's why I was asking u guys. I doesn't do it with my regular battery. It also blocks cell sevice which is weird....

Hot extend bat.
I don't have that trouble however, when i connect extend bat with my phone, my extend bat is overheat. (we can cook egg) - just kidding.
btw, anybody have same problem with me, if not, give me ur ext bat brand name.
Have heard/read about cases where huge extended battery interferes with/reduces mobile signal strength on the I9500/05, but not WiFi. Wouldn't be a huge shock if it did that as well though, particularly if your WiFi connectivity is a bit flaky to begin with. Only fix is to use a lesser capacity extended battery or stock battery.
question
Are there any brand name that suitable for s4. I bought a china brand name and it work like shjt and i alway get my phone and that bat overheat.

Hey
Now. i know this has been asked alot before etc.. but i havent found my answer so im making my own thread and providing some information on my device
I got my Sgs4 a few days ago and ive been hitting temps of up to 60-62 ...
My questions.
a) These high temperatures, erh... arent they killing(not draining.killing) the battery? cuz i recently read Li-ion shouldent get above 40?
b) Is there ANY fix for this without root?
c) Should i rma it when its hitting such high temps? or will i just get a device where the same thing happends..?.
d) Would this possibly be fixable with a future software update?
Now, here's some information
Before the s4 i had s3 and i remember it being hot and shutting off in the first months i had it, but a update solved it. Buuut unlucky as i am i broke it :/ so i bought the s4.
My s4 is the quadcore Snapdragon 600.
I've done/gotten 0 software updates.
I've tried dissabling some programs (look attachments)
I've used power saving mode. still gets hot.
I've tried rebooting
I've tried changing the Micro sdhc and tried removing it completely too.
The only thing i found helpful was laying the phone on top of my pc fan :/..
Ive attached some pictures with my specs etc..
The temp was recorded using '' #*0228# '' code
Hopefully some awesome person will help me

Check in the battery stats if an app is consuming allot of battery and disable it.
Check using some cpu monitoring app like watchdog if some process is running high cpu cycles
Check if in flight mode the phone heats up. If not maybe wifi or radio transmitter is working hard.
Check if your reception is good or not in battery stats when clicking on the graph. Should be green if good yellow if bad.

How do i check the temp? Do i need an app?
So far based on my observations my phone heats up when playing games. As for surfing it heats up more if you use LTE/4g. when the connection icon changes to H it doesnt heat up as much when in 4g.
My workaround so far is when my screen is off, it auto shuts down all connections by using a profile manager app. No push notifications though but it does save up my battery and avoid heating. Im still waiting for an update that fixes this overheating issue. sucks to not be able to use push just for the sake of the phone not heating up...
*EDIT: nvm i figured the code out from the OP. mine reached 55c

type *#0228# on the keyboard. at the top it shows network state, then battery state and temperature, at the bottom it says "external thermistor" and that's the phone temperature. my s4 heats up to 50° just by browsing xda app, 65° when watching youtube. sometimes can't even touch the space under the camera it's so hot.

Any idea how to know whats running Using the android system. Its sending data somewhere i think and its draining my battery as well. Adds up heating my phone up as well.
My battery went down from 97% to the one indicated in the screenshot. Help please... Im beginning to hate android now with this lackluster battery life. This just happened yesterday. Everything was fone before that.

I think I have this problem too. Or I'm really paranoid about my battery. I did a factory reset a few days ago, but it was fine before that. Usually my screen is the #1 battery consumer, now Android System is 75%.
Did you update your firmware? I'm running ME2 and had no problems whatsoever before that.
I downloaded "battery stats plus" and the issue might be the "camera test"?
I dont think the firmware updated has something to do with it? Not sure though.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 2
Downloaded that app, and Camera Test shows pretty high on mine as well. About 1,73% though, but with a bit over 5 hours without charging. It's been using my camera sensor 2 hours out of 5.
I think this is a really good case for the experts in the better battery stats thread. They have a special procedure to help you quickly solve the problem.
Read the OP, or if its a multiple post OP read them. It says exactly how to let the phone sit idle (i think I recall its 4 hours) and get some specific info and post it and they will help you narrow down exactly what's causing it but also give a solution.
I have a job interview in just a bit, and am in a hurry but wanted to share that with you.
I have an idea what the problem might be and those guys actually have a really good solution to fix it without having to eliminate anything and just changing some settings.

