[Q] Is there a way to reset the security code? - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My friend's daughter set a 4 digit security code on their Nook Color and has no idea what the code is.
Is there a way to reset or remove the code? I know I can factory reset/wipe the whole Nook, but I was hoping not to have to do that.
(The Nook Color is rooted using manual nooter.) I can boot to recovery, but I don't have any nandroid backups.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

[Q] Factory data reset not working on rooted nook color

I have my nook color rooted onto the nook itself not the sd card. I am giving it to my nephew. I need to get my google account off of it. I go to privacy to factory reset my nook.t. The nook restarts but after the future of reading it says install failed please reset. How do I go about getting my google account off the nook? Thanks
I would restore it to stock. Instructions are here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914690&page=29

[Q] I can't open my ADW.Launcher. What now?

I rooted my nook, tried to change the screensaver and turn off images but it messed up with my ADW.Launcher settings. Unfortunately I didn't made a backup file from framework.jar.
Now I'm stuck with the B&N Home and I can't launch the ADW, nor the Button Savior nor nothing outside the stock B&N app.
I've tried to restore everything with n2T-Recovery (the both methods) but didn't work. At all!...
I'm needing some help here
I think if you used n2t you need to reroot since that triggers the 8 failed boots which causes a rewrite of the system date.
I rerooted, but that didn't seemed to help...

Did you expect triggering Factory Restore would help you fix your broken root?
Trigger Factory Reset by going to Settings -> Device Info -> Erase and Deregister
This will clear all your settings, including broken ones, then reroot your NST.

thank you very much! that solved the problem
or if you have a backup file you can format the nook and write the backup img, your nook will be new as fresh

Questions regarding restoring settings

Hello!
1) Is it necessary to ensure that the NST has setting restored (from the Nooks setting menu) before rooting?
2) Does restoring settings from NST Nook menu deregister the device with B&N? I ask because I've read it's important to register the device before rooting or else face reduced battery life - If restoring deregisters the device then I'm concerned about restoring settings before rooting.
3) Once rooted, is it still 'safe' to restore settings from the Nook menu? I only wonder as I'll be giving the device to a less tech savvy person and I'm concerned that in the future they may attempt to use this menu and encounter difficulties.
4) The 'Restore to factory settings' option in NookManager - Does this reset settings but keep root? Or does it restore the Nook to a factory clean image? If the former, I'm wondering if it might be an idea to 'Restore to factory settings' after rooting to ensure everything is in a known good state.
Thanks.

Reset Private Mode password?

Hi guys, can this be done without a factory reset? I simply forgot my password.
If it cannot be done without a reset, what is the most painless and quickest way to accomplish this? Is there any way to backup everything in one tidy package and rewrite it after a reset?
I can root if needed. 910T.
Thanks in advance.
I'm forget note edge private mood password

Can't factory reset sm-t230nu?

Hello,
I'm trying to help my mom with her Nook tablet, which is a Samsung sm-t230nu. I initially installed TWRP and a custom ROM from these forums and hoped that would be enough, but she wants me to fully factory reset it since for whatever reason, the Nook reading app refuses to reinstall on it. But when I do the factory reset (wipe data, cache, dalvik) through TWRP, it doesn't actually...wipe anything. The same programs are there, the wifi is still autoconnecting, it still has her passcode on the lock screen, etc. Am I missing something here? Do I need to do something via ADB to force-wipe it?
I appreciate any help.
