4.3 in So Cal? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

I have three S4s (well me and two friends)
2 are stock and rooted.
1 is stock, not rooted.
None have received the 4.3 update yet.
Am I missing something? Activating my S4s were a total nightmare. Turning mine on, turned off my roomates (same plan) and he had to call to get his back on.
Should I have received it by now?

Experiencing Issues with 2.1 ROM's (Incoming Calls / Messages / GPS)

Hey there,
I purchased the HTC Hero from Sprint around a week ago, and it came with a stock 1.5. Had no issues at all, so today decided to try out the leaked 2.1 RUU. Updated without a hassle, but I've been experiencing some issues. This led to me repairing the bootloader and then trying DamageControl 2.08, and now finally fresh 2.0d. All installations went perfectly, nothing to call home about.
My issues are listed below:
It cannot automatically detect my timezone, and it has no clue as to my location for weather nor other features.
When I enable the GPS to go onto Maps, it locates me as around 1,000 miles off the west coast of Africa, whereas I'm in Pennsylvania, USA.
I can call my phone from another line, but no response on my phone (no calls received, nor missed calls).
When voicemails/messages come in, they flood in (10 new messages, etc, that have all stacked up).
I'm using the Wireless Tethering that comes with Fresh 2.0d, and I used PDANet/EasyTether prior to now (as my sole internet is tethering). I'm wondering if this could have at all affected it. Even with tethering disabled for a good hour, still nothing can reach me.
I've also updated the radio, and still no luck.
Wipe data and dalvik, reflash.

I wipe everything each time.
Now about to wipe it all and install the DarchLegend ROM.
I took my phone back to Sprint. I put the 2.1 leaked RUU on there, and took it to em'. Store manager swapped it for a new one.
I believe it was a hardware issue when it came to it. On 1.5, whilst I was tethering I'd not receive calls nor texts, similar to the all-time issue in 2.1. On the new phone which is running 1.5, it receives both whilst tethering.

you took the phone into sprint with a leaked/hacked 2.1 leak on it and they just gave you a "new" hero no questions asked?
It was nerving, I'll tell you that.
Claimed ignorance, that it was an OTA update. He then said how there'd been issues with the OTA updates as dropping a bar of signal screwed it up. He compared the Hero I had to the Hero in the store display noting it was different. He asked me if I did any software editing, I declined.
Told me to come back in half an hour, and hey presto, had a brand new HTC Hero awaiting me.

[Q] Nexus S randomly stopped sending texts (CM7)

Hey there xda people.
Couple days ago (the 15th) I rooted and loaded up CM7 nightly build for that day. Been great so far, but literally 10 minutes ago (3:11AM eastern time) my phone just stopped sending texts. No matter what I do, texts simply won't work to any number. Did a reboot, power off/pull battery, nothing's working.
Anybody know what the hell went wrong? I can't call my carrier at 3AM and I'm switching over to night shift....any help would be nice.
Edit: It says that it can send MMS but my friend never got it. I can't receive text or make calls. Full signal strength is reported. Data works absolutely fine.
To be honest it sounds like a carrier problem.

Sounds like the same issue I had when I attempted Sprint+Google Voice integration. Have you tried that recently?
Your smsc number was accidentally deleted?
Phew, looks like it was a carrier issue. Apparently SMS servers got backed up for a couple hours.
Crisis averted. I was freaking out - thought it was my rooting/modding that did it

[Q] SIM Removed Error

Hello,
A few hours after I reboot my phone, it will act as though I've removed my SIM (emergency calls only, no text, no data). Restarting the phone fixes the issue for a few more hours, but it's quite annoying to have to turn my phone off and on so often. I'm rooted on MF3, and was running Google Edition 4.2.2 through SS when the issue first appeared, though I have since returned to stock and the issue still exists. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
DorkCat
I am having the same issue, did you ever get this sorted out? My phone is MDB running cm11. I hate to send the phone back... again. My camera crapped out on the first phone. I hate to send it back since I am sure I'll end up with MF3.
Thanks,
Travis

New S4 problems with 4.3 update.

I got the S4 during the black Friday sale at best buy, I've had the phone only 8 days and I'm already running into problems. There has been 2 instances when I get a call, there is no audio. The person cannot hear me or I cant hear them or there is complete silence. Another weird thing I notice was my custom ringtones reset back to the defaults for my contacts and text notifications. Not sure if this has anything to do with the 4.3 update but I am planning on returning to BB and swapping out for another S4. I didn't get a chance to use the phone before updating to 4.3 but is there any way to stop the OTA with the new phone swap? I want to hold off a bit with 4.3 to see if the problem comes back.

Interesting,
I too bought the S4 at BB on Black Thursday. I am also having intermittent issues with phone calls as you described. Not all the time but probably on 8 calls. There is absolutely no audio but the call shows to have connected and seconds are counting on. I had this happen on both outbound and inbound calls. We got 4 phone at the time and mine seems to be the only one doing this.
I went to the Sprint store today and they ran the activation process to see if that would fix. Still waiting and hoping it won't happen again.
Interested in others thoughts or experiences as well. .

I went back to BB and did a swap. I am back at 4.2.2. Is there any way I can prevent the OTA?

And you can stop it from bothering you with notifications, too. On the notifications pane, long press the update notification. Go to App Info and then uncheck the Show Notifications box.

SIM card not detected.

I activated my wife's phone this past Saturday morning. She didn't really use it over the weekend. She called me during the day on Monday fine. But came home Monday night saying she had no signal. The phone was showing "no SIM" in the notification bar. So I removed and reinserted the SIM and it fixed it.
Has anyone else experienced this? If so, does it keep reoccurring?
Mine has been working fine since I activated it last Thursday.

I've seen this on mine and different phones before. I wouldn't be too worried unless it happens again.
I had the same issue, and popping out the SIM and reinserting it fixed it. I had been been swapping SIM cards trying to get system updates prior to this being an issue.

Who's your carrier? Sprint? Then you need to update your profile settings while it's still working.

Yes, Sprint. I had to do the Update Profile to get it activated on Saturday.
I have the unlocked Black version (on Att) of this phone. Last week 3 times I got the Sim card not detected and twice a reboot fixed it the 3rd time I had to remove the Sim card and reinstall for it to be recognized. So far the only real issuem I have had with it. Hopefully it doesn't continue.