Looks like i fixed the issue somehow...
I think google and samsung apps might be the problem. Tried to open and setup to not use any data on all google and samsung apps. Namely google setting app, samsung hub, samsung link, Keis, etc.
Update them all via samsung hub and possibly download kies air from samsung app store. Was trying to setup them while charging the phone. Location based apps was also turned off for using gps or data. Turned off notifications on them as well unless you do want to be notified.

Hi everyone, I've had my nexus 4 for about three weeks now and I think I have a problem with the battery, it just seems to be draining no matter what set up I have be it ROM or stock or any kernel, its draining whether I'm using it or not, obviously it drains quicker when I'm using it but it empties at quite a quick rate, also when I'm charging it it seems to take an age to fully charge.
I don't know if its me just being silly about the whole thing but I'm certain it shouldn't be draining this quickly.
Now I don't know if I need a replacement and if I do would the fact that I brought it off eBay matter?
I'm a bit gutted cos I sold my other phone to get this one now this one is playing up and I'm not sure I can get it replaced?
Just need some advice from you guys as what to do?
Many thanks

I suggest buying a battery on eBay for the Nexus 4 and replace the battery currently in your phone. It shouldn't cost more than $40 USD.

hello,
i'm using a galaxy s4 since 3 months now but i have a problem since this week.
my phone looses signal at some point. nothing that i know that can cause it. it doenst turn back when activating airplane mode and then deactivating this mode.
and when i turn of the phone it turns on to the standard galaxy S4 logo and then samsung logo but then it just dies.
i have to connect it to a charger and then it works.
also my phone doenst give an announcement when my battery is emptY. it sometimes displays 15% on battery and then it dies. when charging the battery icon displays and the battery is completly empty?
i looked at my battery and it is a little bit swollen and i only use official charger at night from samsung and during the day one of nokia
anyone else with this problem?
I had the same issue. My battery was also swollen.
Replacing my battery solved the problem. At least till now (fingers crossed)

I´m experience that too. My battery is going slowly... Every new charge theems the phone lasts less... Battery issue?
I have experienced this during my Galaxy W days. And samsungs centre's technician told me it's because I charge my phone while using it for hours, and it's straining the battery causing the gradual swell. Since then I never plug my phone while using it and until now my s4's battery is still good as new. My phone's 4 months old already.
FYI.

I'm sorry but this doesn't make any sense to me. Maybe it's Samsung's was of "diverting" the fault to the user. The battery should not swell because you're using it while charging. I've never had this issue with with my other phone, which had a very small battery by design and had to stay plugged in if I were to get any real use out of it. Over charging does gradually reduce battery life but no swelling.
I have also had this issue. Started a few days ago with random reboots and signal losses.
Has anyone taken it back to the shop? Will they want to keep the phone for testing? I just want to replace the battery and not have to send my device away for a long time. I need to know because it's rooted and if they see that the warranty will be voided. Phone is only 3 months old, this really shouldn't happen.
I think it's battery issue. Maybe Samsung spares on the battery this time... on s3 it was on memory.
I solved this issue flashing a Google edition romantic with a full wipe (formating internal sd). Take some days with this Google edition tom and battery drain stopped. This can be related to last firmware releases. Just guessing...

Hello all,
I have a small query on my S4 which has just recently developed from what I can see. When my phone gets to about 20% or less, my phone just randomly switches off when I try to download an app or open an app. I am not sure if its the battery or a software issue but it is quite irritating. Has anyone experienced something similar and does anyone know if its a battery problem or not.
I dont want to buy another battery just in case it isnt that.
Cheers
VJ
Take a closer look at the Battery, if it slightly bloaded / expanded the Battery is defekt which cause exactly such problems.
If so replace the Battery under warranty!
It could be dangerous to load such a defekted Battery
It seems that some Battreys suffering by this problem even if they are only a couple of months old.
Regards
Cheers for that. I will have a look at it

Last week my battery wasn't lasting quite as long as expected.
Friday, my S4 started shutting down randomly (particularly when installing or opening apps) and attempts to reboot itself but fails at the Samsung logo. Non of these issues arise when connected to the charger.
I checked my battery which has bulged by maybe about 1mm in the middle each side.
I ordered a replacement stock battery yesterday and will let you know how I get on.
Just seen my battery and it definitely spins when put on a flat surface. There is also a bulge so I think I will need to look at a replacement battery going that will sort it out

New battery arrived and installed.
All the issues have been resolved, therefore I conclude the original battery is defective as I suspected.
I will now pursue a replacement under warranty.
Good luck with yours.
