I tried to connect my defy at pc with USB cable.but all i have in microSD appears as shortocuts.. all folders are the same..and all of them have only 2 kb.i tried to connect to other pc,and the same thing.PLEASE HELP

i am new to this so apprecaite your help.have been using my xda exec for about a firthinte brilliantly.however since yesterday ,when i plug the usb cable to pda nothing is happening,fone is not being recognized by pc.i tried different cables and diferent pc's to no avail.the pda does not even charge via usb cable.
however it charges normally via wall charger.
do you think I bust the connector,could it be fixed?
hi heres what you can do to see it your usb still works
1. have a storage card sd/mmc if you dont have one borrow one
2. download softtick 2 from http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YPH5DW4I or wm5storage you choose
3. connect your pda with softick installed
4.press the usb option and the sd card should display as a normal flash drive
5.if the computer recognizes it and picks it up as a flash drive then you definatly know it works properly
6. if it doesn't then you can hard reset your pda
7:if that still dont work then consult a techniian or a guru to help you open it

i faced with a problem on my hero,
it doesn't connect to PC.
after cable's plugged in, sometimes I see mode selection dialog, sometimes - no, but in any case, PC writes : usb device is not recognized.
sometimes i see removable drive win explorer, but after clicking on this windows tells me - please insert disk into this drive,
and hero detaches mounted drive with notification about preparing sd card for usage.
i faced with with problem not after next flashing custom rom, but after that i tried to wipe data and flash various roms, the same result.
how do you think this is hardware issue? or recommend me to try another steps to fix this, please

use usbdeview to remove anything HTC then reboit,don't let windows install anything from Windows update

but it doesn't work completely.
Actually, I've tried to connect my Hero via usb with XP, Vista, Ubuntu, OSX
and got the same problem,
host loses the connection to hero,
sometimes host can't connect after plugging cable ,
sometimes host can transfer small files, but when I try to copy large file to the device and host loses connection during the copy process.
looks like a problem with usb connector/controller on device side,
like power trouble, low voltage on usb
your opinion?

I've been using Defy for 6 months, been alright, but for the last 2 wks, I have stopped being able to connect to my Defy's Memory card via USB cable anymore. I think perhaps I did uninstall some moto drivers or something, so I decided to reinstall it, but that wont help.
All it notify me on my Win 7 when I connect my defy is "Android ADB Device connected"
How am I supposed to solve this problem?

You shouldn't need any drivers to connect to the memory card. When you plug the cable into the Defy, pull down the notification bar and select the USB Mass Storage option, then tap OK. (Also, go into your settings and make sure USB Debugging is not enabled.) The Defy will act like a USB thumb drive.
thanks a bunch, i forgot to turn it off, never thought bout that before.
i just updated to Wajkiui 1.12.16 today, n it just happened again. Can't connect to my sdcard even thou i turned usb debugging off already.
I tried going to recovery, and mount SD card through recovery menu, but nothing show up in my computer.
My external HDD can connect pretty well w the same usb port ... what on earth might be happening w my fone n pc?
I have same problem with Defy+
I have installed ICS.
In system menu I have "USB Debugging" OFF and if I select "Share SD Card",
USB debugging is still on and I cannot connect to SD card.

I just got MK809 III and it worked excellent for 3 days, and then it just doesn't boot and there is no output on HDMI.
I googled and there are forums which mentions to connect it via the micro usb (next to the sd card), and then press reset and connect to PC via USB. However my pc doesn't recognise any new devices..
I can see the "red' colour led light up when i plug micro usb in USB via PC (windows 7)
Any idea on how to connect it via Windows 7?
Or its just dead? As i didn't install any custom rom or didn't even try to root it.. IT was a stock ROM
Any advise would be helpful

Same here after 2 days....was on a custom rom...press reset and connect to PC from OTG ( next to sd card) and wait for PC to recognise...mine took about 1 min....usually take few sec. I did a restore with "RKBatchTool" and is OK now.
