Using stock sense and sprint/gv integration and i can receive texts in gv as well as send them from the stock messaging app and gv.
i've contacted sprint on the phone a couple times and got to the highest level tech support and they couldn't fix it. also tried the sprint store and they just want to give me another evo. they have one on order, but i'd much rather keep my rooted evo! the new one will likely have 2.3 installed stock and i'll need to wait for root.
this really doesn't seem like a hardware issue anyways, seems like it's a network side problem.
i've made sure sms forwarding is enabled to my mobile number on gv, tried factory and hard resets multiple times. tried unintegrating and reintegrating my sprint number with gv.
the weird thing is even when i'm unintewgrated and using just vanilla sprint i don't receive texts at all. i can send them, make and receive calls too but never does a text come to my phone.
there doesn't seem to be anyone else reporting this problem i8n my area.
phone is rooted, stock rom, the problem started after iu hard reset my phone. i was hoping a hard reset would fix some buis i was experiencing with the GB update. i can't say for sure this was because i hard reset, buit it's a huge coincidence that it happened at approximately the same time. i can't think of any logical reason the hard reset would affect my sms this way.
btw i installed a rooted version of 2.3.3 as well as the latest combo radio pack. that was over a week ago though and this issue just cropped up yesterday.
hopefully this post wasn't too jumbled and i gave enough info, any ideas?
edit: crap, should be in the Q&A forum, please move if necessary :/

Not what I was going through a few months back then, but I could make calls but not receive calls. I don't use GV either so probably not the same issue. Just thought I would ask, turns out those issues for me was my 3G going out on my phone. Ended up getting it replaced.
Hope you find a solution, I know how frustrating it is.

sprint is ordering me another phone, hoping against it being a refurb, though then i likely have to wait for a new root method for gingerbread.
preferably they'd get it working on my current evo. i really think it has to be a network issue.

You should be good, I had two replacement refurbs as early as last week and they both had 3.7 on them. Watch for the sunspot on the screen when it boots initially (bright white spot in the lower half towards the middle), both of the refurb replacements had the bad screen. You can't see it if it boots all the way..you'll have to go to a bright screen to see it but it will just get worse to where you will see it all the time. Finally the rep gave me a NIB 004..also 3.7. Just make sure they don't update it, I would ask if you could do the activation as well so you can look for the screen issue on initial boot. Good Luck! Guess I didn't have to quote due to it being right above mine...lmao
Think they'll give me any trouble if I turn in my phone still rooted? I don't feel like unrooting it, not to mention if the new/refurb doesn't fix my issue I'm going to keep my current evo anyways.
I mean they've already approved me for the replacement.
I had the same problem
I had the exact same situation happen last weekend. All I did to fix it was to flash back to a Stock Sense 2.2 ROM, Update Profile/PRL, and then open EPST and Reset Data connection using THIS little tutorial.

Ya..did all that and then some to mine..no dice. But good advice. Hardware issue won't be solved by software no matter the method I found out. Believe me..even went as far as unrooting and seeing if stock would be the same..it was.
The unrooting process is very easy and with the replacement coming in, why not. Sounds like hardware anyway. Here is what I did to go back and forth:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113620
You can also look at the stickies at the top of general/Q&A for options.
Good Luck.

doesn't seem like hardware at all to me though. and if that's the case and I unroot and end up keeping this phone i just shot myself in the foot by locking my bootloader.
i wish i would have had them try activating another phone today to see if another phone would be able to receive the texts.
No need to unroot! Go to voice.google.com, click on the "gear" icon to go into Voice Settings. Find your gv/sprint phone number, click Edit and check the checkbox for "receive text messages on this device." Hit save, and enjoy.

I actually did in my first post, though that post is a bit of a mess I realize, it's hard to really put everything I've already tried in any neat order.
No worries either way, any suggestions are welcome at this point.
Had to send my SP back for repair today, i'm on o2 uk and had nothing but problems calling out with this handset.
Not only that people cant get through either and it just diverts directly to voicemail!
Changed the firmware, done a fresh install, I know its not a sim card issue as I have used it in a different phone with no issues
Anyone else had a similar problem?
did u find any solution?
Oh god I hope mine doesn't start acting that crazy, I mean lately I too had problems with calls as in automatically turning on the speaker when aswering.. also the front camera has stopped working unless I restart the phone, then everything is normals for a couple of hours

I've got exactly the same problem with speaker turning on when I answer a call. I was planning to do a complete reset of the phone this evening hoping to solve this one.

Me too, it's just I kinda hoped I could wait the new update out though it was quite awkward in the metro today when my gf screemed out of the phone when I answered.
Any good backup app you have on mind?

