Hi guys,
I've just received my Nexus (under the Christmas tree). Obviously, I tried to put my handmade cut SIM Card, but it's too short. As I'm in holiday, isn't there anyway to make my Nexus recognize it ? (See Pics) I'll buy a new one later but I'd like to have a phone during these holidays,
Thanks a lot

You could try to insert it and see what happens .
I obviously tried, but the SIM Card isn't detected.

we are on the same boat. I don't think there's any other way other than getting a replacement sim.
Check whether you are inserting SIM from right side

Try putting a small spacer in the back of the sim. For the live of all things Android don't put something that will fall out and get lodged.
I have a Micro sim in my Galaxy Nexus without an adapter with no issues at all. I just centered it. The connectors themselves are the correct size, just centering it is the trick

Another tip for you: after inserting the sim card, reboot your device. It won't detect a new sim when it's on.
If it doesn't work, take the sim out, wiggle it a little, and put it back in, and reboot again. This is how I eventually got it to work after a lot of encouragement from a friend, and after at least ten times of trying . I'm assuming you're putting the card in in the right way, but just to confirm: the chip side of the sim should go towards the back of the phone.
So I,m indeed putting it the good way.
Then I'll try tickling it to make it work

Edit : is the chip more toward the center of the phone or toward the outside ?

It depends on the device. The Galaxy Nexus needs to sit about 1/3 down and slightly to the left.
I'd find a picture of a normal sim and compare it to yours and find where your missing the gap

Here's a picture of a regular micro sim in my sim tray. It should help with positioning your chip. You can also put some tape (the thin stuff, like this) on the tray, then position the sim card on it at the right spot. It won't be able to move because of the tape.

I feel that every SIM card has it's own positioning of the golden plates. Mines was more towards the top left edge of the card. Not all of them are done equally.

Yeah but they should all be fairly universal. Otherwise adapters wouldn't work

Probably. When I was cutting my regular-sized SIM and compared it to another regular sized (wanted to try the cut on a extra SIM card i had laying around before I did it to my real one first) and noticed the two gold were on different parts of the card.
Worked fine for me on the cut though.
Just cut one good, the chip was bigger than mine and longer but it fits and works. Still, I have to try to put mine

Best of luck
Fixed took me a bit but I did it with tape.
When I'll come back I'll get a true micro Sim
Thanks to all

How about just using the micro Sim that comes with the phone.

Im not sure whether you got it from the store but by buying the phone from the play store doesn't include a sim card in the box.

Exactly, no Micro SIM coming with it.

Holy fail Google. So they expect all of us to cut our old Sim card to fit their device, how professional not to mention that a lot of old Sim cards are not even considered 4G. I bought mine from a retail store and I made sure the phone came with a sim

can someone with a N4 please look at the photo of my sim and tell me if the fact the contacts are not centered is a big deal if using the noosey to trim it. it is a question of how the contacts line up in the N4's sim slot. if center-cutting the micro sized sim using the noosey is not going to work then it will be done with an x-acto knife.
i am aware of how easy it is to get att to provide a micro but every time they touch my grandfathered contract-less account they screw me up somehow so i'd first prefer to not have to deal with activating a new sim.
your help is appreciated in advance.
Cut mine down using the noosey today and working fine.. Full signal. You may need a file handy though to smooth edges and get a snug fit in the sim card tray.

It'll be fine, go for it.

You have been graciously thanked kind sir.
I ejected my SIM tray and was pulling it off, and the black plastic/rubber piece on the end of the SIM tray pulled off. Now you pretty much require a pair of tweezers to pull the SIM tray out of the phone.
Anybody experience this? Only thing I can think of is calling LG and asking them to give me a new SIM tray?
Can you glue it back on?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
could you post a pic of it ?
Super glue is your friend, OP.
I'll post a pic tomorrow. Super glue might work but I can't even get it to sit back evenly on the little metal tray.

AW: Black rubber end of my sim tray fell off!
Better call LG or the Google support before you glue the simtray inside the phone
(Happened to me once with an old Nokia)

Hahaha! That's why you let it dry overnight. That's really funny. I bet you didn't think so at the time, though!
Here's the pic. Called Google store and they said it's a cosmetic defect and they won't fix. Told me I can call LG to see if they will give me a new SIM tray. Otherwise I'm outta luck. Not impressed.

The slightest bit of crazy glue will fix that right up.

Problem is, I can't get it to sit properly on the metal tray. There are little ridges that the tray apparently inserts into, but they seem misaligned.

Im purchasing a used Note 10.1 tomorrow and was wondering if there is anything specific I should be looking for on a used unit. It is supposedly in perfect condition and just has not been used as much as the original owner thought he would.
Thanks!
There was one guy who had problem with the S pen, so see if its work 100% as it should.
Physical condition is important but i think u will see that anyway.
ps. if the guy has flashed something on the note 10.1, then do check if the tablet has still its IMEI
there was one guy who had lost his imei and tried to sell me his phone lol
Make sure camera works. Check to see if there are any dead spots with touch screen(go to app drawer & touch different icons & move them around), make sure s-pen works, check for scratches or marks on screen & body. If you can tether to your phone or in a place with wifi, make sure you can connect to wifi, see if maps can get a gps lock.
Running a benchmark or two is not a bad idea.

Hi guys !
I had to buy a new screen for my nexus 4 cause I broke it, I disasembled the whole phone, replaced the screen, re-assembled the phone, but... know I have no signal... Do you know what I could have forgotten or broken ?
I can add that when my screen was broken, i still recieved messages & calls, but it was impossible to pick up... So the problem doesn't come from the impact...
Thx a lot 4 your help !
Have you connected all connectors?

I think so, but i'm going to re-open it and check every connector, do you know wich ones are in charge of the radio part ?
Did you pick out the sim? If not try to take it out and put it back in..
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
Yes, but it doesn't seems to be the problem...
I also noticed that I recieved yesterday 10smses @ once, but didn had enough time to see any signal...
when taking apart devices you should take pictures of it so you can backtrack when re-assembling it.
http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Nexus+4+Teardown/11781
Yes, but given that i recieved messages, I assume that it's only something not enough clenched...
Do you know what is the aim of the white cable next to the battery by the way ?
Problème solved, the coaxial cable was the problem

Hey everyone i'm I just got a Nexus 4 from a friend and noticed the Sim card tray was missing. Is there a way for me to use the phone now with out the tray? I'm trying to find a local cellphone repair shop locally to see if they have any Nexus parts but i haven't been lucky so far. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Whatever you do don't insert the SIM without the tray. You will instantly regret it because:
A) mobile won't see it so you won't have network
B) it will be hard as **** to take it out again.
I did it once by stupidity and spent 20 minutes sweating and battling with 2 needles to get it out.
