[Q] Factory data reset not working on rooted nook color

I have my nook color rooted onto the nook itself not the sd card. I am giving it to my nephew. I need to get my google account off of it. I go to privacy to factory reset my nook.t. The nook restarts but after the future of reading it says install failed please reset. How do I go about getting my google account off the nook? Thanks
I would restore it to stock. Instructions are here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914690&page=29

[Q] Is there a way to reset the security code?

My friend's daughter set a 4 digit security code on their Nook Color and has no idea what the code is.
Is there a way to reset or remove the code? I know I can factory reset/wipe the whole Nook, but I was hoping not to have to do that.
(The Nook Color is rooted using manual nooter.) I can boot to recovery, but I don't have any nandroid backups.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

[Q] How to remove NST root?

I am a total beginner and i just rooted my NST. Everything went fine I guess but I cant use Opera mini or the browser and I cant install any apps from the amazon app store. So i attempted to restore it back to how it was. I did everything right but the root is still there and all it did was revert my NST to version 1.0. Can anyone explain how to remove the root?
Just use this:

Your NST will revert back to stock (root and all apps erased), and be updated to 1.1.

So you said you lost root when updating to 1.4.2 from your rooted 1.4.1?
Well half way after the update its was still on the nook but google market would not work any more so i chalked it up to 1.4.2 messing up the Root..
never mind i just did a complete stock rebuild and re rooted it fixed it
Clear the cache and data in google play store, and on google framework services. After that restart it.

[Q] Updating firmware from rooted 1.1.0 to solve wifi issues?

I can't connect to wifi any more -- simply endless unsuccessful attempts (while standing next to the wifi hub). It used to sometimes take a few goes to connect, but it's now given up entirely. I have a rooted 1.1.0.
Has anyone come across this issue, and know of a fix other than updating the firmware? (I see 1.1.0 might have "wifi issues").
I've heard that 1.1.2 might have fixed the wifi issues -- and I can get it here http://topdownloads.ru/archives/file/nook_1_1_2_update/7152798.htm
Alternatively I could go all the way on up to 1.2.1, I see, but then my root method would be NookManager rather than TouchNooter -- so I have to install GApps myself via adb? Ah or see if I can get everything I want via the Amazon app store? Is there any advantage to the later firmware, or should I grab 1.1.2 and do it the way I'm familiar with?
Also, how do I do a firmware update on a rooted nook? Do I have to go all the way to factory reset, or can I hang onto my apps and their settings some nice way? (Sorry if there are instructions for this somewhere, I can only find "get the right firmware first" instructions).
Thanks
I can't advise you on whether a particular firmware will help your wifi issues but if you go with 1.1.2 get it straight from Barnes and Noble: http://su.barnesandnoble.com/nook/n...XTLrBeYy5CHbHS264o9Ujsh/nook_1_1_2_update.zip
I'll be posting an addon to NookManager tonight or tomorrow for installing gapps if you want to go 1.2.1. It best not to try to install gapps via adb as there are firmware and system file patches that are required to get it working that are better done with the system booted off a NookManager or other root installer microSD card.
If you are changing firmware it is best to go back to stock and reroot. But you don't need to lose everything either. Install Titanium Backup and backup all your apps first. Then go back to factory, upgrade your firmware, reroot and install gapps. Then install Titanium Backup and restore all your apps. You won't lose settings in your apps that way.
Great -- I'll have to leave it till next weekend by now anyway, so I'll give 1.2.1 a go having saved all my stuff.
I just posted my addon for NookManager to install Google Apps. The thread is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2086582 Hope you find it helpful.