I took a backup with PC companion. You can backup sms and contacts, and I wouldn't recommend to restore apps to avoid restoring the bug
Do 2 backups, 1 complete and one with only sms and contacts so you can choose what to restore and try.
At the moment the problem seems to be solved, but more time is needed due to the fact that it wasn't happening 100% of the time on my device.

Downgraded back to 4.1.2 as I thought it might be a firmware issue, (I did have the bug where it answered direct to loudspeaker too but I believe that is a 4.3 bug)
Still had issues with calls not connecting and not being able to receive calls, so I have sent the phone back for repair.
Today I have received an email stating the phone could not be repaired and I will be getting a replacement phone, I don't know whether this will be a new handset or a reconditioned one yet

The problem is caused by the Chrome update. Uninstall all updates and disable the app, and your phone won't switch to speaker anymore
Sometimes when I answer my incoming calls it goes to speakerphone. Then I have to restart my XSP to get out of this problem.

Hey all,
I recently bought an (AT&T) LG G2 off eBay, as my iPhone 5S just wasn't cutting it for me.
The day before it came I went into AT&T and asked for a new nano-SIM, it was given to me with no questions asked. The next day, I got it, put the SIM card in, and called to activate it. Everything went fine with customer service, and it activated with no problem, or so I thought.
Everything was looking good, and before I got off the phone with AT&T, I rebooted just to be positive. Once it was back on, I realized in the status bar in the top left it said "Roaming Indicator Off". I told the rep, and he said that was very weird, so we began troubleshooting. Around a half an hour into this, I received a text, I went to go respond to it and when I pressed send it said "No USIM Card". I told him about this as well, so we began troubleshooting both issues.
After about an hour he bumped me up to Android technical support, where I painfully continued with troubleshooting. During all of this I accidentally tried to make a call, and voila, it all went away. The status bar now said "AT&T" and I was able to send texts just fine. I told him about it and just said "That's weird, but awesome!". I rebooted the phone one more time just to make sure, and what do you know, it did it again. The same message came up in my status bar, as well as the inability to send texts.
There was a lot of things tried to fix it, including a master reset, the manual configuration of APN's, and a different text message center address. Trust me when I say, we've done just about everything possible. In fact, the next day he called me back with an LG rep on the line, they too couldn't figure it out.
At first they thought it was a hardware problem, but since making one phone call after a reboot fixes everything, they're leaning toward software. However, there was nothing else they could do.
I guess it isn't really that big of a deal, considering I can just make a call everytime I restart my phone. But I'd really like to get rid of the problem completely.
Thanks for any help you may be able to offer!
-Andrew

Haven't had a lot of luck with questions here for the last little while, but maybe someone has an idea as to why this would happen. My wife tried to call me 6 times yesterday. Not a single call came through or registered on my S7 Edge. She said all calls immediately went through to voice mail. When she got home, she stood right beside me and tried again and again, I was not notified of the call and it went right through to voice mail.
The phone had recently been rebooted. DND was not on. All sounds were on. The phone is not rooted and no apps like Greenify or anything like that running. After her last unsuccessful call to me, standing right beside me, I called her and it went through without an issue. She then tried to call me back and it worked. A minute or so later I received notification of her 2 voice mail messages from her previous calls. It's like the phone was in an extreme deep sleep. Which is pretty annoying considering I use the phone as a phone and I need calls to come through when they are made.
I took the phone into my carrier and they gave me a new sim card to try. I didn't have any issues with the previous sim card other than the issue from time to time of the first call I place being dropped and then the second call going through without issue. The signal is not fantastic in our condo, but I've never had someone tell me they have tried to call me and simply gone to vm before, so I don't know of any time of this happening previously. My wife had never had problems calling me before at all.
Anyone know what might have caused this?
No answers to this post,. Guess no one knows. Just another bizarre Samsung issue. Had it happen again today. My wife had to send me a Whatsapp message saying she couldn't call me. She said she called over and over again. No voice mail, no nothing. Never rang on my end or registered a call at all. Phone just didn't work until I called her and then she called me back and it worked. So sick of this thing working when it feels like it. Checked signal Not great, but no better than her signal and she never has any issues. She said she would call, it would just drop. No ringing, no voice mail, no nothing. Just call and then drop sound. Over and over again. Good thing this phone is only a $1000 device. Works great.
I don't have a solution for your problem, but had a similar issue when phoning my wife. It would ring on my side, but not on her side, then goes to voicemail. 2nd or 3rd time the call would go through to her to answer. Her phone wouldn't show any of the other calls. She was with a specific service provider and I moved her over to my provider. That is when the problems started as she was ported over to my provider. In the end it was on the provider's side where the problem was. They made some changes on her number profile and she could receive all calls and not random ones. Don't know the technical side of what the provider did, but they did admit they created her "call profile" incorrectly. Perhaps it's the same with you, that there is a setup on your profile that is not correct.
Thanks for the post, but I have contacted my provider. We use the same provider. Same settings. They reset everything for my phone and I reset everything on my end too. Still no solution. She does not have the same issues. Same phone. Same provider. Just sucks when you don't know if someone is trying to call you or not and if the phone actually works or not. I just want a phone that works all the time without having to worry about it. At the end of the day, that's all this is....a phone. If people can't call, well, that's an issue. I'm currently looking for work so it's even more important now than it's ever been.
Sorry to hear that you went the route of the provider and still no resolution. Maybe someone else can give light on the subject...

