I'm currently using PA 3.99 RC2 on my GS3 I9300, and the only thing keeping me there over any other ROM is the built in Hybrid Engine and Per App DPI options that come baked into the ROM. Does OMNI have anything like that, because from what I've read OMNI sounds like an amazing ROM and definitely the way forward as far as ROMs are concerned.
So just to clarify: Does OMNI have a Hybrid Engine or Per App DPI setting?

Not yet, they said it's planned. But as a workaround you still can install Xposed framework with AppSettings, and you'll have per app DPI settings.
In fact, with Xposed you have almost every customazation you can find in any rom, except per app color from PA (or i just not found it)
I still suggest to keep as close to aosp as possible...all the PREEXISTING feature implementation will make it pacman rom :/ wont it..
Gotta finish multiwindow first... I worry that per-app DPI and multiwindow might interact in weird ways.
TBH I'm not a fan of per-app DPI at all - however one idea I had was that it MIGHT make sense to drop DPI by one bin (e.g. xxhdpi to xhdpi) when an app is running in multiwindow.

Hey there,
I am searching for a ROM with following requirements:
- Resizeable Navbar, want it a bit smaller
- Opacity of navbar and statusbar background should be changeable, want it transparent
- Should be smooth but no need to be extremely fast in every benchmark, I'd prefer a longer battery life
- Gridsize should be changeable, but could be done by nova launcher etc. if not by the rom itself
- Changeable statusbar symbols would be nice
Any suggestions wich ROM would fullfill most criteria?
Thanks!
I would go for AOKP any time. It's fast, smooth, stable and customizable. In combination with Apex Launcher it can do everything you want and for different statusbar icons there are lots of cool themes suppported by AOKP.

But can I change the status/nav bac opacity? I tried it some days ago, but I can't remember that feature, but I'll just flash it again and have a look ^^

Yes, you can change both statusbar and navbar transparency simultaniously. It's under ROM Control/General UI about halway down the menu.

Ah okay thank you! Maybe you can also tell me the difference between the normal AOKP ROM and the unofficial release from Roman?
Right now I am downloading build 2 of the official ROM.
One last question ^^ does it come with another kernel? If not which kernel would you recommend?
AW: Which ROM would you recommend me?
I don't know the included kernel.
I would go with the Build 2, because this one is more stable.
As kernel I would choose franco's kernel, for me it has awesome battery life and very good perfomance.

I would go with Paranoidandroid, it really is on of the most custom ROM's out their at the minute bringing amazing features to Android. You can change the Nav bar size and colour or or go with tablet UI completely. Battery life would be more ROM, and kernel specific so thats a matter of opinion really.
Im running Slim bean. Really responsive. You can customize Nav bar I'm using the assassins creed nav bar icons and you can change colors and everything, running with their inverted apps, the less whites the better battery. On Franco's kernel also.

I personally use Xylon ROM (tons of features even compared to AOKP), Paranoid Android is also fantastic, I'm on Harsh kernel, smoothest experience and great battery life (5hrs+ screen on), was a Franco fan till I tried Harsh
Paranoid Android is where it's at.
panaroid, Xenon HD, Xylon....etc..

Paranoid Android using pie controls while still retaining the status bar is a dream come true once you get used to it.
It doesn't slow me down at all and the extra screen real estate is something that I wouldn't want to live without (especially in browser, youtube, video and games).

nexus 4 builds come with stock kernel..
Official KILLRom. It's not on XDA, but it's easy to find.
There are many options as you cab see. Try then out and stick with the one that you love the most.

How is aokp in terms of battery drain? I've heard that it drains a lot. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Paranoid android. Before I would switch between several roms but now with the several most recent updates for PA I'm not leaving that ROM anymore
cm10.1 jellybrO
AOKP hands down.
Thanks all, I tried Xylon and liked it a lot, but suddenly my play store app disappeared and I don't know how.
Then tried Paranoid but I don't like the menu interface and went to AOKP.
AOKP was very fine until now, but my play store disappeared again. I have absolutely no idea what is happening.
But I will open another thread for this problem. Wouldn't be appropriate here.
CM10.1 has a tonne of great features that I use frequently, and I love how clean and well integrated all the modifications are (as opposed to something like AOKP which just feels a little hacked together). However, I'm pretty jealous of the option to theme the navbar, as well as the various hybrid mode options of Paranoid Android. I used to use it until they moved way from the CM base, but now I find it's missing too many features that I enjoy. Is there any CM10.1 based ROM that includes some or all of these features?
Have you tried PACMan ROM? It has features from CM, AOKP, and PA.

