How do I know the last time I ejected the s-pen - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a log I can fetch from my phone to determine the last "time" I had ejected the s-pen to determine what class I was in when I ejected my pen and left it there.

Quick solution for S-Notes Zoom Bug

If you have been annoyed by the zoom bug caused by placing your wrist on the bottom right quadrant of your screen as you write using S-Notes here is a simple solution.
1) Pinch the screen to resize to 100%.
2) Tap the screen once with your pen.
3) Start writing - zoom issue solved.

At what point do you put your hand on the tablet on your 3 step fix? After step 2?

Wouldnt it be saved as an image file rather than a note file? That means u cant re edit it? Am i right?

If you find the tablet zooming on you when you place your wrist on it simply lift your hand, pinch the zoom back to 100%, then without placing your hand down again simply tap the screen once with the tip of the pen. This should solve the zooming issue for that session. Afterwards just write normally.

I posted something similar to this. But all I do is before I start writing place the pen close the screen then rest my palm.

The single tap thing works better in that you don't need to keep worrying about it.

SIM card too short

Hi guys,
I've just received my Nexus (under the Christmas tree). Obviously, I tried to put my handmade cut SIM Card, but it's too short. As I'm in holiday, isn't there anyway to make my Nexus recognize it ? (See Pics) I'll buy a new one later but I'd like to have a phone during these holidays,
Thanks a lot

You could try to insert it and see what happens .
I obviously tried, but the SIM Card isn't detected.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
we are on the same boat. I don't think there's any other way other than getting a replacement sim.
Check whether you are inserting SIM from right side
Sent from my A52 using xda app-developers app
Try putting a small spacer in the back of the sim. For the live of all things Android don't put something that will fall out and get lodged.
I have a Micro sim in my Galaxy Nexus without an adapter with no issues at all. I just centered it. The connectors themselves are the correct size, just centering it is the trick

Another tip for you: after inserting the sim card, reboot your device. It won't detect a new sim when it's on.
If it doesn't work, take the sim out, wiggle it a little, and put it back in, and reboot again. This is how I eventually got it to work after a lot of encouragement from a friend, and after at least ten times of trying . I'm assuming you're putting the card in in the right way, but just to confirm: the chip side of the sim should go towards the back of the phone.
So I,m indeed putting it the good way.
Then I'll try tickling it to make it work
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Edit : is the chip more toward the center of the phone or toward the outside ?

It depends on the device. The Galaxy Nexus needs to sit about 1/3 down and slightly to the left.
I'd find a picture of a normal sim and compare it to yours and find where your missing the gap

Here's a picture of a regular micro sim in my sim tray. It should help with positioning your chip. You can also put some tape (the thin stuff, like this) on the tray, then position the sim card on it at the right spot. It won't be able to move because of the tape.

I feel that every SIM card has it's own positioning of the golden plates. Mines was more towards the top left edge of the card. Not all of them are done equally.

Yeah but they should all be fairly universal. Otherwise adapters wouldn't work

Probably. When I was cutting my regular-sized SIM and compared it to another regular sized (wanted to try the cut on a extra SIM card i had laying around before I did it to my real one first) and noticed the two gold were on different parts of the card.
Worked fine for me on the cut though.
Just cut one good, the chip was bigger than mine and longer but it fits and works. Still, I have to try to put mine

Best of luck
Fixed took me a bit but I did it with tape.
When I'll come back I'll get a true micro Sim
Thanks to all

How about just using the micro Sim that comes with the phone.

Im not sure whether you got it from the store but by buying the phone from the play store doesn't include a sim card in the box.

Exactly, no Micro SIM coming with it.

Holy fail Google. So they expect all of us to cut our old Sim card to fit their device, how professional not to mention that a lot of old Sim cards are not even considered 4G. I bought mine from a retail store and I made sure the phone came with a sim

Make sure you have the setting checked. Also it wont alert you unless the screen is off.
The screen must be off and it also used the phone as a pedometer so you can test it by taking the pen out, turn the screen off and tap the phone on the floor.

I was at least 15ft & no alert for approx 2 minutes - that's enough time to leave the conf room, get on the elevator & lose that s pen forever...
I'll test again, maybe my screen wasn't off in time.

Tested mine with the tapping method. Seems to now work at 16 ft.

I just looked at this setting, and realized that I didn't turn it on.
It's not a function of distance from the phone, but more the number of 'steps' the phone counts when the screen is off.
I had the pen right next to my phone and shook it like a Polaroid picture. Eventually I got a strong buzzing notification.
Cool stuff!

Wierd S-Pen activity

There is a part of my screen that the s-pen just jumps over. I can't start writing in this section the cursor will just move to the right. It's really wierd.
I've attached a picture to try to portrait what it's doing but I can confirm that it's not just action memo it's just this certain portion of the phone which is the left side from top to bottom.
I've highlighted the area. Anyone else having problems like this?

No. Fine over here.

Mine will skip, like when an ink pen runs into a grease spot but starts again when you go back.
Lillie's SM-N900V via Tapatalk now Free
Try removing the case if you've got one with a magnet.
Have no issue with mine slowly drawing diagonal straight lines down both sides.
I have experience something similar. When I open up the S note and use the idea sketch, when I start to color inside the lines after moving the S pen around it brings up the idea sketch menus which that tends to move the picture around and it messes up my sketch that I went over. Very annoying. I have other issues besides with S pen. Dam unexpected error messages keeps popping up even after a hard reset on the phone. Going to call up Verizon tomorrow for a replacement..

Fingerprint Scanner more than 3

I'm not sure if this is a known thing or not, but its just a little exploit I found out. When registering your 3 fingerprints tou have to swipe 8 times or so. You can register every finger and have room to spare with this method I found out. When registering prints swipe one finger 2 times then move onto a new one. Repeat until all fingers are used. Now you can un lock your phone using any finger.
Ex for registering.
FINGERPRINT 1: Swipe Thumb 2 times, Swipe Index Finger 2 times, Middle Finger 2 times, Ring Finger 2 times. (Not fully sure if you need to have it swiped 2 times or if 1 will work as well, 2 has seemed to work without flaws) Now you have 1 Print registered but in reality 4 have been registered.
Another quick tip is that you can swipe your thumb sideways, or at just the right angle, on the scanner so you can now unlock your phone with one hand. This is a bit tricky since you have to swipe your thumb in just the right spot.

Nice tip, you can also register your thumb and a few fingers in all directions for awesome accuracy

I cant seem to get it to unlock one handed with my thumb kinda annoying

Try swiping your thumb twice straight down and then angled 45 degrees then horizontal, it registers one handed much better after that. If not, do variations with the other three fingerprints and try it in all directions.

S5 finger scanner
Just tried all my fingers with one scan, in one finger registration. Even scanned each finger once upside down.
Awesome tip! This helps a ton!
Sent from my SM-G900P using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
From what I understand, there are only 10 copies of the registered fingerprints.
I was hoping we could do at least 3 different fingers, each at 3 angles (-45,0,45) on each of 3 sides of the screen (left, bottom, right).
Is this not the case?
This is awesome! Would have never guessed. Works on the Note 4 too.
This work really well thank for the tip