OK...What does that have to do with this thread that I created about my issue? I feel drunk...I think I need another drink. WTF?
What do you want? I had the ****ing same issue..solved it and deleted my message..
Try to flash some stock firm with Odin.. solved the very same issue for me!!!
So why did you delete the message then?
It started suddenly after a week on the January update, but I downgraded to Dec update and still have the same issues, meaning it's a hardware defect. Already reported this to google. Anyone else?
Had similar issue
I had a similar issue since yesterday. Tried booting into the safe mode to check if any third party app is doing it( If you wanna try that hold the power button then touch and hold the power icon on the screen). If it still stays it is a hardware issue you need to get it repaired. I just gave my phone to Ubreakfixit
Yes it is a hardware issue. Safe mode, factory reset, downgrading the software did not work.
This just happened to me this morning.
what is going on? this literally just happened to me too this morning. I can make calls via whatsapp/facebook etc, but if I try to call anyone it just says "calling" but there's no sound, eventually it cuts off. If someone tries to call me, the phone doesn't ring and I just get the sms saying there's a message in my voicemail. It says I'm on the 4g network, I can send sms messages and wifi works fine. If I have to ship the phone anywhere I'm ****ed, I'll have to buy another phone as a spare :crying:

Looks like I'm one of the lucky ones. I had to go out and soon as I got to the next town a call came in, so I tested making more calls and it worked fine there. Upon returning home the issue returned. I figured it's gotta mean something is up with my provider or the nearby antenna so asked a few friends who live near me and a neighbour. Turns out they all have the same issue. I'll have to wait it out now and see if they fix it. The wierd part is 4g data and sms work fine and I've still got full signal strength or I'd have assumed that right away.

That sounds more plausible than hundreds of Pixels bottom speaker burning out all of a sudden. When the call supposedly comes in does it show on the screen or just go directly to voicemail? That would be the initial test of the speaker. Does it play music, can you hear notifications? Every once in a while that happens to me and then I just try again a mile or so down the road and it connects fine. If you have wifi calling you can try that too.

No, it was the service provider in the end. My whole town had the issue for a couple days. The company (movistar) have fixed it now so I can make calls and recieve them no problem. To say I was relieved is an understatement.
Bottom speaker broke out of nothing
I guess I'm really unlucky, me and my girlfriend got two pixel 4 in black Friday and both of the phones had the same issue, it started having a crackling sound for a few seconds and then the bottom speaker completely died while in a speakerphone call tried a factory reset with no luck, no sounds comes out, my girlfriend had the phone only for a few weeks when that happened, and in my phone happened last week, now we have to figure how to ship the phone back to the US and try to get a refund, since if it breaks again it would be close to impossible for us to ship it back again

Hello everyone
I own a pixel 4 and it has a constant problem.
after operating normally, suddenly for no apparent reason it loses all sounds and vibrations.
also it is not possible to make calls and freezes in various system applications.
sometimes this is solved with a simple restart of the phone, other times a factory reset is necessary and lately it is required to unlock the boot loader to reinstall the factory image and test with which security patch recovers all its functions and returns to function normally.
It started suddenly after a week on the January update
What would be the cause of this failure in the phone?
At first I reported the problem to google and they indicated the same to most of you; restarting the phone or factory reset and how the method worked no longer insisted.
after the February update its operation was normalized, but with the arrival of the May update the same problem returned.
I had to downgrade to the April update, then to the March update and after several attempts it worked again, but a few days later the problem returns and I have to repeat the process.
What arguments should i use to convince google to change the phone or return my money?
I never rooted
Buy the unlocked phone at BHphoto on Black Friday
model G020I
I live in Peru
NOTE: I do not speak English and use the translator.
sorry
I'm on latest Android 11 DP and I noticed that this release removed a lot of bass from the speaker. I think to prevent the clipping and damage of the speaker.