Also, how about a rom that could be used as a daily driver for the wife?
Carbon Rom. If its your wife's phone, chances are she doesn't know how to root and do all that fancy stuff.
Just leave her phone stock unless you want to claim responsibility for anything that she does.
The one in my signature is nice and simple. But I'm with the guy above, if she doesn't know much about technology the stock AOSP rom already on there is already pretty clean and free of bloat.
Course on the other hand, my mom isn't too technical and she's running SlimBean 6 on her Galaxy Tab 2 7.0" just fine. (plus I got it all pink-color themed including the navigation buttons the way she likes it, lol).
CM 10.1 should be everyone's first ROM imho. It's stable and adds more features on the default ROM

So is every other rom for the Nexus 4. A unstable rom for N4 is very rare because N4 is a aosp device and has all the binaries available whereas non nexus devices do not.
Make yourself a open book and don't limit yourself to only Cm. Cm o's very strict on their guidelines and don't want to add a bunch of features compared to their old days like Cm7.
Try carbon. It has features all from cm, aokp, paranoid android, etc while being a very speedy rom. You're missing out on a lot of extra goodies such as navigation bar height, halo etc.

Not from my experience, but good luck.
Oh haiiii everyone!
I ventured on over from the HTC One X/XL threads a week or so ago and I couldn't be more happy! The guys over there do great work but the phone isn't very rom / root friendly.
Anywho, I had a couple questions ( hope you guys are friendly :silly::good: ) all three aren't really rom specific so I'm throwing the question here.
1. In CM10.2 (lastest nightly) I noticed every time I go into performance > CPU settings the Minimum CPU frequency is set to 1026MHz. So I changed it to 384MHz, quit the settings app went back in and it's set back to 1026MHz. Now here is the kicker; the Current CPU frequency idles at 384MHz despite the minium setting constantly reverting back to 1026MHz. Any thoughts? Is this just a bug aka it says its set to 1026MHz but really the minimum setting is 384MHz? I'd assume that to be the answer due to the fact of the current CPU setting sitting at 384MHz.
2. Quick one; Is there any way to install Halo from PA into CM? Easy or difficult, doesn't matter.Although I'm assuming that this isn't nor will it be possible. It seems to be intertwined into PA rom instead of just a system apk.
3. Another quick one, is there anyway to enable performance tab in settings in the latest ParanoidAndroid build? I enable developer settings but still couldn't get the performance section to show in the settings. NOW I think that they might have removed it? I read somewhere that they removed themes (understandable they arent really compatible with different DPI settings / PA color settings etc.) but maybe I'm just blind...
Again I'm new here SO HELLO EVERYONE NICE TO MEET YOU ALL I have been waiting to get the N4 for so long, envious of all the N4 roms when I was on the HOXL.
I'm Josh / jfphotox I want to get into theming and maybe a little lite dev eventually!
Cheers everyone!
2. There's no easy way to do this like installing an apk. Halo is intertwined deeply inside of the android framework. There are a couple cm10 roms that have cherry picked halo, if that's what your looking.
3. You're not blind...PA doesn't have any built in performance settings. You can use a third party app like setCPU to do this.

I had a feeling it was deeply intertwined into the rom, which roms cherrypicked halo out? I like CM exactly how it is just want to have the ability to use halo if I want it
And,
Thanks I thought I checked everywhere, I wasn't sure which app was best.
THANKS!

Take a look at crdroid. It has a couple other features, but its based on cm10.2 and is still very stable.

Great!
Thanks again, I'll check it out next time I'm on a flash trip! :good:
P.S. I feel welcomed already
There are a couple of CM roms with halo added. As far as #1 min frequency is at 384. Qualcomm uses mp decision. Every time you touch the screen the cpu ramps up to 1026. It's also part of project butter at work to ensure smooth scrolling and what not. So even though it says 1026 it still goes down to lower frequencies

I run CM based AOSP ROM's.
But I'd like to give Google Edition ROM another try. But only if it's possible yet to edit the items listed in the Quick Settings panel. Does anyone know if any of those ROM's are capable of this yet? They weren't the last time I tried.
Kinda hard to google "Google" and "Quick Settings" because I get a zillion hits on that. hahah
CM based AOSP let's me add or remove items from the Quick Settings. And I absolutely love the Quick Settings and being able to edit it.
Google editions will bring the pure stock experience, which means no customizable quick settings. These ROMS will almost always be pure stock.
CM, AOKP and others will always have the customizations, because they are tweaked aosp ROMS. (My personal favorite) xD

Yeah, I know. On both accounts.
I'm posting up to find out if anyone has modded a ROM to allow for this. Such as modding a ROM to give you a see-through status bar. Which is now possible, but also not part of the "pure stock experience".
Thanks though.
The Xposed mod, "GravityBox" now lets you add or remove QuickSettings tiles as well as re-order them. It's still a little limited compared with AOSP Quick Settings, but it's almost there. :good:

Yore better off sticking to aosp based ROMs, a majority of then are practically just as lightweight if that's what you're looking for.

GravityBox is certainly the way to go with Google Edition ROMs.
Being based on TouchWiz framework still offers better battery life & performance for me compared to CM/AOKP/Slim...

No thanks, AOSP doesn't have APT-X bluetooth codec. Which is a higher priority.
